Its the YEN exchange working in their favor. Their operating income is still at a loss. Economics people.

Edit: If you disagree then its because you can't read or choose not to pay attention. The "loss" is right there in their .pdf. Nothing quite like ruffling fanboy feathers on N4G. Better than coffee for a pick-me-up :)

Thank you for your eloquent rebuttal.

Actually the Vita is outselling the Wii U, so I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here. Software sales are better too.

4596d ago 4 agree3 disagreeView comment

There is no way to spin 160K worldwide sales in 3 months. I checked and that's worse that DC/ Saturn levels. Sure, software will help, but the underlying problem is that NO ONE WANTS THE PRODUCT or, more precisely, the features that it offers. I'm sure people will buy the next Mario and Zelda, however those are the diehard Nintendo converts. There is no "blue ocean" of consumers lining up for the Wii U and there never will be. Not to mention that Nintendo has completely squa...

3DS sales are down 25% YoY. That's not "strong" that's "weakening". Wii U sales are tracking almost as bad - or worse, I have to check - than Saturn's.

Some extremely selective reporting. The author forgot to mention the rest of Nintendo's dismal financials. Like how the Wii (210K) OUTSHIPPED the Wii U, which moved only 160K units WORLDWIDE the whole quarter. Or how 3DS units were down 25% YoY - particularly in the Americas and EU. And still no adjustments made to the targets: 9 million for the Wii U in another 9 months is particularly laughable with the 160K dent thus far. Iwata needs to go. He got lucky with the Wii, but is now driving...

2nd that. FF: ARR is fanservice of the highest order, and its glorious! ARR is what happens when developers listen to consumer feedback, filter out the excess and distill it to pure enjoyment. Most fun I've had in an MMORPG in a while. Up there with my virgin EQ or vanilla WoW experience. ARR gives me hope that there are at least some people at SE who still know how to make great games.

See you all in Eorzea!

Is this a satirical post? Yes, they 'should' do about half of those things, but they certainly won't. Netflix is confirmed behind a paywall. Kinect will surely have plenty of shovelware - its never had much else. And the price can be lowered, but they've gone on record stating that they won't: that they just need to explain the value proposition better.

Please join the rest of us back in reality. I'm not saying that MS won't be successful, but they...

I think its more about providing what the consumer wants than trying to push a corporate agenda that doesn't seem to have much consumer confidence anyhow (read: Kinect/ TV/ Lifestyle functionality). I was an Xbox fan back when they invested in brilliant new IPs like Lost Odyseey (still one of last gen's great JRPGs), but I jumped out around 2010 when MS lost sight of what gave them their position in the industry: making a box for core gamers that had a slick user and community interfa...

Wow, might as well take out the Kinect that no one wants and make it competitively priced at $400 ($399). That's the biggest elephant in the room that MS doesn't want to address.

Or do a backup save. I did that with Nier after getting ending A (or D or whatever - the fourth one), as it wipes out your save once you see the final cutscene.

4598d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

It should have been a $20 digital title. That's not an insult, but consumers would have received it better. There's just too many fantastic games to choose from at this point in a generation to pay full price for something that is "okay".

"... your pedantic analysis." Sounds better, don't you agree? If you want me to be pedantic, I certainly can be. You seem to have missed the point that people don't play WoW with controllers; its perhaps the least friendly game for doing so. The rest of the article reads like a typical "videogames are bad" piece. I'm simply calling into question the tone and flaws in the narrative that is being presented. That's not to say that videogame addiction isn't...

"I panicked, given the state I was in, as well as my apartment, but I still couldn't put down the controller."

Now I'm not a fan of World of Warcraft (the "addiction" in this article), but playing WoW with a controller - even with Pinacle software or Joy2key - leads me to believe that either the reporter or the subject are rather clueless. A lot of modern MMORPGs play well with a controller, WoW is certainly not one of those.

The 4.5 gig rumor was redacted and amended so many times by Digital Foundry that the article itself was baseless by default.

@thecoroner, maybe you're just not paying attention, but this whole article revolves around a legit, NAMED PS developer who is debunking Richard's claims. A developer who exists and is a person unlike every "insider" Richard has used to construct his straw-man. I realize that I'm taking the time to explain something to a person not interested in reason, but its a Sunday and I'm feeling charitable.

Do read carefully next time. Even if you browsed the ...

You know that one of Richard Ledbetter's "sources" was a crazy Xbox fanboy banned from Neogaf right? And if you actually READ that article that you linked, you'll see Richard use MICROSOFT 'SOURCES' TO TALK ABOUT FLAWS IN THE PS4 SETUP. I mean, obviously there's no bias there at all (sarcasm) That should give you an idea of how far down the rabbit hole we've gone with this fiasco.

I think that the lesson here is that DF was so far off the mark its laughable. Richard Ledbetter seems to be on some sort of campaign to convince the public that the hardware difference between the two machines are negligible. He's beginning to demonstrate that he has about as much technical understanding as "experts" on N4G, and little to no journalistic integrity, considering the constant amendments to his speculations (THREE in one day on the RAM article). He couldn't eve...

DF published an article without sourcing it out to Sony and made TWO amendments in less than a DAY. That is the definition of sloppy journalism and "backtracking."

Oh look DF backtracking AGAIN. What a circus. So 5.5 GB. Base OS of 1.5 with an additional 1 GB for future use - OS or game. Quite reasonable.
