All companies are "money grabbers" though. they're in it for profits, and there's nothing wrong with that. They're businesses. Customer service is an important part of that. Companies want to keep their customers happy to make sure those customers keep buying their products.
+Bubbles to you.
Both franchises are great, and both have done a lot to popularize the racing genre. I'm sure many fans of racing games own both a PS3 and a 360, so they can play both series.
Your point about exclusives is very valid. Exclusives drive system sales. Showing solid 3rd-party titles is great, but when those titles are available on other consoles, it dilutes the sales-pitch appeal.
I won't buy a 360 to play a game I can play on the PS3. Exclusive DLC isn't worth spending hundreds of extra dollars on. That's why I always watch MS' conference. I like to see what they have planned to see whether or not a 360 would make a good investment ...
It seems like PC gaming will be the refuge for those of us who enjoy 'inaccessible' titles.
I'm worried that the push for accessibility will make it less appealing to those of us who are 'hardcore' RPG fans.
And yet, some pro-360 posters on this site whine about how they're the victims of the evil pro-PS3 crowd. You should send this post to them, Meerkat, so they can stop playing the martyr card.
Let me explain something to you that you might have missed. People who only own PS3s will only play GT5. People who own both consoles and are fans of racing games will play both. People who only own 360s will only play Forza.
Thus, crowing about Forza 4 will acc...
@Dalibor: I lurked on N4G for several years before I decided to make an account, so I remember the whole 'exclusives v. multiplats' debacle when the PS3 first launched. The old 'PS3 haz no gamez!' rant, even though multi-plats were available on the console.
Now some people are crying foul and playing the victim card because the same stupid argument is being used against the 360. It shows that sometimes what goes around truly does come around.
With no 'megaton' announcements at either press conference, no company won. All 3 had their high points and low points. In the end, the 'victor' is whatever company provided you with what you wanted to see most.
Sony edged out Nintendo and 'won' my interest, simply because I don't own a 3DS and Wii-U isn't coming out before next year.
@Aarix: What's with the victimization complex? MS fanboys dished it out for years. Now it's come back to bite them in the ass.
The solution is simple: don't mock other console fans about their console of choice. You never know when 'your' company will change its strategy and leave you looking foolish.
It's not that multi-plats don't count to the Sony "fanatics." It's the fact that when the PS3 launched, and the only strong titles for it were multi-plats, 360 "fanatics" were arguing that multi-plats didn't count. Now that the tables have turned, those same Sony "fanatics" are bringing up the same false argument.
My living room is small, so the 24" is fine for my space. My Bravia is 26".
The bundle was one of the big surprises of the conference. And it's a great, affordable way for people to get into 3D gaming (or Blu-Ray) if they're so inclined.
Ruin looks great Messing up peoples' lairs sounds like wicked fun. ;)
It's the only game I've seen, besides 'Sorcery,' that has me remotely interested in Move.
Now can we all finally agree that bringing classic games into the HD era is a good thing?
Considering the sorry state that was MS' press conference, I'd say more than one console defence force will need hip waders.
I can't wait to get the PS Vita. The name is fine. After all, we're gaming in a generation where the dominant home console is called 'Wii.'
@turnerdc: exclusivity doesn't matter when it comes to people who already own a 360, but exclusives are important for attracting new buyers.
If you can get the same game on a console you already own, there's less incentive to go out and buy that new console.
Every E3, I look for reasons to buy the consoles I don't already own. MS didn't offer me, as a non-Xbox owner who cannot use the full functionality of Kinect, anything to make me want to spend money on a 360.
It's Nintendo's show to lose right now, in my opinion. I'll be watching Sony's conference of course, but barring any major exclusive reveal or announcement (*cough*FFVII Remake*cough*) I think Nintendo will have the strongest showing.
Wow. That guy deserves props. Congrats to him.
I agree that the 'mainstreaming' of video games has shifted the way we view ourselves, and others, as gamers. My own definitions of 'hardcore' and 'casual' hinge on the amount of time and money people spend on the hobby. The hardcore gamers are the ones who will buy consoles at launch, dropping hundreds of dollars on the new platforms, and who will spend hours playing games. Casual gamers spend less on the hobby and spend less time gaming.
Does that ...
