Eew. I know you squeeze more out of closed-system architecture, but both those GPUs are crap by any modern standards. I don't understand the point of next-gen consoles if they'll be offering low-mid range PC graphics. That's what the current ones do now.

To be fair Buff1044, iOS devices are losing marketshare. The Galaxy S III went over 100 million units in like what? Six months? (Pulling that number out of the ether, but it was something like that.) The people who are going to buy a PS4 (early adopters/ enthusiasts) are NOT the same crowd that are currently, or will in the future, buy PS3s. The markets are pretty much mutually exclusive at this point. They won't be cannibalizing any of their own sales as those enthusiasts will buy TLOU and TLG and all the rest of those games anyhow, and people looking for a $200 and under system (a price drop IS comming, for sure) with a massive library, will have just that. Those that want new stuff...
If they miss Xmas with the Nexbox and Wii U out, they are irreparably stupid and I won't be buying one until I see how it all pans out (not well, I imagine). This, coming from someone who traditionally buys Sony hardware (not a fanboy, but I definitely favour their games and services). We've already seen what a headstart cost them last gen.
If they are missing 2013 and launching in 2014 (huge mistake, if it happens), then YES, they do need the strongest console. If they launch day and date with the Nextbox, then they can probably get by with slightly less power than their direct (MS) competitor. Launching later and offering less power, plus more shoddy "works better on Nextbox" ports would be a mess.
People making comparisons to the PS2 seem to forget that Sony was the market leader in those days. Now ...

Are you kidding rain? Where' do you think the PS3 would have been if it launched day and date with the 360? Certainly not last this gen, and everyone knows or can reasonably speculate to that end. They went from 120 million (or thereabouts - comparing 6-7 years, not where the PS2 stands currently) to 70 million. Sony doesn't have anywhere near the support that they did going into last generation. I'm not going to repeat myself, but leaving MS and Nintendo alone for 1 and 2 years, ...

Anyone who thinks that MS WON'T have a new Xbox out by next November, in time for ANOTHER CoD upscaled on the Nextbox is deluding themselves. Sony need to match that or they're in trouble. They can't do the same thing that they did with the Vita by giving their competitor a whole year's headst...

Haven't checked the list, but I'm really hoping that the Amalur IP gets picked up by someone major and worked with. I finally got around to playing the game and its pretty awesome. Like a cross between Skyrim and Dragon Age, without the irritations of either series. And the fantasy take is a bit different than most of your traditional orcs/ elves bit (its all about "fae").

You're right. Sony's implementation of the feature and subsequent back-peddling since showing it off at E3 is ridiculous. There's no reason why it shouldn't be enabled for every game when PSP hackers have it running on the friggn' PSP - FOR EVERY GAME.
Love my Vita, but this is one of the device's currently unfulfilled promises that sticks with me. And yeah, the concept of playing ACTUAL PS3 games on the go is certainly a promising one. Maybe they'...
The games are not 1080p. I think Rayman might be the only one, and its 2D, the rest are 720p. Read a DF analysis or some threads on Beyond 3D, before you even approach the subject of tech specs.
Most PS360 gamers - and media - are annoyed because its not even 1/2 a step up from current consoles. Its another Wii (in terms of power) for the upcoming generation.
