I think they want to primarily win consumer perception of Xbox brand being more valuable than the PlayStation brand amongst the hardcore gamer audience.

I agree that Microsoft is not likely going to win, but Phil's just expressing what he would like to accomplish even though it does not seem feasible.

Satoru Iwata simply announced Fire Emblem X SMT too early and had nothing to show about it. The good news is Nintendo producer, Fire Emblem series producer Hitoshi Yamagami said the game's development was still on track as of June 2014 @ E3. Here's his comment about it: "We're right on schedule, but if I answer in any more details I will lose my job, so please have mercy on me."

Nintendo designed Wii the way it was because they no longer wanted to be a direct competitor against Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo acknowledged that it is not good at competition and that shows in its track record in the home console market from previous generations. Wii stood out because of its accessible way to play games and had a mass market price point that appealed to non-gamers.

What Nintendo wanted out of the industry is not what the industry wanted, so Nintendo was a...

I'm not quite sure I understand what yo mean by developers chasing after the formula of Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Most major developers are not making the kind of games Nintendo makes. They are making stuff like cover-based shooters, linear uncharted-like adventure games, ultraviolet action titles and open world games with unpolished mechanics and photo-realistic graphics. Many of these games also focus on cinematic storytelling too. Those don't sound like the kind of things inspired...

Sounds like bullshit release date. Anyway, Eiji Aonuma confirmed last year that Zelda will be in playable form at E3 2014 in June.

The first half of 2015 already has Kirby, Mario Party 10, Mario vs. DK and Splatoon confirmed so far. Meanwhile, Japan also gets Xenoblade X (and overseas reelase was for a generalized 2015 release according to Iwata). Mario Maker,Star Fox, Yoshi's Wooly World, Devil's Third and Zelda are awaiting updates on their release schedule.

Sounds too good to be true. According to the game's director, Xenoblade X will be an even bigger localization effort than the original Xenoblade was. I think we'll see X come out overseas as early as August since Nintendo has rarely chosen to release games in July.

As for Star Fox, Miyamoto said the game went into full development some time before E3 2014 in June, so I'd imagine its development schedule is around a year and a half, possibly as long as 2 years i...

The game looks awesome, but the TV ad sure didn't make it seem that way.

That's a baffling list to me. Wii U's pretty much the only one that doesn't make me scratch my head except its #4 and #5 should switch places.

Nintendo made a wise choice in acquiring a talented studio like Monolith Soft. While its games have not sold very well, they sure have provided some of us with memorable, fun gameplay experiences, and Xenoblade X looks like it may manage to top even Xenoblade 1.

As beautiful as Smash Bros 4 looks on Wii U, it can do 1080p @ 60 fps because the game does not have high polygon character models and high-res textures nor does it support anti-aliasing or strong lighting effects for that matter. The game relies more on its art style to make it more attractive and it also prioritizes a high, stable framerate because of the importance of gameplay fluidity and controller input. Smash Bros has never been about graphical fidelity anyway, so pulling off 1080p isn&...

I would fully expect it to be 720p @ 30 fps with some occasional slowdown during combat. Most open nworld game is not going to prioritize 60 fps anyway.

For what it's worth, the developer said Xenoblade X will load seamlessly in its environments except for scripted events.

For what it is worth, Monolith Soft said its next video presentation for Xenoblade X will be focusing on the battle system.

It was fake. Nintendo's not going to redesign the console because it would be an expensive proposition and eat away at their profit margins when it's currently operating in the black. Quite frankly, it's a lost cause to try to make Wii U's hardware more attractive when in it and still have no third party support behind it. Nintendo won't likely just include a Wii U Pro to replace the GamePad because they still believe in the value of the GamePad even though most consumers ...

As a PS4 and Wii U owner, the latter has been the only worthwhile console experience for me so far. None of PS4's exclusives have appealed to me yet, but that will hopefully change with the upcoming release of Bloodborne. Multiplatform games have been pretty dull in general, but I was pleasantly surprised by how fun Wolfenstein was, so I don't regret buying it at all.

I did borrow the Order from my cousin which was a disappointing, albeit gorgeous looking title. I...

Yeah, it is unfortunate that Xenoblade X will very likely not sell that well, especially in Japan and UK.

For the record, Xenoblade 1 only sold 161k copies in the six months of its release in 2010 in Japan, and half of those sales came from its launch week. The game sold well enough in Europe and NA according to Reggie, but the fact that Nintendo has never released its lifetime sales means it likely sold below a million units worldwide. Anyway, we're thankful we have a sp...

There's room for games like The Order to exist if there's a consumer base for it , but if you don't like those kind of games, then simply don't buy them. As for The Order itself, I felt it was pretty mediocre. Just because a game tries to do something different does not mean it necessarily did it well, and that's The Order's problem. Quite frankly ,the only thing I'll likely remember about it months from now is how damn good it looks.

While Metacritic's review system is clearly flawed, I don't think it's much of an issue here when Nintendo has proven itself to be one of the most consistently reliable developer's in the industry by critics and consumers with or without basing them on a numerical review scoring system.

This isn't to say that Nintendo doesn't make some bad game design choices in its developed titles. For example, as polished and as fun as Mario Kart 8 is, the battle ...

Splatoon's online mode is an unconventional competitive shooter because it is a turf war scenario: the winning team has the most painted area of the level. Defeating opposing team players is not the main objective. The game is innovative in terms of its clever squid mode which makes playing the game unique compared to other competitive. shooters. This game does not appear to be based on class types or a cover-system.

While it will indeed be a great loss once Iwata and Mi...

Well, we've been hearing that since like 2010. The last generation has been an utter embarrassment for Team Ico. They apparently began development on The Last Guardian some time between 2006 -2007, so it's been nearly 8 years across two PlayStation home consoles and still no new game releases from it since October 2005.

If the project is still in development, then perhaps it has changed direction and/or been re-developed for PS4 under a new name, but if we don't...

The main protagonist - the one you customize - doesn't seem to be an issue for obvious reasons. From what I have seen, the only ugly face is really the girl in your party with the short black hair and creepy large anime eyes. Everyone else seems fine to me.
