Yeah, back in May 2015, Itagaki said that Valhalla Games will be focused on targeting the Chinese mobile market after the developer finished Devil's Third.

Granted, Nintendo has room for improvement (clearly), but you should not overlook some of the major changes Satoru Iwata made before his death. In this generation, here's some of the things he did:

- Despite Wii U's grim fate, Nintendo has remained committed to its platform with 1st party titles and more on the way too. You know who cannot say the same thing? It starts with S and ends in Y.

- Restructured Nintendo's in-house development teams, p...

A digital exclusive release of such a niche title like Fatal Frame makes sense. Some people need to stop complaining about it. Just be thankful it was actually localized.

I think preview versions are typically older versions of the game because demos take weeks if not a month or more to make, so that takes away time from actual development of finishing a the game. Nintendo and other companies like to reuse the same old versions of the game by providing them at various industry events. Even when new levels and mechanics are featured, it's still very likely an older version of the game compared to the progress the real game in development is currently at....

Here's another comment Satoru Iwata made about next generation architecture and how Wii U's architecture is playing a role in it:

"It will become important for us to accurately take advantage of what we have done with the Wii U architecture. It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately. When this happens, home consoles and handheld ...

... NX is not a hybrid console. There is no hybrid console. Satoru Iwata told us this back in January 2013 when he described what the unified architectural strategy is for the next generation platforms.

"What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine. What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transfer...

A look at Nintendo's attitude and company philosophy from the minds of the late Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto:

"The entire development team at Nintendo will remain committed to our development policy which Mr. Iwata and we have been constructing together and to yield the development results which Mr. Iwata would appreciate." - Miyamoto, July 2015

"We like to do things that are unique and different from other companies, but we also don&#...

Quite frankly, pretty much any company would do the same thing. Why do you think Coca Cola has so many different kinds of Coca Cola flavors compared to the original ? Why do you think Microsoft has Halo Reach, Halo ODST, Wars ? Why does Activision Blizzard have Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm? Why are there so many Angry Bird titles (based on licensed IP) yet only one actual mainline sequel ? Why are there so many Assassin's Creed titles yet they're not all numbered sequels ? Their ...

If I remember correctly, XSEED said that The Last Story for Wii was its most successful published title.

The problem with this is selling the GamePad separately would only result in a niche market on Wii U. Take a look at how Wii motion plus turned out. Nintendo itself barely made any games that use it exclusively despite its benefits. Third parties also barely supported it. It's risky to make a game that is only for a significantly smaller portion of a console's userbase.

While The Wii U GamePad is innovative in some ways, the fact of the matter is Nintendo has not done enough to justify it, nor it did not catch on with consumers and inspire third parties to support it.

2016 seems too soon to release a new home console platform even with Nintendo's advantages with its new integrated architecture with transferable assets. Nintendo hasn't even given out dev kits to third parties and nothing has been leaked yet. Some of the more credible Wii U info was being leaked around May and April 2011 prior to Wii U's first unveiling in June 2011 at E3.

That's probably what Nintendo will do. After all, Nintendo is designing their next handheld and home consoles with integrated architecture that enables them to streamline development by using transferable art assets, so porting will be easier to do. However, it will also be easier to make games like Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS in the next generation when the platforms have been designed with more similar architectures running on the same operating system. Iwata talked about some interes...

Demographics and marketing issues are a major problem for Nintendo just as they were with the more powerful GameCube which was and easier to program for than PS2 was. Nintendo generally make games that are colorful, happy-go-lucky and charming and that is what they are essentially known for which in turn is what their consoles are known for as well because that's how they are marketed. Of course, it didn't help that Nintendo was selling an overpriced Wii U in 2013 for more than the ...

It's unlikely that Nintendo would increase the its development teams. Instead it is utilizing the next generational unified architectural strategy in order to streamline development between their next new handheld and home console platforms, so that they'll both have similar architecture, same operating system and transferable assets. Porting between both platforms will be made easier and require less resources too. Making the same game as two different versions (like this generatio...

This is true. A game can still have redeeming qualities regardless of its unimpressive graphics. With that said, I remain skeptical about the overall quality of Devil's Third based on what I have seen from it , so I'm keeping my expectations low.

Unfortunately, the graphics are what they are. Don't expect to see a radical improvement. This game is coming out in just a couple of months any way.

Honestly, I am a bit concerned with Miyamoto's involvement. I think Star Fox Zero may potentially suffer from some frustrating design choices regarding its use of the GamePad's asymmetric gameplay. With that siad, I'm still interested in the game because I'm a big fan of Star Fox 64.

Platinum is reportedly only working on art assets for Star Fox Zero, so it is not actually designing the gameplay which is being done by Nintendo's EAD group # 5. Nintendo revealed this to us back in an E3 interview with Kotaku.

... It's not a hybrid console. Why are people still questioning this? Iwata told us at the end of January 2013 that the next hardware platforms Nintendo makes will be a new handheld and a new home console. Here's his statement about it while describing what the unified architectural strategy is:

"Last year (in 2012) we also started a project to integrate the architecture for our future platforms. What we mean by integrating platforms is NOT integrating handheld...

I don't understand comments like this. Do people not realize the consequences of Nintendo exiting the hardware market ? More than half of Nintendo's total revenue COMES from hardware and accessory sales.
