Wrong. I grew up on C64 games or text-based MMORPGs. Most people in their mid to late 30s were PC enthusiasts long before touching a Nintendo console.

Vita is made out of high end cell phone parts, and it will be almost 2 years old come November. They are certainly making a profit on every unit sold. So no, there won't be any loss on Sony's side.

Edit: "Around" $500, probably means $549.

If people actually give the Sorceress more than a passing glance, they'd notice that she's really an ancient hag just posing as a nubile, busty woman. Examine her character select tarot card and you'll see the hag on the other end of it. Classic Swords and Sorcery stuff, nothing to be offended over.

Yes to all those, particularly LoD and MedEvil - that series had such charm to it, great platforming and action too. Oh, and of course Wild Arms needs an honorable mention.

That's why the PS3 has the highest Netflix attach rate out of last gen consoles. Nor is the service behind a paywall (confirmed free without PS+ on PS4) AND Netflix came later to the PS3 as well. Guess the author forgot about bluray last-gen too.

Fail article is fail. MS PR are in overdrive atm.

Edit: As Hammad mentioned the $100 price differential is what will really kill MS.

Maybe he means "milk of the poppy", as in they're high on opium. I would agree with that.

Incredible. Blown away. Multi-strata environments that are totally destructable. Class-swapping on the fly. Action combat system. Parkour movements for every class. Full paperdolling and advanced crafting. Permanent, group events. Player housing and design tools: you can MAKE things IN the game - literally. I've missed a tonne of things, but those were the ones that stood out to me.

Can't wait. Doubt I'll be playing much else once this launches.

Game sounds like an absolute hot mess. Best summary I read on Neogaf was: "open world breast-enhancement simulator."

But it is a PR play. Not a bad one either. In case you haven't noticed the past few weeks have seen a barrage of positive MS tech articles starting with the DF RAM nonsense (192 GB "theoretical output". They're trying to claw back from the perceived - and quite real - technological inferiority against their direct competitor.

At least this beats Mattick's ramblings or the schizophrenic PR we've been treated to since the unveiling of the X1. Truth is,...

I OC all the time. 100mhz on a 7790, 660 and 680 (three cards I've all tweaked) is about 4-5 FPS when run through benchmarking tests. I wasn't talking about bottom of the basement GPUs obviously, you can't squeeze performance out of a turd. We're looking at mid-range> lower high-end spectrum GPUs, which is what these are. 100 mhz is hardly a "small" uptick on an 800mhz GPU if we're talking about base clock frequency.

You're being contentio...

I know where the terminology comes from, but I don't expect most young, modern gamers - or gaming critics - to know or care for the subtly.

53 Mhz, which is next to nothing. Takes it up to a 1.3 TF machine (from 1.24) compared to 1.8 on the PS4. To give you an idea of what that sort of overclocking does on PC components, 100 Mhz can squeeze out another 4-5 FPS: so half of that. This uptick puts it close to a 7770m or thereabouts - again showing how erroneous that abstract DF theoretical performance article was. In any event, the hardware is still miserably overpriced for the $500 asking price. Most sub $400 laptops have better co...

Looks awful. Like a "B" tier Uncharted. I know its in development, but still. And that name... They're inviting more controversy than is good for the game.

Really? "Wait for DF?" After the PS4 RAM fiasco that was triple redacted. Or the "192 GB/s" RAM loophole that was left completely unexplained and based purely on the word of MS reps. How can Ledbetter be taken at face value for anything he says?

Well now that the X1 no longer has mandatory online, can you please explain to me what happens when you play Forza offline? Sub-hd graphics? Lower FPS? No AA? You'll need to do all that "complex AI" locally, reclaiming that mythic 10--20%. These sorts of claims are pure bs. Honestly, I thought that people were smarter than this. And we haven't even gotten into latency or bandwidth discussions yet, which are the real wrench in this whole merry-go-round of hyperbole.

Vita sold about 400-450K (if we extrapolate based on NPD, Media Create and Chart Track and take away PSP sales), which is nothing to sneeze at. Not to mention Sony makes a profit off the thing with every unit and highway robbery off the memory card prices. Even with small volumes it makes money for them. They'll probably give it more of a push next year once the PS4 is out and market it as a companion device along with price-cuts, new software and bundles.

4593d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

They also nabbed Monster Hunter. If that had stayed on the PS brand, the Vita to 3DS ratio would be VERY different. Sony also screwed up by delaying the Vita launch and giving the 3DS too much time on the market. So its not just "price". For example, there are many, many mobile phones cheaper than the iPhone or S4, but people don't want them, they want those brands.

Price+software+early lead+a bit of luck=3DS success.

Yes, an "*" is needed, as there is some fine print for Kinect and a bunch of multiplat PC titles. I really wish the manufacturers would stop doing that. If its on more than one platform, its not "exclusive". I can play it somewhere else and probably with better post-processing and performance (PC). I buy consoles for games I can't get ANYWHERE else. If too much homogenization happens this gen, I might end up mostly on PC + handheld.

Element, I'm mid-30s and I certainly remember the 3DO, which I don't consider a mainstream system as it was such an abortion. Did it even get a WW release? I don't remember. I also recall playing Atari, Commedore 64, Colecovision, MUDs and all the other early gaming mediums. You have difficulty making comments without insulting people, you should work on that.
