We have no idea at all when NX is coming out let alone when Nintendo has or will begin to show NX to some of the third parties.

For the record, here's Wii U's R&D development scheduled based on information taken directly from Iwata Asks interviews and comments from separate occasions made by Iwata and/or Miyamoto:

- Wii U development began early discussions in 2008
- By April 2009, Nintendo's console engineering team was busy designing ...

Well, not all good game sell well. I wish it were that easy, but it's not. A game's success or failure can largely be due to its consumer appeal and marketing and lack of exposure/hype. Sometimes even niche titles can be commercially successful such as with Monster Hunter and the Dark Souls franchises.

For example, Bayonetta 2 sold poorly worldwide despite its good marketing effort and outstanding reviews. It had a TV ad, print and internet media exposure, came bun...

Devil's Third looked pretty bad from the beginning, but at least back then it had potential to be a flawed but potentially fun game for a low budget title. Now it just looks like a seemingly lousy title with little in the way of redeeming qualities.NOA gets a lot of criticism and for the most part, they deserve it, but not this time.

There's no chance of Shigeru Miyamoto becoming Nintendo's new president. Miyamoto isn't a businessman nor does he have any desire to become one given the comments he has made in the past. His passion is in making games primarily nowadays as a producer. Besides, he's nearing retirement age.

Someone else will be replacing Iwata, but it's hard to say at this point if it will be someone from the Board of Directors. However, most of the members on it are over...

I still find it hard to believe that he's really gone. I'm going to be thinking about Mr. Iwata all day. :(

I get home from a good day at work and the first thing I read on the internet is Mr. Iwata's death. It feels so tragic and sudden I'm shocked by it all. Mr. Iwata, you've meant so much to Nintendo and your fans. You'll be missed and our hearts go out to your family and those at Nintendo.

I hope Nintendo keeps the charm of Nintendo directs alive and well despite Iwata's passing, but I don't expect Nintendo to change its values and beliefs when Iwata is...

I agree with you. A lot of people fail to pay attention to the consistency and attitude of what Nintendo's Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto have said about their thoughts on Nintendo's future and what interests them as game designers.

- Nintendo doesn't care what Sony and Microsoft do. Iwata's said this time and time again.

- Miyamoto and Iwata both are interested in continuing to pursue the creation of a different and more unique console exp...

It's utterly pointless for Nintendo to make a console directly competitive against PlayStation and Xbox. What's the point in offering a PS4 copycat machine when people already own a PS4 in the first place or a PS5 when it comes out? Why would third party sales do well on such a Nintendo machine ? Nintendo has an infamous track record with demographic and marketing issues regardless of how powerful or weak their home consoles have been. Hardware power alone is not a magical solution...

Anyone who has been paying attention to the consistency of Nintendo's Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto's comments for the past few years knows that Nintendo is not interested in being more like Sony and Microsoft despite Wii U's failure. They are not going to make a console that directly competes hardware power-wise with the likes of Xbox and PlayStation and here's the proof:

"What we are always striving to do is to find a way to take novel technology...

For the record, Nintendo didn't begin discussing Wii U's development until 2008. By 2009, the console's architecture was being designed and tested and early prototypes for the controller were beginning with experimentation with asymmetric gameplay. Around April 2011, Wii U rumors were becoming credible revealing the basic appearance of the GamePad as well as the console's code name. A few third parties were given 1st generation Wii U dev kits roughly a month or so before E3 20...

Itagaki had trouble finding another publisher to fund and market Devil's Third after his initial publishing deal with publisher THQ dissolved and he was able to secure the rights of his game. Nintendo was one of the only publishers he approached that offered to publish Devil's Third.

EAD Tokyo is working on a new project, but we obviously don't know what it is.However, Miyamoto basically said that we won't see a new Mario 3D title until the next generation.

Super Mario Maker is a pretty big deal though. It's not only a celebration of the franchise, but Nintendo fans are well known for their creativity an they can make their own Mario levels without having to do it on PC through mods. It's just a shame Nintendo didn't come up with this ...

@ABizzel1

Nintendo obviously has a lot of IP, but it isn't going to release every single one of them on either of its platforms in console generation. It's quite frankly, impossible to please fans and Reggie is right about one thing, fans are insatiable; They'll ask for this or that IP and even when the get it, they'll ask for another. It's like this on any platform, including Sony and Microsoft's. PS3 fans asked for Last Guardian, but guess what, it&...

For the record, here is Nintendo's timeline for developing Wii U:

- Wii U is conceived in 2008. Discussion on the console's direction was underway, but first Nintendo focused on talking about what issues Wii had and what advancements it wanted to do beyond motion control.

- By April 2009, Nintendo's engineering team was designing Wii U's basic structure and had settled early on in wanting to use an MCM design and have the system positioned hor...

Do people realize that of all the platform holder's Nintendo has the most 1st party games coming out in total this year and Sony has the least? Granted, that's all the major games Wii U obviously has, but my point remains. Going into E3, Wii U still had 6-7 games coming out later this year and Nintendo announced two more on top of it even though they were clearly underwhelming. In addition, Nintendo made it clear before E3 that they would only announce new games for 3DS/Wii U for rel...

It's all been a mixed bag, really. 3DS has not had a strong year of 1st party support since 2013. Wii U's best year for most 1st party software is 2015 and its least amount was 2014.

Or it could mean Nintendo cross-compatibility as a reference to the next home console and next handheld's use of integrated architecture (similar architecture but with the same operating system and use of shared assets) aka the unified architectural strategy.

While Miyamoto does appreciate HD resolution, he is fully content on holding back on hardware power. He continues to express his interest in the pursuit of changing how we play games whether it's through motion control, touch screen control and off-tv play or asymmetric gameplay tand viewing games with the 3D stereoscopic effect.

We all know Nintendo doesn't make photo-realistic games, and their cartoony games look good because of their emphasis on art direction. Ni...

With all due respect, some of you guys are living in a dream world if you expect Nintendo's next home console to be stronger than Sony and Microsoft's. Check out the collection of quotes below made by Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto since Wii U launched. Even now, after Wii U's failure to perform well, Nintendo remains consistently adamant about continuing hardware differentiation and not caring what Sony and Microsoft do.

"What the other companies are doin...

As Reggie explained, Iwata took the feedback from fans into consideration, but that's all it was. Iwata didn't mean it as an actual apology to fans because he didn't feel Nintendo owed them anything. People tend to have ridiculous expectations at E3 anyway. How many times have people asked Sony to show The Last Guardian ? A new Rare IP that isn't Kinect? An original hardcore game by Nintendo EAD ? A lot.

"Thank you for watching. We take opinions of this ...
