ah yes! classic micro machines! so good.
I agree with you on the Twisted Metal tv series. Had an absolute blast with the show!
did you really say that this game looks...unique?
Burnout, San Francisco: RUSH, Extreme-G, Split Second, Full Auto, Hydro Thunder/Wave Race, BLUR, Modnation: Racers, Motorstorm, FUEL NFS: Underground 1 and 2, Midnight Club 3: DUB edition....
There was a time when the term "racing" was just the concept of getting to a finish line, and didn't automatically mean it HAD to be a rally/track game.
Diddy Kong Racing had flying sections, Hydro Thunder was water racing, BLUR and Full Auto had weap...
Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are massive caveats.
TV shows like Venture Bros, Ren and Stimpy, and Aqua Team wouldn't/couldn't be made today. Hell, Ren and Stimpy was a *children's* show, same thing with Rocko's Modern Life.
It's not for some arbitrary reason, either. It's branding and IP alignment. Companies are far more risk-averse than they were when I was kid in the 90's. Of course, you have companies c...
I can almost feel their utter contempt for their own customers. I assume that their catering to the lowest common denominator, and when that ceases to net them sales, they adjust their strategy to be *slightly* more palatable.
@Thorstein
I don't think it's all that clickbaity, or if it is, it's rather mild. A clickbait headline would be more like "Playstation = DOOMED *shocked emoji*"
I think the gaming industry as a whole is in such a strange place right now. Sony seems to be doing better than Microsoft right now, and Nintendo is absolutely coasting along under the radar.
This generation has been an absolute wash for me, or perhaps I...
The only thing that I can think for the logic of releasing a "combat trailer" is to perhaps improve a criticism of the PS2 original. Combat was not that great. I hold SH2 in my personal top 10 games, but there are areas that could be fixed up.
Unfortunately....It doesn't look like Bloober has improved the combat either? like, it's not a step forward or a step back, but a super awkward step to one side.
But who knows. Silent Hill deserves some da...
I mean...Are they wrong, though?
I've played a bunch of Bloober games: Layers of Fear 1 and 2, Observer, The Medium and Blair Witch.
Observer is probably my favorite of their games, but everything else is shockingly average if not mediocre. The first Layers of Fear had immense potential to be something special. It had that PT vibe, but unfortunately, was seemingly written by the same type of moody middle-schooler who presses far too hard on their paper to write...
I know studios can outsource visuals and what-not and writer's rooms have been a thing in movies/tv for ages, but I never knew there were game-centric 3rd party studios that provide narrative/writing services for other clients. Interesting.
seriously! But then again, I can't believe people pre-ordered this game (to get early access) only to be shocked that there are problems. Early previews everywhere made this out to be incredibly rough around the edges.
perhaps one of the worst takes I've seen on this site.
Have you played Escape from Butcher Bay? the director of this game directed that game. That was a pitch-perfect blend of (primarily) first person with occasional third person sections for climbing and what-not.
All this video does it make me want a new Wipeout.
Bring back the "wacky" types of racing games -- Split/Second, BLUR, Full Auto, Extreme-G.
Hell, imagine what a Hydro Thunder game would look like with how good we've gotten with water simulation.
They almost make EA look better by comparison. Almost.
I'm surprised they didn't try to reform and do the whole kickstarter thing like other former Rare devs did with Playtonic, but with shooters instead of mascot platformers.
I can't wait for people to move on from that vernacular.
I don't get this whole debacle. On one hand, a few of the devs are upset with Judge because (in their minds) you cannot make fun of a game when the team endured crunch and/or layoffs.
The right answer? We can, and he did. It's a joke. You'd think that with the technology barrier between our bodies and screens that any perceived "threats" (apparently including a joke that had a simple punchline and was delivered with a chuckle, in a half-joking fashion) couldn...
I initially read that last line as "For all players and streamers"...
This is so utterly confusing to me. They absolutely flourished under Microsoft. Sony seems to handle their umbrella of studios far better than Micrsoft (especially today) I don't get why they are so concerned about being "taken over". Having autonomy is great, but if Double Fine isn't freaking out after being bought by Microsoft, neither should Bungie with Sony. Unless Sony higherups plan to force Bungie to make Halo Pachinko machines.
Bungie must know so...
Good news: you can!
