I guess we should have started this conversation by first "asking what platform you're playing the game on?" This makes all the difference in the (Cyberpunk) world. 😅

That 90 Metacritic rating though? Oh wait... it's now sitting at 89.

Good to see some retribution.

So not true. They would have "won" if they had simply released the game when it was ready. Which incidentally is what they always said they would do. No one forced CDPR to release a broken game, not even their investors. Why do you think their stock shares have dropped by 30%.

They shot themselves in the foot, and they only have themselves to blame for it.

A reactive world enhances the sense of immersion regardless of the genre of the game. But even more so in an open world RPG. If I steal a cop car right next to a police officer and he doesn't even bat an eye, or if I start shooting my gun in public and the pedestrians just keep strolling by as if I'm not even there - it really does break the immersion and the world building. That's what makes Rockstar games best in class, the world knows that you are there and reacts to you approp...

I hear you. But the sheer fact that GTAV has sold over 100million copies, suggests that there are over 100million people having lots of fun with that game. When it re-releases on next gen consoles, it will still go on to top the charts. I think that answers all the arguements about Rockstars pedigree.

I strongly disagreee.

Have you never hear the phrase " a picture is worth a thousand words?"

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a video worth?

The point is, why tell, when you can simply show.

It's a much better demonstration of CDPR's clusterfcuk that is Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles.

At this point they're going to need a re-release on consoles.

No one asked them to delay the game for 3 weeks, when they knew it wan't enough time to deal with the issues facing the game. That was their decision - not the gaming public.

When they initially announced this game PS4 and XboxOne where not even out yet. Think about that for a second. PS4 and X1 were the next-gen consoles when Cyberpunk 2077 was annonced.

If they knew they could not develop a working game for PS4 and X1, then they should have simply t...

Yeah, Rockstar remain unmatched when it come to world building and the reactivity of the world around the player. CDPR still have a long way to go in this regard. It's a shame I really thought they were taking notes, I guess they haven't been paying attention over the last 12 years to how reactivity in open world games have evolved. I hope they get called out for it so that they improve, giving them a free pass doesn't help them learn from their mistakes.

I guess the idea is for these issues to become so normalised that when we see a trans character in a game we no longer have to make a song and dance about it either way.

Plus, this is the cyberpunk universe, so these things have become ubiquitous within that world.

tbh, the sooner the community stop trying to make themselves the centre of everything, the sooner we can get back to enjoying gaming for what it is, without the need for identuty politics.

I love the word "unmitigated." Although in this case I think CDPR tried to mitigate the disaster by delaying the game. In all honesty they should have delayed the game to Q1 2021. They would have still retained their 8million pre-orders, and could have addressed most, if not all the bugs as well as having a proper next-gen launch.

Unmitigated disaster is actually quite right.

I don't think that's fair criticism. Thier previous games are still excellent. Altghough I agree that they should have stuck to their guns about "We'll release it when it's ready".

The game clearly isn't ready for release - on last gen consoles at least; and they should have delayed it until march. But lets not pretent as though the investors were not breathing down their necks either.

It does make you wonder what they spent ...

Absolutely brilliant game. I've got it on PC and honestly wouldn't mind getting it on PS5, especially since there's added content etc.

2014d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

I actually agree with you. They should have just delayed the game until Feb/March and given themselves enough time to squach the bugs and optimise for current-gen/last gen consoles, as well as release the next-gen upgrade.

I absolutely can't wait for the Digital Foundry analysis of this across the consoles.

So far it seems for the best Cyberpunk experience it's: PC > PS5 > Series X > Series S >Ps4Pro

2014d ago 7 agree29 disagreeView comment

Yeah, I fell sorry for teh people who have to experience this on "last gen" consoles. It'll just ruin the overall experince. Obviously the scope and ambition for the game is beyond what PS4 and X1 can handle.

It's a classic case study in why cross-gen games can't really also be next-gen games. Now that next-gen consoles are out, I hope developers focus their resources on next-gen games.

Shallow reductionism at its finest; this is a pure low quality clickbait article fishing for hits off the Cyberpunk release. At least give examples of which quest or missions you couldn't play in a variety of ways, and which didn't give you different end states.

Can't they simply change the colour in the sequence from red to green or something like that? I'm not a programmer so I really don't but yeah, they should have caught this in testing.

2016d ago 0 agree3 disagreeView comment

I hope CDPR get wind of this issue. It seems like a major oversight to have sequences in game that bear direct correlation to real world devices intended to induce seizures. I hope CDPR can change the lighting in the BD sequence to avoid unwittingly indicing seizures in gamers.

Probably because they didn't want to give the unpatched code to reviewers? Plus, I can't imagine this game running all that well on PS4 & X1, so it makes sense from a PR point of view to send codes of the PC version.
