I'd like to see that as well, but it doesn't sound likely because it would naturally take away development resources from Nintendo when it can focus on more important things like making releasing new titles while taking advantage of utilizing its next-gen streamlined development between handheld and home console. Besides, even if GC were added, we'd probably be lucky to see up to 5 games released for it in total.
Unfortunately, you'll likely be setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect Nintendo to offer a home console that has higher-specs than Xbox One or PS4. That's just not what Nintendo is focused on.
To prove this, the following are statements over the course of this generation made by Nintendo's Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto, and also Tatsumi Kimishima that reveal what Nintendo thinks and is interested in terms of hardware design:
Le...
Not really. The reason Satoru Iwata revealed the codename for its next platform last year is because he wanted to make it crystal clear to naysayers and shareholders that even though Nintendo will be starting support for mobile games and in light of Wii U's poor sales performance, it would remain committed to making dedicated hardware platforms just as it always has been. As of last year, it was obvious that Wii U's sales were not going to significantly change, but Nintendo was still ...
I suppose Nintendo just hasn't decided its worth doing yet while developer GameFreak still feels that the main Pokemon games are ideally best kept on the handheld even though it has considered the possibility of putting the games on the home console. I mean, who better to make a home console Pokemon game than the main developer of the franchise? Of course, most of GameFreak's staff seems to primarily have development experience with making software for Nintendo handhelds, so they...
In early 2014, and according to Nintendo producer, Kensuke Tanabe, Retro Studios began working on a new console project some time in 2013 (likely late in the year) before DKC: Tropical Freeze was released in February 2014. It's now been over 2 years since Tropical Freeze came out, so Retro should be ready to at least reveal its new project announcement by E3 2016, but I would imagine it should be ready for release by the end of the year , and likely to accompany Zelda Wii U's rele...
Major third parties are the backbone of the industry, so it's completely understandable why all platform holders would prioritize holding meetings and sending out devkits to them well before getting into contact and loanding devkits out to indies.
In the case of Wii U, Nintendo said it released devkits out earlier than it usually had done in the past. From what we know, developers like the company behind Darksiders 2, received a first-gen Wii U devkit 5 weeks before E3 in...
Why is it being called a remake when it's a remastered port? Big difference.
If some people think NX is going to be a more powerful console than Xbox One/PS4, then they are setting themselves up for disappointment. Nintendo's been consistently adamant about its hardware design approach to which Shigeru Miyamoto discussed last year and Tatsyu Kimishima's confirmation from earlier this year about NX being a unique platform, and very likely not just because it uses integrated architecture. Nintendo's simply not interested in making a competitively priced, ...
Twilight Princess HD - release in march
Pokken Tournament - release in march
Star Fox: Zero - release in April
Pikmin 4 - Unknown release , but obviously likely later this year given Miyamoto confirmed project development was nearly finished as of September 2015. Assumed to be a Wii U title based on Miyamoto's 2013 comments about the future of the Pikmin IP and why Pikmin 3 was not ideal for 3DS control scheme.
Fire Emblem X SMT - Assumin...
I wouldn't expect Tatsuya Kimishima's leadership of Nintendo to differ greatly from Satoru Iwata's because quite frankly, Kimishima already told us that he plans to continue using the strategy and preparations Iwata already laid out for the company to follow. With that said, Nintendo seems to be on the right track with some of the things we know about:
- recent support for mobile gaming to help bring in major revenue and expose gamers to Nintendo IP
<...
Here's the thing though, why would someone buy NX over a PS4? It's not going to be due to better hardware power. Gamers are content with owning a PS4, and by the time NX comes out, PS4 will have sold over 60 million units globally. PS4 and Xbox One are already $300 consoles, how much will NX be ? NX also won't receive all the third party games in develop for PS4 and Xbox One currently and in the future. Also, some of those initial third party titles coming to NX will naturally be ...
I don't think Nintendo will be more competitive. Satoru Iwata already called NX a brand new concept, and Tatsuya Kimishima confirmed earlier this year that NX is a unique and different kind of console despite the fact that NX will not be using the Wii brand name. Furthermore, the following is a statement Shigeru Miyamoto made in June 2015 about what kind of company Nintendo is:
"What we are always striving to do is to find a way to take novel technology that we ...
I like Tatsuya Kimishima, but let's give Satoru Iwata some credit here. I mean, Kimishima said he is just going to be following the same plans Nintendo already had that Iwata initiated under his leadership. That means everything from Amiibo, licensing Nintendo IP opportunities, supporting mobile games to preparing future consoles using integrated architecture (that won't be using the Wii brand) and other things like more garbage projects like Splatoon are in development. Of c...
Based on part of a statement Satoru Iwata made back at the end of January 2013 while describing Nintendo's next-gen unified architectural strategy, he revealed that the company recently began work on integrated architecture for next-gen platforms some time in 2012.
For the record, Satoru Iwata also revealed that the origin of Wii U's development process began in 2008 which initiated with meetings regarding the approach the company wanted to take with the console...
As I own both a PS4 and a Wii U, it's easy for me to say that Wii U has the best amount of exclusives at this point, and based on reviews, among the highest rated ones. It's a fact that Wii U has the most exclusives, but it's up to everyone's personal taste in games if they care about that kind of software to begin with. For me, Wii U has more than a handful of exclusives that justify owning the console, but I cannot say the same for my PS4 (not yet anyway).

Naturally, people love to speculate on products they have anticipation for. Realistically, I think some people need to keep their expectations in check, and perhaps they can best start by reading the various statements and comments about NX and the Nintendo's design philosophy from Nintendo's executives (just from between 2013 - 2015) in order to a better idea of what Nintendo is going to do with NX as far as things like whether it's going to be a powerful machine or something ...
Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo's president said this a few weeks ago when describing NX:
“Something unique and different.”
Last year, Satoru Iwata said the following about what NX is:
"NX is a brand new concept."
Shigeru Miyamoto on what kind of company Nintendo is back in 2015:
"What we are always striving to do is to find a way to take novel technology that we can take and offer it to people...
Kimishima was the wisest choice to have as the new president because he's been with the company for ages. He knows the business inside and out and aligns himself with many of Satoru Iwata's and Miyamoto's beliefs about what makes Nintendo, Nintendo. He was the safest, but most sensible candidate for the job.
Nintendo already said it will be sharing details on NX later this year, so just have some patience.
An anime based on Fire Emblem would make...
I hope so, but it obviously depends on what people's expectations are for it. If some people believe it's going to be more powerful than PS4 and Xbox One, then in all likelihood, they are going to be setting themselves up for disappointment. Nintendo's new president recently confirmed that NX is going to be a unique and different kind of console experience despite how it will not be part of the Wii/DS branding that Nintendo knows has lost its perceived value since non-gamers di...
With all due respect, you do kind of need a history lesson because Nintendo's design philosophy is going to be applied to NX in similar ways that it used with Wii and Wii U despite the fact that Nintendo won't be using the Wii brand name anymore.
All those statements I posted speak to the likelihood of NX being a unique console that is not going to be more powerful than Xbox One and PS4 because Nintendo doesn't care about what Sony and Microsoft do because it i...
