We got a brief glimpse of part of the Zelda game's map displayed on the GamePad touchscreen last year. Also, according to Miyamoto, one particular area of Zelda's Wii U map size will be bigger than the entire map size of Twilight Princess, so it sounds pretty big!
Here's the link.

In terms of software sales, Nintendo's most definetly not fine without Zelda. It has no flagship IPs to rely on this year, so chances are most of these games will not lead to triple digit hardware sales, something Wii U has rarely had outside of Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros during their respective months of release.
As for E3, I don't think we'll get any new big game releases for Wii U this year. Nintendo still has to release Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wool...
Intelligent Systems just released Codename Steam earlier this year and are finishing development on a 2nd 3DS Fire Emblem title coming out in Japan this summer and next year overseas. Aslo, one of the producers is is at least supervising development on Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, if not having some of the IS dev team partially co-developing the game too. I doubt they will have anything new to announce at E3.
It may be too early to hear about Retro's next game sinc...
Yes, amiibo is basically DLC. However, what amiibo does is it unlocks non-essential content across multiple games. If you don't want to buy an amiibo, then you won't really miss out on anything important that only comes included with the core package of a game you buy that provides amiibo support. The value of an amiibo figurine increases as you use it to unlock different non-essential content from different games on top of it being a cool, little collectible figurine.
I hope so too, but I don't think it will be. Most of its sales will likely be from North America. Japan is hard to say due to its low install base, home console market condition and it didn't exactly show a lot of love toward Xenoblade 1 on Wii which only sold 161k copies 6 months after its release. Xenoblade 3D has currently sold 71k copies, 56k copies consist of its debut sales. Of course, Xenoblade 3D is only available as an exclusive port on the new 3DS models.

I think Xenoblade X won't be out until fall (my guess is for October). The game's still being localized, so a June/July release may not be enough time. Also, we don't know what other games may come out in the summer. While Nintendo rarely seems to release new games in July, for all we know, Devil's Third may be out as early as August.
Retro just released DKC: Tropical Freeze back in February 2014. It seems way too early for them to show off a new game. People thought they would announce their first Wii U title at E3 2011, but it took 2 years later for it to happen. We do know Retro started development on its new project some time in late 2014 according to Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe. Hopefully, we'll see it at E3 2016 though.
Maybe Next Level Games will have an new title to show since the last ...

Sadly, I don't expect Xenoblade X sales to perform well in Japan. Xenoblade 1 only sold around 80k copies in its first week, then it took 6 months later for its sales to be a 161k copies by the end of 2010. Currently, Wii U's install base in Japan is still below 2.3 million, so this game really needs to help drive hardware sales. However, Nintendo's biggest flagship IPs on the home console - Mario Kart and Smash Bros - failed to do that on Wii U. Most people that bought those g...
They still do have news to announce at E3, but I imagine most of the announcements and trailers will be focused on previously revealed games. I don't think Wii U will get any new megaton 1st party announcements in particular.
It's anyone's guess if we'll see new megaton games by other developers besides the possibility of Retro Studios and/or Next Level Games. Retro's next project may be too early to reveal until next year, but you never know.
It simply depends on the game. Some times Famitus gives fair scores just like any other reviewer out there, but other times they give higher scores to games that don't seem to deserve it. Of course, western reviewers are just as guilty of this. Quite frankly, there isn't a sole reviewer everyone is always going to agree with on any game anyway. Personally, I've never been one to rely on Famitsu's scores.

I hate to break it you yeah, but even back in 2010, Nintendo's E3 was very much centered around its dedicated fanbase. Nintendo spent some brief time covering third party games, but none of em were of particular interest to most non-Nintendo gamers which were going to look and sell way better on Sony and Microsoft's platforms anyway. GoldenEye 007 and Epic Mickey were the only ones that stood out. What games were Skyward Sword, GoldenEye 007, Metroid: Other M, Mario Sports Mix, D...
Satoru Iwata already confirmed three things:
A new dedicated handheld and a new dedicated home console will be available in the next generation. There will not be a hybrid console.
Secondly. what Iwata revealed about the NX is that it is a dedicated hardware platform. We just don't know yet if he is refering to the next handheld or the next home console. What is interesting and may be a possible sign, is that the NX codename could stand for something like Ninten...
I think the new 3DS model meant to last up to 2 years. Nintendo will use it buy time for its preparation of next-gen consoles. In the meantime, the new 3DS is being used to help revitalize 3DS hardware sales with some exclusives (likely including more ports) and regular 3DS titles.
Back in August 2014, EAD Tokyo confirmed it is working on a new Super Mario game, but it didn't confirm what console it is for. I suspect that this title is meant for the 3DS, or possibly ev...
Except Bayonetta is not a mainstream IP. It's a niche one. Of course, just because a game is niche doesn't mean it can't be a successful niche. Demon's Souls was niche and a new IP at the time, but it was commercially successful. Same with No More Heroes 1. Sadly, this is not the case with the Bayonetta IP.
The target demographic for Bayonetta 2 is fairly large in the U.S. (based purely on Nintendo of America registered eShop user demographics that I posted ...
What's interesting is the revealed Wii U eShop demographics data from Nintendo of America as of August 2014.
Note: The following data only counts for US Wii U eShop:
-90% of Wii U owners connected online
- 70+% of connected users (i.e. 63% overall) visit eShop regularly
- 93% of Wii U eShop users are male
- 7% of Wii U eshop users are female
Gamers ages 0-12 make up 1% of Wii U eShop users
Gamers ages 13-1...
How would Bayonetta 2 make sense to be a timed-exclusive if Nintendo owns exclusive publishing rights over it? Nintendo funded the game, so why would it want to allow the game to be ported to Sony and Microsoft consoles ? Nintendo, like most publishers, would prefer to maintain exclusivity over whatever IP is funds (or partially funds as in the rare case of Bayonetta 2). I don't think even Sega would have any legal maneuverability here because while it owns the Bayonetta IP, it releas...
The thing is, Platinum Games and Sega tried to find a publisher for Bayonetta 2 before they asked Nintendo. Here's what Platinum Games said about that:
“I think I have discussed this many times before but here goes… First of all, we [Platinum Games] are developers and receive support from publishers by making games that they request or suggest. As for Bayonetta, we developed the game after signing a deal with Sega. Later it was decided to also develop the sequel, so we st...
As far as we know, none of them have. The only game to sell a million units last year worldwide besides Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8 was Hyrule Warriors.
So much for Bayonetta 2's sales. People need to stop thinking VGChartz is a reliable source. If Bayonetta 2 really had sold that well, then Nintendo would have likely revealed its sales data in a previous financial briefing. Bayonetta 2 is just a good example of a game that did not have a big target audience on Wii U to ...
Yes, they will reduce loading times because the data will be read from your external hard drive attached to the Wii U console.

According to the game's director:
Basic Data Pack (2 GB) – Effect: Large
A data pack containing terrain data that will allow faster loading while in the city and the game’s various fields. The Basic Data Pack is required for other Data Packs to work.
Enemy Data Pack (2.7 GB) – Effect: Medium
