That being said, I'm still on #1 with no problems since launch. Seems my case is more the exception though.
At least the warranty was extended.... I just hope mine doesn't break at the 3 year 1 day point.

Honest question, does the 80 GB PS3 have full backwards compatibility like the 60 GB version? I know there were news articles in the past when an 80 GB version was rumored for Korea that said they were ditching the backwards compatibility on it. Does anyone know if that is true?
Why would people disagree? Read the interviews with Houser. He clearly states there will be no major differences between the versions. Sure there might be slight graphical differences, or perhaps slight control differences. But the core content will be the same. The 360 and the PS3 are getting the same story, the same missions, the same everything.

Rockstar has said there will be no differences between the PS3 and 360 versions except that the 360 will get exclusive downloadable content. I'll trust their word over this "he said she said" bullsh!t.
It's good that they are cutting the price of the 60gb model. It's still too high for my taste, but at least it's a better deal now. Not really sure what the point is of an 80gb version though. Couldn't they have at least shot for 120 to match the 360 Elite?
Yes, MS is setting aside 1.1 Billion as expected costs associated with repairs. However, that doesn't mean they will use that much. It's a prediction, not an exact amount.
It's also 1.1 Billion over 3 years. It's still alot per year (<400 million), but in reality with the amount of money they make, it will have little effect on them.
How am I in denial? I am a huge fan of the 360. I haven't had any hardware issues. However, I fully recognize that alot of people have. I also recognize that Microsoft has been taking steps to correct it. I'm not blind to the fact that MS probably should've tested their products better or chosen more reliable manufactorers, but for me, the benefits I've had far outweigh the risks. Will I be pissed if my console breaks? Sure.... but at least I know I can get it replaced for free.

MS has had an ungodly number of console failures. I'm glad they are extending the warranty. However, it does make me wonder. I have a launch console still. I've never had any problems with it. Should I purposely try to trigger the red rings of death to get them to replace it with a newer improved model? Or should I just hope to god that my 360 doesn't break come 3 years and 1 day?

Next Gen has nothing to do with technology, graphics, controllers, etc.
If random electronics company X releases a new system to compete with the 360, PS3, and the Wii, it is of the same generation as those systems and should be called "next gen" or current gen now really.
