And the joke is where . . . . .?
It's a shame, but this year has been really empty for the system. Everything was pushed at the beginning of the year; Twilight Princess HD, Pokken Tournament and Star Fox Zero all came out one after the other. There's been NOTHING since then, so it's only natural that sales would slow. Splatoon has somehow managed to keep pushing hardware in Japan, so there's that, but for the most part it's been quiet.
As someone who's owned the system since the beg...
Nintendo was doing their own thing even before the Wii, just saying.
I repeat, I do not believe that playing a violent video game turns people into criminals and killers. Someone has to be mentally unstable in the first place in order for that to happen. All I am saying is that violent games do turn otherwise vile acts into forms of thrill and entertainment.
"You are what you eat". If someone consumes large quantities of junk food, there's a good chance that person is going to gain weight and a whole laundry list of medical is...
Violent video games don't CREATE violent people, but it does fuel the desire and desensitizes players to the cruel acts that they're committing.
I'm not saying that playing GTA is going to turn you into a cold-hearted criminal, but it does turn otherwise vile acts into a form of entertainment and thrill. And yes, it can fuel aggression since violent video games put a lot of stress on the player and fuel them to make dangerous and violent decisions.
Not in the least.
There are MANY gamers who prefer consoles over PCs and vice-versa. Consoles will ALWAYS have a place, because PCs are a whole different breed.
Some people feel that PC gaming is too expensive and/or too complicated. They prefer the simplicity of a console; buy the box, plug it in and then go to town. As long as that simplicity exists then consoles, regardless of who's manufacturing them, will continue to sell.

So because they're trying new things that equals "desperation"? Wow, talk about negativity.
Regardless of their motivation, it's obviously working out. That's the most important thing. They didn't exactly HAVE to, either. Prior to this, they still had billions in the bank. Just saying.
I really dig wood designs, though I'm not quite sure why. I just like it.
I'm getting my new Lenovo Y700 in a few days, already eyeing a Cherry Wood decal...
It's definitely a gray area for any journalist or YouTuber. You don't want to bite the hand that feeds you, but neither do you want to disillusion the public. It's a very fine rope to walk on and all too often it feels like you're going to fall off. I hope the majority of gamers understand that. True, there ARE some wayward personalities out there, but that doesn't speak for all gaming media.
Well pardon me.
The basis for the article was all of the changes that Mr. Kimishima has already made in his short tenure as CEO. I understand that the baton was basically passed to him due to the timing of Iwata's passing, but Mr. Kimishima has done a lot on his own accord. That's why I wrote this article.
Wow, I was thinking the cartoonish artstyle would have helped bring this down to at least an E10+, but certainly not a T. There doesn't even appear to be any blood. Nonetheless, the game can still be played without engaging in any combat so it's no big deal.
I began the article talking about how developers spoke positively about the Wii U, and what happened shortly afterwards.
The whole basis of this piece was to talk about how, given Nintendo's current situation, big developers are still quite positive about the NX. Even though the system hasn't been released yet and there's almost no momentum behind it, these studios are interested in it.
"Halfbaked, factless articles". Care to name some examples of this claim?
I did not position the 3DS as a failure. I didn't even use that word in the article. It HAS sold a lot less than the DS, though. There's a "fact" for you.
@Reply:
The DS is the second highest-selling system of all time, nobody was disputing that. However, the PS4 is currently on track to surpass the PS2 in a few years. Think about that...
If anything, I want it to be optional. I haven't had problem with any of the special features with Nintendo's last few systems; it helps them stand apart from the other systems (who are practically fraternal twins).
Nevertheless, I understand that some people just want a "normal system". Frankly, that's boring, but whatever. Hopefully, whatever the special idea behind the NX is, it's going to be either so great that most folks will be excited, or s...
Overly-pessimistic article is overly-pessimistic.
The existence of the system was confirmed last year, and they announced its release earlier this year. They're definitely stalling the reveal, but unless it's like SEGA who released the Saturn the same day it was announced, then it won't be another doomsday.
Everyone expresses their opinions in a unique way, even if the topic is the same.
The creator of the motion technology behind the Wii had approached Sony and Microsoft before Nintendo, and both of those companies rejected it.

The thing about games is, they're interactive. Instead of watching a gunman on TV, you ARE the gunman. YOU aim down the sights, YOU pull the trigger. It's definitely not anything like shooting in real life, but it does instill thoughts into the mind of a player.
Definitely, a person needs to be mentally unstable to actually try and imitate the gruesome things they perform in video games, but think about it like this; don't kids like to pretend they're just l...
Nobody was bragging, and it's definitely not me who's being salty.
I simply gave examples of exactly what Miyamoto was talking about. You're trying to penalize me for stating facts? M'kay.
No, that's not how it went down.
Nintendo didn't want a repeat of what Atari did; that company allowed developers to do whatever they wanted, so the industry was flooded with terrible games that were being released consistently. When Nintendo SAVED the business, they put stipulations on developers, only allowing those teams to release a limited number of games at a time AND Nintendo had to certify those games in order for them to be released on its platforms. If a g...
