Can you tell me the release dates on those? Not even half will make it out this year in Japan even.

Yup. Shame the fans and consumers don't share the same - forced - enthusiasm.

40% in Japan, which is the 3DS's largest market, because of currency exchanges and whatnot, it was closer to 30% in the US. So your information is incorrect. A Google search would have told you that.

Can you provide data to show that the 3DS XL is selling at a higher ratio than the st...

@Thy, most Eastern games are actually made in China/ Korea. Sorry, but your information is incorrect. Japan makes a lot of content, but China/ Korea simply make more. Mobile is a huge thing over there, and I swear one hundred new KRPGs pop up on Android each day. You're talking from a console only perspective, which is where I think that the confusion set in.

AdvanceWarsSgt, the 3DS had its price almost halved in the first six months of its shelf life, followed by a public apology to early adopters. The DS was never the subject of such aggressive repricing so early or apologetically in its cycle. And Nintendo keep missing their targets for the 3DS or adjusting them down. That did not happen with the DS, they kept going over their quarterly targets. That means that they are overestimating demand for the 3DS - even after a massive product restructur...

Actually China and Korea (South, obviously) are miles ahead of the West in terms of both tech and design. I'm Canadian btw, so I'm not speaking with vested interests. But if you follow the trends, or watch markets and business, its clear where the profit and growth is happening and its not on this side of the Atlantic. And yes, the East (China, mostly) also are the largest polluters, so its not all rosy over there. (Even though Canadians, per capita, produce the largest volume of wast...

Nintendo only "bounced back" after a 40% price cut and some crazy exclusive (for now) software like MH. Why do people always gloss over that fact? And now they're missing their 3DS targets because outside of Japan, interest just isn't that strong. The Wii U will never be another runaway hit like the Wii, and its safe to say the same about the 3DS next to the DS.

Next quarters numbers will be low, the quarter after Xmas for every manufacturer always is, so I ...

They can't afford to be in 3rd place for 6 years again. They're not coming off the blistering success of PS2 domination. I prefer Sony for consoles, but really, some common sense please.

Exactly. They went on record for saying that allowing the 360 to gain traction was a mistake.

MattS,

Let me begin with a disclaimer that I am not a mobile fanboy. I am a technology enthusiast and gamer. I follow the software (games, in this case), I do not believe in brand loyalty. While I have many fond memories of Nintendo and Sony (a few of MS too - Lost Odyssey was brilliant), I never forget that these are businesses providing a product, and we are consumers, with an expectation to be serviced.

So, to the issue at hand. Here we have a catch 22. If...

Him and that 87 y/o gaming granny should hook up for some "Marigold Hotel" style loving!

On a more serious note, research has shown an increase in synaptic aptitude and other cognitive skills from gaming. It keeps the mind sharp! He also looks like he's keeping trim and eating well. Let's not forget our bodies need care too.

4776d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

I disagree, MattS. The technology, middleware and where most of the development is going on (China/ Korea - the West is no longer the centre of the gaming world) have all shifted. We are now seeing projects catered toward mid range rigs and run quite well on low end systems.
The middleware and engines determine the box needed run them. Software dictates hardware. You can't use last gen as a comparative, because it was such a leap from SD to HD that the costs were astronomical. Als...

Wish you the best. Lost my mom to lymphoma almost a year ago to the date (29th). Funnily enough, I was spending so much time at the hospital (she was having 'induction' therapy, so was there all the time) that I had preordered a Vita to keep me company while she was sleeping or getting tests. Unfortunately things didn't work out as planned.

So a strange, bitter-sweet fondness for the hardware exists with me too. Anyway, all the best.

Vita stumbled from the get-go with botched backwards compatibility and a near totally redacted remote-play option. Not to mention the two Tales games and numerous JRPGs just sitting in the East with no foreseeable Western release.

Sony needs to get serious with remote play and with localizing those games over here asap. Its not as if Western developers are cranking out the AAA hits, so that's the software pool to choose from. I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with my Vit...

Moving on, its evident that you don't have anything of substance to counter with if all you have are half-baked, stumbling attempts at wit. Stick to the topic at hand or ...

Did KZ and LBP sequels sell less than half their predecessors? Were they on three platforms or one? That's three times the marketing, distribution and development budgets. If you knew anything about business it would be safe to assume that Capcom expected the same or a greater return on investment with this reboot. I never said that we would never get another DMC again. I said that they had harmed/ killed the brand and the sales will prove that. You can expect that the next DMC will be a ...

If its DDR3, it will be as starved as the Wii U is for bandwidth. That's a fact. 360's saving grace was its EDRAM buffer.

"On this platform I’d be concerned with memory bandwidth. Only DDR3 for system/GPU memory pared with 32MB of “ESRAM” sounds troubling. 32MB of ESRAM is only really enough to do forward shading with MSAA using only 32-bits/pixel color with 2xMSAA at 1080p or 4xMSAA at 720p. Anything else to ESRAM would require tiling and resolves like on the Xb...

Food for thought, that's 250K for DMC4 BACK when the PS360 install bases were significantly smaller. If the US numbers follow the same trend, and it seems like they are, what we have here is a lesson in how to kill a brand.
