What you don't understand is Geralt is not just a character, he's much more. Geralt is the perspective of the outsider, the frame in which the story is told. His perspective is the whole point.

The point of ES games is to be a nobody. to be dropped into a world that, in theory, doesn't revolve around you.

They are different types of narratives that have different perspectives. Changing that would harm the story.

Of course it does.

Before long games will probably be literally split and sectioned off so you have to buy each part from different retailers.

I kid, of course, but tell its not depressing that it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Guess what, I'm clairvoyant. I totally called that you would try to back all that BS up with "I have a degree in computer science and work in software development."

If you actually did, you wouldn't have posted all that crap. You aren't fooling anyone, troll.

Want help being more convincing? Try sticking to reality. The reality is that for the last generation, few games were designed to push the current tech to it...

I disagree, that it "can't" live up to the hype, but you do touch on something important here with regards to "what's the point?".

No doubt many will be drawn to a game that may not have a "point" in the traditional sense. The problem is, will it be enough.

There also a "jack-of-all-trades master-of-none" thing that might be an issue. For instance:

1. How detailed will s...

There's no question really that a team of 7 can deliver, its more of a question whether those who are intrigued by the concept actually like it.

The procedural stuff isn't hard to do (its been achieved before), its all about assets and really having enough.

Then there's the issue of "how big is too big" and "how much direction is the player base going to need".

For those that are curious about the size of the ...

Things, its "you" not the computer.

You cannot blame the computer because its a foreign concept to you.

Seriously, I am genuinely surprised you are even able to post here.

Its, either, you are so computer illiterate that there should be laws in place to stop you from ever using one, or, you are just making crap up. You pick.

Yes, if you are trying to game on a 486 these days you are going to have problems. Yea, you&...

No "hand-holding" is all well and good, but have to have a quality game first. And if track-records are anything to go by, this will be a buggy mess.

As a bonus, the story and dialog will be god awful too.

To remake the first one entirely, in their own engine would take far to much time and isn't likely to generate enough sales to be worth it.

I would love it they did port the first 2 to the PS4 and the first one to Xbox, but the reality is its just too much for these guys to do. CDPR doesn't just throw ports around for easy money. They try to ensure the best possible experience, which takes time. Time better spent on their new stuff.

It could have been a lot more like SWG.

SWTOR is great when taken as the only alternative to Kotor 3. As an MMO, its so-so. Where SWG was certainly rough around the edges it was a great "MMO" for its time. It welcomed all play styles, even non-combat. Its economy was also largely depended on its player-base. The space portion of SWG out classes SWTOR's attempt by so much its rather pathetic.

Its not for every game or developer. A linear, level-based game with a small, part-time team won't do well with early access.

A sandbox game with a small, full-time team will fare better.

But these are issues that will iron themselves out over time.

Know what you mean.

3 whole mouse-clicks to install a game. 1 click to play a game. 1 click to install drivers, did that twice this year so far, thought my finger would fall off.

Goodness me, I'm not sure how much longer I can do all this mouse-clicking.

I mean, you can clearly see why I dread having to install a game, its 3 CLICKS!! How anyone can endure such hardship I'll never know.

What's declining is the amount of people buying pre-built PCs that are a huge rip off.

Not only that, laptops for non-gaming use were replaced by tablets and handhelds.

All this leads to increased hardware sales as more and more people either build their own gaming PC or upgrade an existing one.

Building a PC may not be as cheap as a console but its not hard to do. If you can build with Lego's you can build a PC.

Piracy has fallen way off.

But by all means go ahead and download all the virus infested games you want. I'll gladly pay not to have the hassle.

So, one of the things I loved doing in SE is crashing ships. Trying to produce an epic wreck. Too often I would miss the target or glance off and the result was always unspectacular.

One time though, I decided to mess around with hijacking the transports that you can have randomly spawn. Now I was aware of booby traps and had experienced one first hand. Big explosion, and the ship is crippled or destroyed.

So I go and hijack a military transport, which is bas...

I actually don't know about PSN at all, but there was something about pre-ordering and credit card charges that you might want to look into. Meaning, it might have to do with the credit card company or something.

Something about how it shows up, or some automated system or something.

Sorry, that isn't very helpful. But the situation you described sounds so familiar that I just thought I would throw that out there.

Its right on the tip...

You aren't "paying to test a game". You buy the game early and play it as it progresses through development. And when its released you get what you already paid for.

Sometimes Early access games costs more and sometimes it costs less. Its NOT forced on anyone and can be completely ignored until release.

Gamers being involved in the process and developers getting constant feedback on every little thing will produce a better game in the end. If it...

Here's a video showing what a procedural galaxy with billions of star systems looks like and just how big it actually is.

For an even better idea go download Space Engine, its free.

Hello Games is saying 90% of the systems are going to be uninhabited. Go and find life in Space Engine. Then you will see the problem.

@JackBNimble

How can buying something and then getting that something be a taken as a "scam"?

Thing is, scams involve one party not living up to their part of the bargain.

I buy a game, I get a game: Not a scam.

I buy a game and get a toaster: Scam.

In this case CIG is selling various items and providing those items to the folks who paid money for them. What they purchased and for how much is entir...

I'm starting to think people that use the word "scam" a lot, don't actually know what it means, IMO.
