I seriously don't know how EA's view of Nintendo and the Wii U could have changed in just two simple years. At E3 2011, Iwata invited the (now-former) CEO of EA on stage and all he did was ramble on about how they have an "unprecedented partnership" with Nintendo - and throwing a nice, vivid imagination of EA games on the Wii U into the minds of everyone who was listening.
Now; it's come to still having an "unprecedented partnership" - yet refu...

- Why do you think I emphasized the term "late ports"? A lot of these ports are late and were available on older, more established systems months before. Even the ones that were released for on the Wii U just a tad after the other systems, didn't get much attention because many could buy them for a cheaper price on systems they already own. That's why many Wii U games haven't been selling in a plethora. But even so, Capcom has declared that...
Very great read. It's good to finally see someone who looks outside the box, since everyone is so caught up in lavishing the (quote) "true" next-gen systems (especially the PS4) - thinking that they're the perfect masterpieces and will immediately take off after launch.
It could happen, but when you look at aspects such has higher price points for console development, game development, console and game retail prices and controller prices - you can't help...
- The Wii U still has 32mb of edRAM which makes up for the RAM speed.
- Wii U owners ARE buying games. It's just that most of them are late ports, some of which are half-baked. But games like MH3 Ultimate and LEGO CITY: Undercover have attracted reasonable attention
@Gamer42
Yes. There was "Sonic & the Secret Rings" and "Sonic & the Black Knight" - both of which were exclusive to the Wii.
Well to be fair. . .
- The Wii got the inferior version of Sonic Unleashed.
- Sonic CD skipped the Wii.
- Sonic Generations skipped the Wii.
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II skipped the Wii.
- The 3DS got the inferior version of Sonic Generations.
- Pretty much every Wii-exclusive Sonic game sucked, except for the M&S series and Sonic Colors.
Do you really think it is NINTENDO following Sega, or the other way around?
Think of it - Last-gen (7th~gen) - the Wii and DS got a bunch of exclusive Sonic titles, and it didn't seem like it was Nintendo who was the one asking for them. Seems to me like it's Sega who wanted this partnership and Nintendo was smart enough to follow through with it.
1.) It was a launch-title - There were no massive amounts of units out in the wild to generate high sales.
2.) It was a port - And was available on older, more established systems. Of course they'd generate more heat than the completely new system.
3.) It had missing functionality - Seeing that the development team only had such a short time to work with it.
. . . So, EA, tell me. Were you expecting truck loads of sale to magically pump in?...
No seriously . . . This is a troll, right?
Wait, you're telling me he's an actual guy at EA?
No . . . No . . . Impossible. No one who works for such a lieing, cheating, malicious, straight~up horrible company would try to tarnish their (and the company's) image even more by going in an all out immature, unnecessary rage-quest. No, no, humanity isn't that stupid and arrogant. No, no, no impossible . . . right, right?
I've n...
Not ALL of em', son. What ~ not (even though that isn't confirmed) - having GTA:V will kill it? It's still getting games like Batman Arkham Origins, AC4 and Watch_Dogs - just to name a few.
Does it NEED EA?
Technically - No.
BUT
Will having the many assets that EA has under their belt be worthwile?
Yes.
EA may be hated by many - but you still can't deny that these guys are the major content holders, when it comes down to third-party titles. They own a thousand and one studios, which develop some of the most best-selling and well known franchises. Need for Speed, Burnout, EA Sports, Crysis, Mass Effect, Dead S...
Nintendo DS ~ Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL.
Gameboy ~ Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Micro.
Nintendo Entertainment System ~ Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
. . . This isn't the first time that Nintendo has recycled a name and added in a little tidbit. The Wii U:
- Doesn't look like the Wii.
- Has BLUE game cases instead of white.
- Features a totally ...
Wow, this game actually looks pretty sweet. Graphics are spectacular! Can't wait to see what the Wii U version looks like.
@oof46 ~ Not EVERYONE who bought a Wii U bought it just for Nintendo's first party titles. That kind of stereotyping is baseless.
Well I would hope they don't. If the PS4 causes Sony's gaming division anymore losses, they might have to shut down. PS4 looks to be like an awesome system - Just hope the price point is reasonable enough.
Wow, I see many people here saying "Wait 'till E3" - yet had this been a Wii U article, it would have been "Let it die!"
Interesting.
On-Topic: Seeing that Sony was pretty enthusiastic about having PS Vita and PS4 as a solid couple, I'd doubt they'd give up on it that easily. But then again, they are doing bad financially, so if they have a product that isn't turning a profit - they may very well do it. Will be keeping an e...
I didn't realize how much devs Nintendo was cool with until I read this article. Lengthy, but the author makes his point very clear.
Up until recent times, I never really had a problem with EA. I never thought ill of them at all, probably because I never really looked into them that much. NOW, with this whole fiasco, it really has me irritated. They're acting like a petty preschooler here, and making up lies and cover-ups isn't doing ANYTHING to change their curre...
I had to re-read that article, just to make sure I didn't accidentally skip any parts.
Seriously, the thing is like as long as an average comment. It's like you're everyday average troll just woke up from his nap and decided to grouch over the Wii U's pains in the most laughable way possible. Gaming journalism everybody - GIVE EM A HANDCLAP!
Seriously, the points he listed were so off-base. He didn't even bother to explain other than just ...
Which is exactly why the Wii ~ which mind you, as MUCH less powerful than it's competition, than the Wii U is with the 720 & PS4, failed right?
Oh yeah . . . that's right.
Let me put it this way, good sir. Nintendo has bucks. Even if the Wii U DOES flop (it's too early to say it has - because if that's the case, 3DS and PS3 shouldn't be where they are now) - Nintendo has enough money to go through at least 2 or 3 more home console flop...
Like someone else said on a blog on this site - People just love to to get their opinions validated by someone *special*.
Let's be real - Everyone loves it when they're "right", even if they're wrong. Even if they only think they're right ~ but their opinion holds litle to no water at all - they still love it when they see people are in agreement with them. Nintendo haters felt good when Summerwill made those comments, because he's someone right ...
