PS4 supposedly has a faster GPU and RAM. All the speculation on Neogaf so far (which has been startlingly correct) has the PS4 pegged as noticeably better, performance wise, than the Durango. MS is going for a large OS with multiple social features and Kinect support. That is their focus.
With a tripple core, juiced up Gamecube CPU and a 4650 HD GPU? Honestly, it has been confirmed that the system is on par or less capable than last gen-machines, so please stop this nonsense. The Wii U will be what the Wii was to the PS360, only without the benefit of the casual flock, who have apparently moved onto tablets or Facebook or whatever doesn't concern the vast majority of posters here.
Admittance is the first step to recovery.
Technically PC games are one shot per use, and its been that way for years (serial code), so this isn't too big of a shock to multi-platform gamers (console+PC). IF they decide to go that way with next-gen consoles.
More due to online shopping than anything else. Its so convenient and you can usually get better deals than you would find in a store. Only the big chains - Walmart, Costco - will really survive the shift in purchasing habits.
Clueless article is clueless.
l don't know that we'll see much else than a Ps4. Some Gaikai stuff maybe.
@ UnholyLight. Its called a knee-jerk response. MS have to say something, they're totally unprepared (pants down). What better way to obfuscate than to say a bunch of obscure statements (none of which is even sourced). No one has any idea how powerful the PS4 is, but its supposed to be stronger. And its likely to launch first. Hence why this is "sour grapes".
And that they got caught with their pants down. MS' response is just sour grapes.
The irony in MS accusing anyone of "flash" over substance. From the folks that brought us a Cirque Du Soleil performance with a completely fake Star Wars demo playing on screen, while a bewildered audience in raincoats (did we forgot that? raincoats wtf) watched on. Oh and should we talk about the pink elephant in the room? Milo anyone? MS are the masters of illusion and marketing. They need to show some class and close their mouths.
It has to be a new console announcement. I didn't think that they would be bold enough to jump MS. I mean, interviews implied that they would, but to do it so soon before E3 is quite the coup. Pretty impressive. Perhaps this will be a more exciting generation than I'd anticipated.
Didn't they announce the Vita at an investor's meeting in Jan/ Feb 2011? I could have sworn that they did but can't seem to Google a link.
It has to be.
I thought that there was some Japanese negative association or superstition related to "4"; hence why SCEJ wouldn't go with '4'. But I could be completely wrong on that. The internet is not always a reliable source for information.
It just looks so ugly (Project Shield). I wouldn't be seen carrying it around.
Exactly. The Wii's main audience (not Nintendo fans, but social gamers) moved onto iPads/ Samsung phones/ etc. That's the real issue.
They flat out said that they don't in the investor call. There are like a million articles on that one topic. So "no", they don't consider it 'Gen 4' (next-gen).
Yes, but he never said that he would step down if that target was not met. Those words, or sentiments like them were never uttered. That is an assumption (granted, one based on common practice in Japanese business) put forth by whoever made this piece.
Just to play Devil's advocate, he didn't actually imply that.
This is the quote used in the article:
"We feel greatly accountable for this severe outlook. We plan to actively release our key titles for Nintendo 3DS which could potentially lead the markets this year."
And that "achieving it was his commitment."
Okay. No where, in those statements does Iwata infer or imply that he will resign if next...
@MC. If I may.
"I see what you are saying but what is to say MS and Sony do have a table built into there next controller?"
I guarantee you that they won't MC, as MS and Sony have already hedged their bets. MS has Smartglass and Sony has the Vita for second-screen interoperability. Neither one will take the risk of going "all in" with second screens, after watching the incurred costs and lackluster reaction to the Wii U. They'll ju...
Getting almost every one of those. God bless XSEED.
Or consumers just don't want the product. The simplest excuse is usually the correct one. The tablet was a huge mistake. I'd rather they just stuffed a $350 box with off the shelf mid-range PC components, kept the Wii Motes and added a controller. At least that way, it would be more competitive with PS/ Xbox Next software. If you all missed the EA conference call or headlines, EA isn't referring to the Wii U as next gen and shan't be offering it much support moving forward. <...
Time will solve the issue of gimped hardware in an increasingly competitive marketplace where the average cellphone runs technological circles around the Wii U?
Okay.
Time to come with the nice men in the white coats Iwata. They have Koolaid, and checkers at noon.
