PS3 had XDR RAM, the pool was just split. So I'm not sure what your point is. This - purportedly - has unified DDR5 architecture and no OS overhead to code through. You're basically sending instructions right to the components, CPU, GPU, on a base level. You can't even do that on PC, which is why this could be so awesome. MS - if we're following the same information - is going with a rather elaborate OS and doesn't care too much about performance as much as features: Kinec...
There isn't a release date announced other than Monster Hunter. And assuming that the other two will make it out in North America of all places, before 2014, is a fantastic leap of faith. Not a single piece of footage existed from the Atlus crossover, and the Xenowhatever one was cobbled together from Alpha footage and not even a real trailer.
I really wish people would just calm themselves a bit. Wait and see is a good attitude to have with many things in life.
That picture is the same mockup that we keep seeing floating around the web.
@ Series, your inability to contribute anything to the conversation is admirable. A real talent. How about you explain what you disagree with, instead of trying to construct a one liner that isn't as witty as you think.
He mentioned cultural differences between West and East, then went on to discuss how "level grinding was a chore". I merely pointed out that there are millions of Westerners who play a very popular franchise who enjoy that exact activity. That is...
There are levels in CoD (Ranks, Prestiges, whatever - haven't played one ever, but I'm informed), and people play that year upon year with no end in sight. The single player campaign is over in 6 hours, and that's not why they're buying the game.
Dragon's Dogma was my kind of Elder Scrolls. I always liked the aforementioned series (ES), but the art direction (bleh) and meandering nature of the game never won me over. I've played every ES game, but never finished any of them, strange as that might sound. In comparison I adored how DD looked, sounded and played (a bit more guided, very slick combat for an open-world RPG). Can't wait for a sequel. I also completed it, twice.
I do sort of agree that MMORPGs, e...
I disagree, Megaton. The decline occurred because Western outlets were bemoaning the lack of innovation and trite nature of JPRGs while simultaneously, paradoxically, embracing the FPS only because it was new on their platform - console (yet stale to anyone who had owned a PC in the last decade and a half).
The escalating cost of jumping into HD certainly didn't help either. It made JRPG makers less risk averse. So they couldn't just make games anymore, they had to ma...
Western media slammed them for the duration of this generation until they realized what their vitriol had done. Now we see a lot of wistful stories, not unlike this one, wondering whatever happened to JRPGs while journalists completely abdicate themselves of their own responsibility in the smear campaign to eliminate the genre. While this was going on, Japanese developers scrambled in an attempt to fix what WASN'T broken and tried to cater their games to the West, instead of just refining...
Where's the third party support? Platinum Games and Atlus aside? Takes more than two to make a diverse portfolio.
A bunch of Mario and Zelda games, one of which is a remake. The only surprise was that second Platinum Games title and what looks to be a spiritual successor to Xenobalde/ Saga. But we kind of expected that from Monolithsoft.
Still, the level of drama in this article seems unnecessary given what was actually shown.
What you've pointed out are all the JRPGs that retain their eccentricities and "JRPGness". Not the ones that overly Westernize themselves.
You forgot Nier on that list too. Brilliant, brilliant game. Dragon's Dogma was pretty awesome too. I've enjoyed that more than any ES game so far.
Godfree is probably one of those spaz impulsers that buys>sells>buys a gaming machine like three or more times each gen. Just sit on it and see what develops, or you'll regret getting rid of it. Especially with stuff like Soul Sacrifice on the horizon. Sony haven't announced much for the Vita in 2013 and this is the year that they have to make it shine. Only a fool would think that the calendar year will be bare.
If by this time next year, there still isn't ...
When do these go out? And has anyone gotten theirs yet? Because I haven't received anything.
What is irritating about this, is that anyone who is a JRPG or Japanophile to any extent, becried that the Westernization of Japanese games would only harm these products. Lo and behold after an entire generation and billions of wasted development dollars and monstrosities like RE: 6, everyone is going 'back to their roots.'
Good. Its like ordering sushi and being given a hamburger instead. Both decent meals, but one isn't what I asked for.
@ the flagged comment below.
Wow, Moncole. You realize that this is a video game site for video game enthusiasts, right? What sort of sentiments did you expect to hear? Where is all your anger coming from? Also in the absence of any supporting documents or reports that she IS a homophobic nazi, I'm not sure where you're getting your wild, insane conjecture from.
Yes, it is awesome that an almost 90 year old WOMAN is contemporary and savvy enough to be...
WoW a grandmother that surely KNOWS how to give gifts to her grankids!
She is all kinds of awesome.
Did you read the article? Obviously not. This is a sound business move and actually caused their shares to RISE. They need to shrink the company, as its currently bloated beyond the ability to manage and inhibiting productivity and creativity. This is all part of their restructuring plan and they are expected to post a gain, not another loss come next quarter's results.
Logic does usually win, but 'reading' helps.
Performance wise it is. It has less than 25% of the stream processors of a 7990 (2048). I'm not sure by what standards you think that isn't mid>low, but it is. Unless you know nothing about PCs. Plus the RAM clocks are miserably low. And by winter 2013, a 7670 will will certainly be outdated.
That is a great card, even today, and yes, it is better than either of these, certain DX11 features aside.
Exactly. I don't need biometric gimmicks. Just something with buttons and analogue sticks on it.
