DD could be a great thing for many people. No trips to stores, no worrying about stock or inflated secondhand prices, no clutter, etc.
But it also means that we're essentially paying for a service, not a product. Devs and pubs SHOULD have to adjust their retail model accordingly, but instead they just treat it as a means of sleazy income and consumer control.
I mean good god, why are we paying the same amount of money for games that have a HUGE amount of ...
Like cyguration said, you're delusional if you don't see that it's ALREADY negatively affecting the games we buy. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything we can do about it. Crap like this eventually happens to EVERY medium of entertainment out there.
Unfortunately, most of the more casual gamers and CoD-heads out there don't understand (or even want to understand) what throwing money into these microtransactions is doing to the industry.
...
It's funny how all these "girl gamer" of the month articles are actually just a bunch of models that put on some hot pants and throw a few controllers over their shoulders.
Why sugar coat it? It's just "babe of the month."
Yeah, comparing this game to another game is doing it too much justice.
It's a terrible game on it's own terms. DayZ could never have existed and WarZ would STILL be one of the worst mainstream releases of the past decade.
The fact that it's also one of the most blatant rip-offs of the last decade just adds insult to injury.
...and the lying and downright pathetic PR doesn't help either.
They...kinda need to hire a writer, it seems like.
Looks like it has some potential though.
Unfortunately we seem to be the vocal minority here. There's too many idiots out there that don't understand what buying this crap is doing to the industry.
I mean, why the hell are people even paying for these games if they can't even be bothered to actually PLAY THEM!?
They can say it won't affect the core game experience all they want.
They're crazy if they think we're going to believe that they aren't withholding content in order to monetize it for microtransactions. Plus like Sev said below me, at the very least you shouldn't have to deal with in-game advertising after you already bought the damn game.
I hate to sound like an old fart, but Jesus Christ. I remember when games had a wealth of content to...
Weed is probably the safest drug out there at the end of the day, but human beings have the unfortunate ability to become dependent on just about ANYTHING.
I would have to say that at the point when you REQUIRE weed to enjoy other things, you're past the point of using the drug for normal recreational purposes.
Personally, I've never really liked playing games stoned, especially not the ones that require a degree of focus in regards to narrative. I lo...
...no, it doesn't look anything like the Dreamcast or Gamecube games.
Here, I'll even help you out:
It's just elitism. I can fully understand PREFERRING one to the other, but out-and-out hatred is just pure elitist idiocy.
Though from a certain perspective I can understand why PC gamers would be upset that the vast majority of good games were only ported over to the PC as an afterthought this generation. I mean good god, DX11 will be the second straight generation of DirectX that has basically gone down the crapper simply because developers refused to put any extra time...
...but they're goddamn horrible at it. They seem to be under the impression that breasts bounce around even if the owner of them is stationary.
I've played through a lot of my old PSOne games on my PS3, actually. I wouldn't call it essential (even less so given the PS3 and PS4 are going to be using the same HD standard), but I've always loved going through my older games with BC.
All these companies just need to stop the BS. You can't cram DRM down our throats, incorporate seedy microtransactions into all your games, and flat-out lie to consumers about what a finished product is going to be and NOT expect there to be backlash.
I get the impression that we have more to blame on the publishers than the developers, but if developers were less inclined to so readily sellout, there wouldn't be nearly as much corporate involvement in the first place...
....you're going to have to pay for Gold to play. I can almost guarantee it. What, in the history of Microsoft, makes anyone think that's NOT the way this is going to go down? ANYTHING that is gameplay-related is going to require a Gold account.
I mean, you had to have Gold to access the online features in Dark Souls, a game that requires no direct interaction between participants.
Sexism is just one part of the broader issue of anonymous hate-mongering. EVERYONE gets hate online. I get called a "fag" online all the time because of my slight lisp. Do you think it matters that I'm not gay? No. They call me that out of idiocy and the reassuring sense of anonymity that comes with long-distance-social-interacti on.
I'm sorry you're getting it because you're a woman or you're black or etc., but the simple fact of the matter is t...
I respect that idealist mentality you've got, but the asshats of online will never go away. It's one of the unfortunate byproducts of online anonymity and "long-distance-social-int eraction," unfortunately, and it's not simply a matter of sexism. It's just hate mongering in general. Everyone gets it. It will never stop.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of us should stop "fighting the good fight" against online bullying, but I a...
To be perfectly honest, I gave them the benefit of a doubt with DNF because they had come in at the end of a notoriously crazy development cycle, but after Aliens...I don't know, man.
It makes me wonder if Borderlands is just kind of a fluke success story.
Playing the game more than once kinda dulled the scares for me, to tell the truth. It was a game that was good literally for about 8 minutes.
That's Estelle from Trails in the Sky.
Unfortunately the DLC/microtransaction trend only seems to be intensifying. So...seventy bucks plus the price of the "real ending" or that day one dlc that, take it from them, was NEVER meant to be in the original game.
