" before Xbox consoles left me first. "
It's not going to be long before Microsoft turns into a (slightly) more competent Sega as goes full publisher mode.
But right now, they seem hellbent on replicating all of Embracer's mistakes.

I was a massive xbox fanboy back in the day (the first xbox with experiencing xbox live the first time was one of the coolest things ever, all on my finicky Linksys WRT54G router) and X360 had a wonderful dash...

fantastic game. Criminally underrated. Yes, the combat was overly simple. But the sound design, world design, characters and lore were absolutely top-notch.

a SOCOM-esque shooter where you rage war against sentient furniture? COUNT ME IN.

My 360 red ringed, so I took it apart, and fashioned a better heat ventilation duct using an Apple Jacks cereal box. I didn't have any other issues beyond that. I absolutely adored my 360. Having owned an ps2/xbox/gamecube before that and a n64/ps1 before that, the 360 still was one of my favorite experiences with a console.

I loved the xbox live arcade. I loved that with 100 bucks, you could get your own game on their platform through their XNA game dev pipeline. I lo...

Boy did I want to love Infinite. But It felt like the game was almost trying to make me hate it. I remember the last third of the game basically turning into a combination of obnoxious escort mission/time crisis.
interesting setting, and the world at times felt compelling to investigate, but all thrown to the wind with constant battles and rounds and rounds of spawn closeted enemies that became more and more grating as you kept playing.

Bioshock 2 was a genuine s...

definitely a generational divide. I'm 33 and this generation is absolutely horrible in my opinion. Growing up with a PS1 and PS2 definitely spoiled me.

ah yes, the classic "too big to fail" mentality. That served us well in the past.
This article is not all doom and gloom.
I highly suggest you read it before posting a comment here based on the headline alone.

So, how do you like working at EA?

@Asplundh,Victor isn't wrong, though.
5 million *is* a great number. But it took awhile to get there...And it was on PS4,XB1,PS5,XBX,PC and Switch. Movies and music will often gauge the commercial success of their respective products by "first week" sales and usually the first two weeks of a theatrical run. Shawshank Redemption, widely considered one of the best movies of all time earned only 16 million during it's theatrical run, against a 25 million dollar budget...

I can honestly imagine you hammering away that last "n" of his name on your keyboard and laughing hysterically to yourself.
Grow up.

I agree with you on the Twisted Metal tv series. Had an absolute blast with the show!

Burnout, San Francisco: RUSH, Extreme-G, Split Second, Full Auto, Hydro Thunder/Wave Race, BLUR, Modnation: Racers, Motorstorm, FUEL NFS: Underground 1 and 2, Midnight Club 3: DUB edition....

There was a time when the term "racing" was just the concept of getting to a finish line, and didn't automatically mean it HAD to be a rally/track game.

Diddy Kong Racing had flying sections, Hydro Thunder was water racing, BLUR and Full Auto had weap...

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are massive caveats.
TV shows like Venture Bros, Ren and Stimpy, and Aqua Team wouldn't/couldn't be made today. Hell, Ren and Stimpy was a *children's* show, same thing with Rocko's Modern Life.

It's not for some arbitrary reason, either. It's branding and IP alignment. Companies are far more risk-averse than they were when I was kid in the 90's. Of course, you have companies c...

I can almost feel their utter contempt for their own customers. I assume that their catering to the lowest common denominator, and when that ceases to net them sales, they adjust their strategy to be *slightly* more palatable.

@Thorstein

I don't think it's all that clickbaity, or if it is, it's rather mild. A clickbait headline would be more like "Playstation = DOOMED *shocked emoji*"

I think the gaming industry as a whole is in such a strange place right now. Sony seems to be doing better than Microsoft right now, and Nintendo is absolutely coasting along under the radar.

This generation has been an absolute wash for me, or perhaps I...

The only thing that I can think for the logic of releasing a "combat trailer" is to perhaps improve a criticism of the PS2 original. Combat was not that great. I hold SH2 in my personal top 10 games, but there are areas that could be fixed up.
Unfortunately....It doesn't look like Bloober has improved the combat either? like, it's not a step forward or a step back, but a super awkward step to one side.

But who knows. Silent Hill deserves some da...

I mean...Are they wrong, though?

I've played a bunch of Bloober games: Layers of Fear 1 and 2, Observer, The Medium and Blair Witch.
Observer is probably my favorite of their games, but everything else is shockingly average if not mediocre. The first Layers of Fear had immense potential to be something special. It had that PT vibe, but unfortunately, was seemingly written by the same type of moody middle-schooler who presses far too hard on their paper to write...
