Truth is, nobidy knows if it's a $50 game or a $70 dollar game. No one has played the game yet. We don't know how long the game is, and we don't know about the quality of the gameplay or replayability.
I wonder what you are basing your assessment on, just the trailers?
lets be honest, most people don't even read the articles. No one that has commented has talked about the 3D audio or the use of haptic feedback in the game. I loved how Bluepoint used the haptic feedback in Demon's Souls, and I'm really interested to see what HouseMarquee do with it as well.
You obviously havent played any housemarque games.
Interesting little article by PushSquare about Returnal's price - https://www.pushsquare.com/...
It's an interesting converstion about the value proposition of Returnal; but the truth of the matter is that it is Sony that set the price, so it's likely that they are confident in the AAA quality of the game. On the other...
@VerminSC
Sony have said they will continue to support the PS4 for the next 3-4 years, also they seem to be diversifying their delivery platforms a little bit, i.e. releasing more of their AAA portfolio on PC. So it would'nt surprise me if as part of that we still see a PS4 version of God of War Ragnarok etc, and it would not surprise me at all if the franchise eventually makes it way to PC either.
The Division 3 - is that you?
I was holding out for another Forbidden Siren Game, but now I will just have to shed a tear for my shattered dreams 😥
Depends on the replayability as well. In my experience, roguelikes are usually not very long. The length of these games usualy comes partly from the spawn-die-repeat gameplay loop, as well as the replayability factor. From what I see, I'm probably going to die lots of times, and love every minute of it as well.
Looks fun so I know I'll be getting it day one.
😎
I hear you about that price point, but I'm still going to jump in with Returnal day1. I like what I see, and I've loved all HouseMarque's previous games that I've played. But yeah, I did think twice when I saw the price.
I think they tested that theory with Star Wars Jedi : Fallen Order. It was singleplayer only and proved profitable for them. Also my understanding is that Dragon Age 4 is still primarily singleplayer, at least I hope they haven't shoehorned GaaS model into the game.
😆
Can't wait for this game! There really isn't anything out right now that's like it. Shame about the delay, but it's great that Sony were willng to give it the extra dev time it needed. I guess it's about time Playstation got it's own Metroid.
Hmmm... a listing of "dark RPG's" with no mention of any of the Soulsbourne games seems abit... odd. Unless you're considering them to be in a whole other genre by themselves. Bloodbourne has to be by far the darkest RPG I've played in a long long time; in comparison Dragon Age (specifically 2 & 3) is a saturday morning cartoon.
I think the key take away is that you can't simply buy over night success. Just becasause they didn't strike gold out the gate they decided to quit. Shows that they were only in it for instant cash. From the reports it sounds like one thing they both had in common was understaffing their dev teams. It's all well a good hiring high profile executives and prodicers, but if the grunts on the ground are not stocked, fed and watered properly you'll end up with a dud everytime.
Onimusha was a great franchise. I wish they'd relaunch the franchise with a next gen entry. Until then though, I guess Sekiro is more than capable of filling the gap left by Onimusha.
It seems the sharks can smell blood in the water...
All round brilliant game, and well worth the playtime.
At this rate it might be best if they just relaunch the game when the next gen updates are ready, along with the DLC etc. They've been burned by shareholder expectations, I hope they don't repeat the same mistake by allowing shareholders to dictate their schedules, instead of the QA and dev teams - who are the ones who know when the content is ready for market.
Resident Evil 8, Rachet and Clank, Horizon Forbiden West etc etc... I highly doubt that these could be called "rush jobs."
Also, think about the fact that Sony released Sackboy's Adventure and Miles Morales at £60, but they released Demons's Souls at the £70 becasue of the AAA status of that game. The fact that they are also releasing Returnal at the £70 price point suggests that they view it as a full AAA title.
