While I was never a fan of the NGE they did start to get things right towards the end.
Fact is LucasArts is a shit company. To have the freedom to create SW games, produce sooo much shitty ones, then ignore the few gems that "statistically" had to emerge from the huge amount of shit that was released, takes an unfathomable degree of ineptitude and stupidity. So much so they shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near a future SW title ever again. When they got inv...
If their track record is any indication they will fail, send out yet another apology which they will promptly forget about, thus beginning the "MS fail" cycle all over again.
Something tells me that it will be all sorted out, but not before Gamestop gets an assload of preorders.
EA's problem is they have proved in the past they aren't above much of anything to squeeze money out their customers. What has Valve done? made Digital distribution convenient and cheap. And that hasn't changed. To compete with Valve, EA needs to earn the following Steam has. Besides, not selling BF3 on Steam won't hurt valve much.
Heard some things about Steam in UK not having some titles. Forget what exactly, but thought that was a local UK issue.
If EA has half a brain they will sell BF3 on Steam, if not, EA is out the money. Only one experience with EA's DD service (pre-Origin) and I won't be going back, even for ME3.
Not the greatest game ever, sure, but it deserves a proper sequel.
I really believe if the aim of a company is to "fight" piracy then they should forget the useless DRM and have a pre-release demo instead. But time and time again demos are released for consoles and not for the PC where its desperately needed.
seriously whomever does the DRM for these games must one hell of a salesman. It has to take balls to sell a product that will fail before the product is released. I know shit about DRM I admit, it seems to me a wasted effort. ...
Personally I liked SR2 a lot more than GTA 4. Im all for serious storytelling, but sometimes I just want play something crazy.
GTA 4 is a great game, don't get me wrong, I just had more fun with SR2.
unskippable cutscenes and Console UI in PC games are unforgivable. Of the entire development process, these have to be one of the easiest things to fix. I willing to put up with a lot of things but not these. The worst offenders can't even take the time to button graphics from a controller to the keyboard. ugh.
or you have dedicated server support and eliminate the cost altogether.
I have been using steam since HL2 and aside from the interface and the library very little has changed. My games have been exactly where they are since then and I haven't been charged extra for the privilege. EA wanted to charge a fee to keep it longer than 6 months. (this was before origins)
Valve has never once made me worry about whether or not I will be able to download any one o...
You are right to worry about more action, but it may be just fine. The reason for a lot of the complexity was due to not upgrading the engine much over the last decade or so. This is apparently the reason for the clumsy interface and other notable issues with the game. Also the devs are going to make the beginning of the game easier for new players then upping the complexity later.
Normally I take dev promises with a grain of salt, but the X games have pretty strong group of...
On a certain level you do have a point, But you are forgetting about all the pirates out there who don't give a damn about what you just said. Piracy isn't some movement with any single goal or purpose. While some may do it for some lofty goal you will find an equal amount who just say "fuck it all" and want free games.
The reality is, if DRM and subs disappeared tomorrow piracy would continue. Just like MS would continue to squeeze every last dime from game...
the implementation of GFWL should answer that question.
For all their bluster and promises MS is just plain bad at delivery. Example: GFWL
- PC gaming wouldn't be what it is today if not for consoles.
This is in fact, not true. You think your console just fell from the sky one day?
your others points are mostly right. though debatable.
We are dealing with it. Which is why we have a modding community. I thought the article explained at least that much. Even if it was flame-bait that failed completely to make its point.
This article only pointed out a few mods which made visual enhancements. I'm guessing you know next to nothing about the modding community.
This article did nothing to enlighten people about the PC's modding community and for that I apologize. Suffice it to say that the entire modding community does far more than visual tweaks. Its not sad at all really, we are quite happy with it and with the MANY modders out there who make our gaming experience better without askin...
and you keep spending 60 bucks a pop for games I can get for far less.
Seriously, building a PC is not nearly as expensive as you think. But hey, lets not let pesky facts get in the way right? Flame on my good man!!!
No, not all pc gamers crave better graphics. We just have different tastes in games. I couldn't care less about Uncharted and God of war, I want complexity in my games. The modding community is the main reason I stick around. You like your stuff I like my stuff, but you need to get your facts right.
Fact is you know nothing about PC game sales because you know only fraction of whats available on PC. You know even less about pirated games so I won't even go there.
Wrong.
There are plenty of Indy devs on the PC they just aren't backed by the likes of EA. You are sadly mistaken if you think your favorite games are the "end all, be all" of gaming.
You are correct that consoles are designed to reach a bigger community and is more accessible. But you haven't a clue how massive the PC community really is. You wanna know why? Because Microsoft and Sony can't make money off it. Period.

Not sure how anyone can get excited over the potential release of "information" regarding a game that should have been released already.
X-wing/TIE fighter should be the first out of the box if primarily because it would most likely cost far less to make a really nice looking version than Battlefront 3. Unfortunately unless LA either gives up the SW license to another bigger publisher or merges with one, its unlikely they will put out anything more than the SW lego games. They seem to be lacking much money currently.
At least I hope that is the case. Could be just as likely they are all a bunch of morons who ...
Why even waste the energy to type this. Seriously, its like the author just picked a game at random to bitch and whine about.
He could have saved everyone the trouble and wrote "I don't like Mass Effect."
nice article jackass.
