If there's one complaint I had about the first one, it's that it was WAY too short. That and the voice work was pretty sketchy.
This however, sounds like it'll rectify those problems. Still though, it seems almost TOO big in comparison to the first game. To the extent that'll be absolutely nothing like the original. I'm sure it'll be a good game but...
These games always sort of leak. It's definitely wilful on the part of publishers and whatnot though. It's a good way to conjure hype by making us feel like we're in on some top secret brand new development. However, as usual, it'll just be a CoD game again.
Some Vita support would be great. Not IOs ports or measly games that may as well be IOs ports. And also none of that Wii U-esque game connectivity. I don't care about using my Vita as a map. Just get some great games on it.
Zero Escape 3, Time Travellers, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy Type-0 Port, Steins; Gate, maybe even Shin Megami Tensei IV?
I never said ALL games are shallow. Of course there are exceptions. The same applies to films. MOST films that do well in the box office are just as empty-headed as most AAA games.
My point is that, having had MUCH more time to develop as a medium and to develop within itself subcultures and expermintation, film and literature has thus produced far more enduring and deep works than games have. Games don't even come close.
Perhaps the Indie scene represent...
You often see pictures of dev teams with like one to two women in them. I think if more women participated in game development, games wouldn't be as sexist. They'd be much more equal and symmetrical in their representation of gender.
That is, providing those women themselves aren't brainwashed by the power relations and institutions of a patriarchal society, and are instead fairly critical.
She's just encouraging women to enter the games industry, not forcing them.
For all we know, there could be many women who want to enter the industry, but are intimidated by it.
Haunted Maze is still one of the funniest games I've ever played.
This all sounds pretty cool. Very unconventional. I hope it turns out good, though there's a slight possibility that this gameplay could be a trainwreck. Fingers crossed.
Yeah but it's the fact that they're used as reward and made seem so "cool". There's nothing cool about guns particularly when they're being used to kill.
And what exactly is wrong with wanting games to be less like CoD? The series is a cultural plague.
The whole him getting worshipped thing was just stupid. Just this white American jock having a bunch of ethnic people bowing down before him. Bit weird.
Ah, I've just never felt comfortable hunting animals in games.
I too love R&C, but that's a cartoon universe and it's wacky as hell. To me, it's just weird when it's in a more "real" context. I'm just assembling weapons to murder a bunch of people.
Alice in Wonderland quotes preface each chapter in the game I think.
Ah, it's not a bad game, I just think it's a wee bit overrated. The Farcry series...
Yeah that's so true. It's the minimaps, and the icons, and the constant "new quest unlocked!" type messages and all that crap. Sick of that stuff.
A few things.
First of all, I don't want to play as an entitled American jock with his dumb friends and "cool" military brother again. The game just felt like a power fantasy for jocks who play CoD.
Secondly, make it a sci-fi like the original game, and retain the open world.
Thirdly, if you have to include animals, make it optional and not imperative to kill / hunt them. I'm tired of Ubisoft games forcing me to kill animals...
I don't care what anyone says about it. I genuinely loved nearly everything about this game, graphics, controls and all.
A lot of the older games on that list are like totally superior to most of the games that come out today.
Still, strange list in places. No Chrono Cross? No Vagrant Story? No Persona 2 or 3? No Kingdom Hearts? (Although personally, while I like KH, it's far from being stronger than most of the rpgs on that list), no Ni No Kuni? No Dark Cloud? No Rogue Galaxy? No Dragon Quest VIII? No Shadow Hearts?
I agree, but let it also be known that feminism does not necessarily equal craziness and "female supremacy".
In most cases, at least in the canon of feminist studies, equality IS sought after. This is done so by disturbing ideologically charged assumptions about reality and about gender, only to make us realise that everything we think we know about gender is socially and culturally constructed. That there's nothing essential (in the sense of essence) about any ...
Anthotis: When I read stuff like your post I just think all people like you should just live on another planet. I sincerely hope this is parody or you my friend are utterly, utterly clueless. Like the epitome of clueless.
"Looking at the countless other media apparently it's a perfectly acceptable to exploit a characters sexual appeal or physique to make a product/character more appealing."
That's just not true. Stop playing the victim. Cultural studies, film studies, literary criticism, and many other fields have been tackling these issues in their chosen mediums for decades.
Gaming as a medium isn't even nearly as mature as literature and film, and it...
Those who agree that sexism is an issue in games already know it "exists". The "existence" question is running and running because one side won't accept it. They approach the subject with chimerical constructions and preconceptions about what sexism is and what feminism is. They have their own little spoonfed internal logic that bears no relation to reality.
It's the gaming majority that can't move on because of toxic assumptions about these su...
Yeah, we're already seeing the effects of this with how toxic and confrontational multiplayer communities are becoming. The competitiveness within videogames has been introduced to money in a world wherein money has come to rule everything.
League of Legends and Starcraft are at the forefront of this. It's just despicable.
