'Ever hear of Destiny? Its a new game developed by Bungie.' <---- evidently that, requires an investment of over $100 million from Activision.

Investing in the actual game, even something small, like languages, doesn't seem nearly as wasteful as bloated marketing budgets IMO.

Try math.

Crowdfunded games are a scam unless their completed in a day and absolutely perfect. Duh.

Besides we all know this game is the most expensive game EVER in the history of games.

No Man's Sky is the first to be noticed, not the first to attempt something like this. In terms of "scale" NMS isn't the biggest either.

Witcher 1 would probably need an entire overhaul. Its and old crappy engine that they don't even use anymore.

CDPR isn't about "easy money", which is why they are so great.

4273d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Undisclosed exclusivity? No, that's not how CDPR does things.

I highly doubt they will port the other 2 games. Witcher 2? Maybe. Witcher 1? No way in hell. Really doubt they want to go back to that old, busted engine for one. And using their new engine to recreate the entire game would just be a waste of time and money.

Its not about CDPR "not wanting" to do it, its just they really don't see a profit there.

Besides, its t...

@Psychotica

And I totally agree with you on that. Except whenever crownfunding is talked about, the price is a big issue, but NOBODY even makes a peep about budget when its about GTAV or pretty much any other AAA game.

Nobody is asking for itemized lists when publishers are involved. I wish more would. Seriously, why exactly would you need to invest over $100 million for the marketing for Destiny? Just for the marketing not the development.

Just wish everyone excited about NMS was around 5 - 10 years ago.

At any rate, NMS is old tech, believe it or not.

Sure, when you take it out of context.

4274d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

How is that "amazing"? There are games that cost much more.

GTAV - $265 million total.

SWTOR - $200 million total.

Destiny - ~$140 million for development.

GTAIV - $100 million total.

Watch Dogs - $68 million total.

Where's all the gamers freaking out about that?

CIG are off buying houses, but ^^^ those guys their just toiling away making games for scraps. /s ...

@BattleAxe

That's wrong. Not sure Why you feel the need to spread false information.

They offer life-time insurance and ships for real money to fund the game. Otherwise you buy in game insurance with in-game money. Same as X3-TC.

Logitech stopped supporting wheels for console.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped making "gaming" peripherals in general, even on PC.

They were in some financial troubles or something a while back.

4275d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Well it can't be worse.

Left to their own devices they actually released that 5 minute pick-a-color video and hologram kid to end their entire trilogy.

4275d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Wow, you got that completely wrong.

You "can" buy life time insurance for a ship that you have the "option" of buying at this point in time. That is how the development is being funded.

Otherwise you use the in game credits to buy insurance, just like other space combat games.

With out EA and others (who claimed this genre dead BTW) how else are you going to fund a AAA game? Hopes and dreams?

Why is it gre...

Saying there could be a "reliance on patching" flat out ignores the real problems. Time, money, and how both are wasted. Publishers spend huge amounts of money, not just on the development, but the advertising as well.

For companies like EA, games are a product, not a passion. They delay a big release, what happens? Their shares plummet. They have forced themselves into this position of having to spend more and more money to alleviate the risk that comes with spendi...

Fact: You have no clue what you are talking about.

You actually don't, really. AAAs aren't the end all be all of gaming and, like literally everything in the gaming world, you console gamers will eventually catch on. It'll take you a few years, trapped in your cozy little bubble, but you'll come around.

But I'm not going to thank you for holding gaming back years because of that bubble.

Hi, and welcome to the year 2014. Been a while, hasn't it?

Walmart? Really?

4275d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's what settings are for. Just because you can't "max" a game doesn't mean you can't play it at very respectable settings.

4275d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

they're called graphics "options" for a reason.

Would I be able to max this day one? Nope. But with a few tweaks here and there It will run and look great. Then later on, should I decide to upgrade, I have an even better experience.

I personally like coming back to games after I've upgraded, reminds me of the time when I first put a 3D accelerator in my PC.
