Fail? No. Live up to the hype for many? Sure
Still not understanding why we are bothering with "spiritual successors" when actual STALKER would be better. Far as I know the license is still with GSC and crowdfunding is a real option... sooo... yea.
Why do you suppose they were locked in trench warfare?
Why were tanks needed?
Even if it were complicated, which I just can't believe is the case, this is the Sims, not some upstart franchise and is worth a bit of effort.
Sure, DLC may not be "made prior to release", but it is planned. Everyone got upset (rightly so) about DLC being produced before release, but to get around that, EA, Ubi, etc. just slice it up before then "work on it later". Bunch of bullshit.
I really don't mind DLC, but I absolutely hate ...
I think Namco-Bandai is just handling the distribution.
I'll be honest, I'm a lot less enthused for a PC "port". Not that it had to be exclusive to the PC, or any other platform, but it might have benefited from an audience already primed for this sort of game.
I don't begrudge them for making it a timed exclusive to PS4 and I certainly hope PS4 gamers reward their efforts, but I'm not that excited about a "port" of this game.
The author could have left out the douchy tone. Not all Early Access games are trying to steal your money by magically getting you to actually buy an early access game...somehow.
Just another one of those "articles" whining about early access for hits. Yawn.
Last I heard Rally was going to be an expansion post release.
Whether that is still the plan, I don't know, but even if they are just going "simcade", it would take a bit of work, so it makes sense to do it as an add on.
Well you must not be from the US or you wouldn't believe something so absurd.
I remember the first time I played FF7, got 5 min in and shut it off, couldn't stand it.
I'm not hatin on it, I fully agree that it's a great game, but it was the first time I can remember genuinely not liking a game.
It was me and not the game.
Well recently what they've been saying is that they would "like" to do a PC version and that they are "debuting" the game on PS4.
Also that they don't have enough staff to do 2 versions or something.
Sounds like they are going for the PS4 first then if they have the money/time a PC version.
Point is, they aren't sounding very definite about a PC version, which is why I take this article with a truck load of s...
You also have to understand that the vast majority of the screens and videos were coming from backers and not SMS.
Infinity Tech demo is another example.

That was from 2010, but there was a video years before showing a seamless transition from space to the planet surface.
You will also notice around the 2:30 - 2:50 mark he begins selecting random stars which you can travel to.
@Eonjay
It sounds like Sony stepped in and got it exclusive to PS4 for a time.
Will probably get ported sometime, but I think that's going depend on its success, which isn't a forgone conclusion IMO.
Technically it wasn't green-lit yet. Still a concept.
Selling far more copies of their game than they had anticipated...is why devs stray from the PC?
Posting before reading leads to stupid comments, hence the single bubble.
Is that not worse? What the hell does Activision want? A giant banner on the Moon?
The budget for the actual game would have to be at least half that, and still it would be in the top 3 budgets of all time.
At an absolute minimum this game is going to be loaded with MTs and DLC.
While I don't think they will "force" a subscription fee, I wouldn't be surprised if the add a sub that works like season pass. pay monthly and get a stipend for MTs and access to DLC.
That's a really old article and it mentions that steam had at that time 6 million active users.
I'm not sure what numbers you are calling realistic since they are 1. out of date and 2. total number of accounts created and not active accounts.
@uth11
That may have all been true to some degree, many years ago, but its not anymore. Not even close.
Only browse sites you trust, don't pirate games, and viruses and spyware won't happen. Worst case, you can FDisk it, which has also become much easier.
Constant hardware upgrades? Not anymore thanks to consoles holding things back and the massive influx of indies that aren't always trying to push the envelope. VR and higher res ...
