The Gamepad may only be just a controller - but with all the capabilities it includes - I'm not surprised.
Still cheaper than a PS4+Vita combo - though. That would run you into an instant $600+ dollars - while the Wii U includes the Gamepad at $350.
Because the Vita is an entire system while the Wii U Gamepad is just a controller? Ever thought of that?
So now - all three next-gen systems will be selling most titles at the $60 price-point.
As nice as it is - it's still a wallet killer. Just buying two games is instantly $120. 3 is 180, etc.
So let's say I went out and bought the PS4 at launch:
$400 - Console
$60 - Extra controller
$60 - Game 1
$60 - Game 2
(Without tax) = $580....Oi x_x
PS4 and Wii U have already taken the generation.
Unless Microsoft gets rid of all the unnecessary roadblocks in the console - the only people who would think to buy this thing are (in my opinion):
- Die-hard XBOX fanboys
- The uninformed customer (poor guy - you may not even be able to return it)
- A collector
- Someone who just wants something to smash . . . .
I see what you're getting at.
I've been saying that despite all the bad points - the XBOX One has a pretty decent line-up of titles.
But as for me - I'm not spending $500 on a "roadblock" console. I already own a Wii U. I want to get a 3DS later down the line and I'll hope to own a PS4 at some point - but certainly, not the XBOX One. That's just my opinion anyway. You are entitled to yours and I am entitled to mine.
I was wondering if anyone had any footage.
Lol @ the guy saying: "I don't want the SpyBox in my house."
Honestly Microsoft, the even if "most of the information of the spying features is kept on the actual XBOX" - as your representative said in the video, the DRM and no-used games, as well as the 24 hour check-in and mandatory Kinect still squashes the value of buying a $500 machine.
Overall - this was a really sad att...
*three.
Honestly; Took them long enough to say it. I was waiting to see how long it would take..heh-quicker than I thought.
Don't know why they just didn't say this from jump street instead of beating around the bush. They would have saved themselves from looking worse than they do now.
Wonder what they're gonna have to say when XBOX One tanks, though...
Anyway; I guess this proves that they were lying about the whole Frostbite 2/3 issue....
All tnree 8th gen systems can do it. HAZZAH!
Enter the generation of full HD at full speed.
It's amazing how quickly the tides have turned. Just a few weeks ago; N4G was slamming the Wii U. Every 2 new news articles were some exaggerated doom and gloom.
Now that the XBOX One is being ravaged with all these bad points - we can all see which system will really slump this generation.
How could Microsoft make the successor to the successful XBOX 360 so bad? I mean really....You get something good going then you ruin it? It's like a bad movie seq...
That awkward moment when the biggest American video game retailer has to warn people about what the mess they'll be getting themselves into from buying the new console of the biggest American game company.
(I'm not saying "American" in a derogatory/racist sense BTW - it's just the irony of it all...)
So first you reveal a game console - but talk about the un-important TV features.
Then you get blown up with reports that your new "game" console seems to be shooing away gamers more than trying to bring them in with DRM, 24-hour mandatory online check-in, and banning used-games.
Then you announce that your system will cost $500 just because you decided to make Kinect mandatory...
Then when you do show the games - the reality still ...
Nintendo did make some bold moves so far. The line-up is nice; but the sad part is that a lot of these gold games won't be coming out until next year, and not first-thing next year ~ you're looking towards anytime after March.
The Wii U needs games NOW in order to successfully combat the looming X1 and PS4 (ESPECIALLY PS4).
But knowing Nintendo, this probably isn't everything. Wasn't there a rumor about Miyamoto having a new IP in the works? A...
But external hard drives are very inexpensive, so it's not like you'll be spending megatons of cash on a single HD. Wii U still comes under the PS4 in terms of pricing, because in the end, despite being reasonably affordable, you're still going to have to purchase games ($60) and controllers. Add that on to the $400 price tag.
So far that's two games from N that are confirmed to be rendered at 1080p. Sweet.
I would guess that Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 get the same treatment too, perhaps? Maybe even DKC: Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3?
Blue - My favorite color (thus my name Extreme'Azure').
My take on the box-art designs for each 8th-gen system:
1.) Wii U (Gotta love the Gamecube crescent), and nice blue coloring.
1.) (Yes, they both share first place) - The PS4's blue is a bit more pleasing to the eye. Looks like a bigger version of PS-Vita's box-art design.
2.) XB-One ~ Has a nice and sleek design - but I just prefer PS4's and Wii U's box-a...
Well I'll be. o_o
I honestly was expecting a higher price - But good for Sony to release the PS4 at a (some-what) reasonable price.
Wii U: $350 ~ Free online. No DRM. Allows used games.
PS4: $400 ~ Paid-online. NO DRM. Allows used games.
XB-One: $499 ~ Paid-online. DRM. Used games not allowed.
Sony & Nintendo take the cake. Sorry Microsoft; you get a nice glass of water...That's good enough, right?
Looks like it's (mostly) all good news from Sony. Now; Just want to hear the price.
Are they the winners? No - Not yet. Nintendo hasn't shown their cards yet - and neither the XB-One or PS4 have been released yet. We'll see who's the real king of the 8th-gen when the 9th-gen swings around.
But either way - today ~ Sony, you did good.
XB-One: DRM. No free online. Mandatory XBOX Live. Doesn't allow used games
PS4: No DRM. No free online. PS Plus not mandatory. Allows used games.
Wii U: No DRM. Free online. Allows used games.
Sony and Nintendo get the upper-hand M ~ better move fast.
PS4 is priced at an awesome sweet-spot. $50 than the Wii U and $100 less than the One.
Seeing that I've already bought the U - I'm going to have to hold out on the 4 until some more bucks roll in and also if there's any games that truly interest me...I know "All the PS4 has is games!" - But I'm not in to FPSs, beat-em ups and such - which is mostly what it includes so far.
