This is a standard feature of the GCN architecture on the APUs or most modern graphics cards. Sony's APU has the same feature it's just not accessed via Direct X. My God, you are embarrassing.
The author of this article is missing the substantial gap in power as well. That's as big as the price difference for early adopters.
"Losers". Yes, typing on a phone is never a good idea. Thank you Grammar Sally.
But they both sold miserably YoY. 3DS was totally flat according to NPD. So we're celebrating a "winner of the loosers" competition. Every piece of hardware on the market at the moment is in a slump. I'm not an MS fan, at all, but those sales are decent for an 8 year old system. 3DS should be more worrying, given that is only a couple of years old and already a price-cut into its cycle.
@ newmonday Don't know why you're getting disagrees when that is exactly what MS is doing. As someone below mentioned MS are a software and services providers first and foremost. Hardware was only ever a secondary means of establishing their brand and ecosystem. Heck, half of their X1 exclusives are going to be on PC - Quantum Break, Project Spark, Titanfall. Halo 3 (possibly 4 too) is headed to steam. The X1 Is just another method if content delivery, and if it doesn't light the ...
@ green The expression is "right up your alley", not 'right up your street'. Your command of the English language is about as tight as your grip on reality.
What the article states is true. Why would any educated consumer pick a box that was technologically hamstringed and built around features (always online, Kinect integration) that are being dropped left and right? Honest question, but does that instill you with confidence that MS has any clue what they ...
"The increased speed of the GDDR5 RAM and GPU of the PS4 compared to the Xbox One will resonate with the hardcore gamer - those that are likely to buy on launch - instead of the Xbox One, which is - technically speaking - an inferior console and targeted mostly at providing entertainment for the living room rather than, as Seeking Alpha puts it, the "gamer's den".
Wow, the message really is getting out about the power difference. Good. Serves MS right for j...
"Flip-flopping", would be more apt.
The man is the worst kind of shill with absolutely no personality or words of his own. Sony only changed because they axed or removed all the old guard: Phil, Kutaragi, bunch of people in the EU. MS won't change so long as the rot still lies up top - Spencer, Mattick. If anything I feel sorry for the man, as he as to spout their decrees like a mindless puppet.
If the 13th is accurate, NA will get it sooner, that is always the way. Licencing issues always hold up stuff in EU. But if Sony can get it out in Europe by mid-November, that means late October for NA, which would be killer. It would also allow them to get another shipment out for Black Friday after the initial allotment is gobbled up.
Running an MMORPG is far more taxing than running a standard game; that's why the graphics are less detailed or operate at lower frame-rates compared to a single-player game with the settings cranked right up. Also Shadow of the Eternals is vapourware that had its kickstarter canned. Shouldn't be using that as a citation or example for anything other than how to ruin a game's development.
If you think that a 1.2 GHZ triple core broadway CPU and a 4650 GPU can run ...
So late October for NA then.
@ element, that is incorrect. The link you gave is for current best sellers, the link I gave is for best sellers for 2013 as a whole. The daily best sellers change all the time. And yes the link I gave you is for the US hence the .com.
That sure is some creative spin you're using though. In yearly tallies the PS4 is at number 2, the X1 at number 8. Period. That is in the US. Period. In the UK its even worse. WW everything favours the PS4. The $100 will be MS' biggest ...
Remarkable amounts of delusion on your part. The price will be the biggest casual consumer obstacle. Weaker tech at the expense of Kinect will always be a black eye in the face of tech enthusiasts.
Oh, and since people like amazon so much:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/be...
PS4 #2
X1 #8
X1 is being outsold 4:1 on Amazon....
Forgot:
- weaker hardware
- PS4 multiplats will look better
- no legacy solution at all. PS4 has Gaikai. (I suppose you might be able to plug your old 360 into the HDMI in, but that would kill the TV functions.)
It doesn't have the horsepower for a Cryengine MMO. Who writes this crap? Its more likely to be another F2P offering on PS4/ X1.
For weaker hardware. This and the camera is why they will continue to struggle. The yield issues won't help come launch either.
The meltdowns have been glorious. Can't wait for the Digital Foundry comparisons. The asylums better have lots of free rooms padded and ready.
I still wouldn't touch an X1 at this point: weak hardware, high price and a spy cam. MS' business plan seems to consist of equal parts confusion and denial too. Not exactly confidence instilling.
Yes its "good marketing" to completely drag your brand that you've built up for over a decade through the mud for months with ambiguity and muddled PR.

The goal-posts that people are using this gen are spectacularly fast moving and wide.
@ Elite Gamer. This is the yearly bestsellers list. Hate to burst your bubble:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/be...
Ps4 (Launch Day) #2
Xbone (Day One) #8
A little perspective for ya.
Someone who gets it. This is a pretty standard GPU feature, not some special secret sauce. The level of stupidity from the Xbox faithful is reaching critical levels of hilarity and self-delusion.
