This isn't like Watch Dogs or any other big release where there is a release day where 99% play it for the first time. Many are already playing it and will be playing right up to completion.

There won't be any surprises when its done.

LOL!!!

A game with 800,000 peak players DAILY, sucks? Right, moving on.

You can say PC gaming is dead all you want, doesn't mean its actually true.

Don't really need them. Self publishing has become far easier and is getting easier all the time.

Personally I'm getting fed up with bloated AAA budgets that do more to advertise a game instead of making said game.

More money = more risk = watered down games, whose goal is overall sales instead of unique games.

@Chrischi1988

This game wasn't entirely funded by PC and WiiU owners. SMS put something like 20% into its development.

Also, the backers are still going to see a return on their investment regardless what system it sells on. So a boycott would, in fact, apply to them as well.

See, I'm not saying WiiU owners don't have a right to be upset, just that maybe they stop and think about their options before having a knee jerk reaction. ...

This game was NOT traditionally crowdfunded.

Lot of folks aren't quite understanding this. The backers you refer to are investors and are going to get a portion of the profits from the game, no matter what system it sells on.

You really think the "backers" of this game would want to make it exclusive to the WiiU and PC? Of course not.

Two problems, firstly, Project CARS wasn't a Kickstarter. It was crowd funded, but a little differently. The backers are actually investors that will actually see a portion of the profits on all platforms. The backers actually helped in the development and advertising of the game.

Secondly, and most importantly, that was a fan site, and not the official SMS Facebook page.

As for boycotting it, well that hurts those who backed the game. It will also show t...

It was a fan site, as in unofficial.

@slivery

What you think is right or wrong is irrelevant. Those are the facts. The the 360/PS3 version were dropped in favor of the PS4/XOne version. It was put to a vote. They did not have the funding for both gens.

Listen, you're mad, but you're wrong.

4217d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

But they 'are' releasing the game. They aren't under contract to WiiU gamers to release the game on a certain date.

Even if you could legally do something, what would that be?

Force them to release it as is?

4217d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

While being upset at the delay is understandable, what exactly are you hoping to teach them by not buying the game? (assuming you really wanted it to begin with.)

Lets say WiiU owners rage cancel their pre-orders en mass, what then? That certainly wouldn't look good for anyone, especially the WiiU.

It sucks, but the reality is, not buying it won't hurt them as much as proving the WiiU isn't worth developing for if you have to delay. Its not an env...

Regarding the PS3 and 360 versions; They took a poll last year (or so) asking if the should ditch the old gen in favor of the the current gen and everyone wanted current gen.

They couldn't do both generations, so they had a vote and current gen won. No backstabbing there.

WiiU delay is a different story.

What he said was:

"As far as consoles go Star Citizen will never be on the PS3 or Xbox 360. As for the next gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, we have NO CURRENT PLANS, but my stance remains open and is consistent with the many interviews I’ve given."

"IF the platform holders (Sony & Microsoft) allow us to update the code and data without restrictions and odious time consuming QC procedures, IF they allow our commu...

The point that was being made was, for all intents and purposes the markets for each HMD will be separate for the near term.

Yes you can probably get Morpheus to work on the PC, but that's not how they are targeting sales.

Sony isn't going after PC gamers and OVR isn't going after PS4 gamers, so there is no competition at this point.

@Pandamobile

But why spend $300 on something that isn't officially supported?

Outside the small amount of people that are willing to buy Morpheus for ONLY their PC, the markets are pretty much separate.

Yea if you have a PS4 and PC, that would be a selling point, but I see no reason at all to get one as I don't have a PS4.

The author was making the case that:

1. PC gamers as a whole think they are genetically superior, and that it needs to be stopped before we...do something...I don't know. That simply isn't true. Its a joke, but in the end its meant to hype a platform that saw a mass exodus years back.

2. That the tech "arms race" is somehow a bad thing. Its simply not. With out it neither ATI or Nvidia would have much reason to keep pushing the limit and th...

I admit I'm not that interested in The Sims, but the idea of cutting out pieces of a game (especially ones already in the franchise prior) then selling that off as DLC is wrong and applies to more games than just The Sims.

Regardless of their excuse (which I don't buy), the extra time and effort could be made to give customers a full and complete game at launch. There will be plenty of DLC to sell.

Besides, toddlers are the most interesting age when r...

Last I heard they are going with Augmented Reality rather than VR.

It would be a smart move. It's likely going to be a LOT cheaper to produce, will work well with motion controls, and won't be as demanding as VR. They would also have the market mostly to themselves.

Now, AR (like VR) could totally bomb, but MS wouldn't be taking that big of a hit if it does.

I'm sure they are looking into VR, just in case, but I don't thin...

Gamers actually pay for games, and most of the time they buy sight unseen.

Publishers make the initial investment, which we, in turn, buy. The Publishers expect their money back, gamers just pay.

Kind of weird that the only group that can't have a say, are the ones actually purchasing the experience.

I disagree entirely with this article. Sure there's the internet being "The Internet" but that's a separate issue.

I just don't think the "issue" being discussed is an actual issue. There's no fracturing of the community based on who has the most beastly rig. Seriously, there are no games that require that and no developers targeting that. And even if there were, PC games have settings for a reason.

Point is that what rig a...
