Wondering where the time went

Exactly. I can't use Kinect, but that doesn't mean it's a poor piece of tech. It just means that Move is the option for me, if I decide to try either device.

Neither is 'better.' It depends on the individual.

Great results for MS and Sony.

I couldn't play the first "Mass Effect," since I don't own a 360. I can't wait to pick up the sequel for the PS3.

The familiar is more of a sure thing in any form of entertainment. Hollywood pumps out sequels and remakes/reboots/reimaginings for precisely that reason.

This is why the sales argument is moot when discussing a game's quality and why discussion about the need for innovation and new IPs in gaming has to be tempered by economic realities.

Some people look for fodder for their 'fanboy cannons' from the strangest places. It makes no sense to regard the PS3 as inferior because it updates. If anything, that's a plus.

It's easy to use, yes, but it's definitely not "anybody can play."

Plenty of people on this site are rooting for the hacker. I believe in intellectual property rights, though, so I'm hoping he gets his arse handed to him on a silver platter.

I can't wait to pick up 'Mass Effect 2.' I've heard great things about the series, and I'm glad to have my chance to play it. I'll pick up 'LBP 2' later on, once the community has had a chance to make some levels.

Common sense like this doesn't have much of a place on N4G, sadly. Here's a bubble.

Of course he did something wrong. He owned the physical console, yes, but he didn't own the rights to the root keys. Those keys are the property of Sony, and no consumer owns them. Purchase of the physical console merely gives you the license for the software.

Had he kept it to himself, he could have tinkered with the software in the privacy of his own home for his own purposes. The moment he revealed that information to someone else, that's where the problem lies. ...

Agreed. I'm interested in seeing how DCUO fares on the PS3 - kind of a 'test case' for console MMOs, I guess.

There's a difference, though, between doing what you want to something you own and making content available to others. You own the hardware, not the software required to run it. Purchasing the console gives you a 'license' for that software. Not ownership rights over it.

If I buy a DVD or a video game, I own the disk the content is on but I don't own the content itself. The content still belongs to its copyright holders. Same with books or whatever.

Exactly. This entitlement crap has to stop. If you want it, buy it. If you can't afford games, get a new, cheaper hobby. It's not that hard to figure out.

Theft is theft.

Bubbles to you for commenting on the broader issue.

I won't give up hope for a Western release yet, especially if the game's a hit in Japan.

5510d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'll be getting the disk version. HDD space isn't a problem, but my 60 GB/month bandwidth cap is.

5511d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Some people take the console 'war' way too seriously.

5511d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yes, because I'm only interested in a couple of 360 exclusives. I'm not going to waste money buying a system that, at this point, doesn't suit my needs. Maybe if they do something with Kinect that I can actually use, then I'll buy one.

Until then, the Wii and PS3 provide me with the best gaming value for my money.

It's not that complicated. The 360 isn't the best console choice for everyone. Obviously.

What's also funny are the fanboys delighting in this. In fact, the smug, self-satisfied fanboys are even funnier; it's as if they scored some kind of victory.
