I like the series, and I'll definitely buy this, but what personally sticks in my gullet are retellings of the past. I like to see my narratives moving forward and every PSP title as well as this new iteration have all been "before Kratos was Kratos" sorta things.

I would have been more interested to see a story about his briefly mentioned brother, but maybe they're saving that for the PS4 launch.

There are a number of reasons why this article is erroneous in its assumptions. I also find it amusing that the writer himself feels the need to come to N4G and substantiate his own opinions with what he sees as factual information. If an article or argument is strong, it speaks for itself.

First and foremost, you're comparing a game that was already exposed to the MMO market, including all said consumers that you're ranting about and FAILED. Going F2P won't gi...

Everyone considers subscriptions. If you think casuals don't weight $15/ month you're wrong. In most cases they feel cheated when they realize "what do you mean I have to pay to keep playing?".

4937d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

Who is even asking this question? The only topic of this sort (value) being circulated in the MMO community is on whether or not subscriptions have relevance in today's market.

Boxed games still sell, and that won't change any time soon. If anything GW 2 will pioneer a new age of AAA boxed + microtransaction.

Any comparatives to SWTOR are questionable too, lest we forget that it WAS a Box + Sub MMO that is going the F2P route on account of its failu...

It needs a more aggressive featureset and software - apps, reader, document editor, streaming software, proper remote-play - in addition to stellar software as it is clearly competing with tablets and smartdevices. I have a tablet, a smartphone and a Vita, and sadly I only ever squeeze two of those in my bag when I'm headed out the door. Most of my Vita playing happens at home, but I would travel with it more if it had productivity software.

I'm also really hoping f...

How's the DS selling these days? Might want to check that out. Hint: NOT WELL.

Its a bit of an accomplishment that the PSP is still selling as well as it is. Nintendo already dropped the price as much as they could (40%) and have no wiggle room for pricing for about the next 2 years. Plus, they tapped into the $150 market already, so that card has been played if sales start to slump. A card that is traditionally played much far, far later than 6 months into the con...

I've had two Sagers (Clevos) and I don't see myself switching any time soon. Build quality, price and customer service are exceptional. I even shipped the newest one back and had them pop out a 7970m (TERRIBLE drivers and Enduro issues at the moment) and only paid the cost of an upgrade to a 680m, no thermal paste or shipping costs; the latter was covered under warranty anyhow.

Took exactly one week. And I don't live in the US, which makes the turn around and s...

Some interesting info in there regarding Onlive's patents. A.) They revolve around a set top box and server side integration, whereas Gaikai's do not. B.) You can't successfully patent something as wide in scope as remote-gaming. You can only patent isolated specific uses and configurations of tech....

There wouldn't be, or it could be argued. Plus, dozens companies already have their own cloud services and patents in play.

4939d ago 10 agree1 disagreeView comment

From what I remember, most of Onlive's patents cover the transfer of data over broadband, which everyone knows will be useless with regard to any sort of real, cloud based future. Fiberoptics are the only way. Many sorts of P2P data transfers are protected from patenting as well, as the environment is too broad in scope to be locked down with patents. They'd probably have to sue based on infringement too, so Sony has the option of working around any existing patents with whatever t...

Lobbied multiplayer, online. Sort of of like the Geos and grouping system in WKC. 4 player party cap, I think.

@ vish

What are you talking about? Vita uses off the shelf mobile components and a CPU/ GPU combo that aren't difficult to program for at all. They just need a proper media streamer/ remote-play, some version of office (Docs2Go or Polaris) and possibly Barnes and Noble for books and such. We're not talking about a huge financial undertaking here, just app-enabled services.

Couple that with a larger, nicer screen, 16 GB internal storage, PS Mobile, ...

The Vita has the advantage of being marketed as a tablet alternative, something which the DS can never be. The Vita is even made of stock mobile parts. However its lacking in application software and still pushed as a high end portable gaming device - it can be BOTH. It should be to survive. But yes, Sony are shooting themselves in the foot with their lack of clear branding or focus.

They wouldn't shrink the screen. If anything, they'd go luxury with Gorrilla glass and another inch or two to compete with tablets, which is what they should have done in the first place. High spec, OLED PS branded tablet with controls and an awesome library? Yes pls!

I think a Vita XL - for lack of a better term - priced at $249 and a standard Vita at $199 would be a better value proposition.

Edit: And the media really should give it a year before...

You could replace "Nintendo" in Patcher's statement with "MS" or "Sony" fanboys too. The most committed fanboys (and girls) are absurdly detached from reality and develop crazed associations and relationships with a brand.

He does need a proper handler though, the man rarely checks himself before he speaks.

- It continues the gear-bloat, gear-treadmill instead of actually addressing the issue. Very little challenge as others have said, its just a refined skinner box.

You've hit the nail on the head (with many of the comments in this thread). The thing is, these events aren't exclusionary. There isn't some "gay" test they give you at the door that if you fail you get carted off by bouncers. This is no different than Caribana or Lantern Festivals or Christian/ Baptist Assemblies. Reasonable Ethnic, spiritual and sexual rights should each be protected in an ethical society.

You can't live in a democratic nation ...

Have you seen the jublies at E3 or Comicon?

These conventions already exist.

They're (Caucasians) not an identifiable minority. If you want to have a "white pride" meeting, that's called the KKK and it may not be what you think.

If gay people want to fund and support an event like this, let them.

Its not exclusionary either, as you imply. You'd be hard pressed to find an LGBT group that would turn away heterosexuals. Most of said groups are focused on tolerance and integration, not segregation.
