Plus, the amount of permutations within a game is much more limited than an actual sport in reality. There's only so many things that can happen in a multiplayer game, and those parameters are very small compared to real causality. While there's only so many things that can happen in an actual sport too, in most cases those potentialities are of an astronomically greater number than those within a game.
Totally, games these days could learn a lot from DP in terms of storytelling, character and world building, and immersion, and what's more, DP does all this in it's own videogamey sort of way, which is also important if videogames want to retain their own identity and not just become barely interactive CG films.
That said it does owe a lot to Twin Peaks, which everyone should watch preferably before they play DP, but if not, watch it anyway.
they should resurrect Fortress, but they shouldn't let it become too icky and "western".
It's not "so bad it's good". It's genuinely good. People are just too spoiled and brainwashed by all this triple-A bullcrap that they won't conceive of games being any other possible way than shallow, lowest common denominator triple-A graphics-fests.
The atmosphere, the sense of life in the open world, the great characters, voice work, and dialogue, the story, and the overall aesthetic of the world ("dated" I suppose, but an acquired taste...
Well I presume it's part of the 2GB or ram for the OS and all that stuff, so yeah, it seems unlikely that'll impact on gameplay. All the same, it could still impact on switching form the game to the new XMB thing, as well as the XMB itself (whatever it's called).
Also why do you WANT it on? I'm never going to make use of that feature, so I may as well turn off. Also it's a prime means of data-mining, which involves a breach of privacy which is highly anti-...
nooo valve..... stop releasing Left for Dead games...
I really hope you can turn that off.
In this case, it will neither be beautiful nor done well, because it's being made by the writer of the live action Chun Li film, which is a giant turd.
Actually, could someone start a petition to stop the SotC film from being made? They won't make it if they know it'll be a fail.
Maybe NeoGAF could do something.
Fumito Ueda couldn't possibly let anyone make a Shadow of the Colossus film could he?
The sad thing about that is that dozens of morons would flock to the cinema to watch it without having played the game, and the film would definitely suck.
Lunar Silver Star Story is like perfect for this. I'm hoping to write a blog on it soon.
Not only that, but it has this weird "American" mythological thing going on, sort of akin to Richard Slotkin's study.
I'm worried they'll become too corporate and commercialised if they join Sony, and too diluted if they join Nintendo.
They should just join a big publisher like SquareEnix. I know nobody wants that, but I'm pretty sure SquareEnix wouldn't intervene and would leave Atlus to their own devices, and it'd also help them recoup their losses because Atlus' games have such a huge, if niche, market. It'd be weird though, all three of the big Japanese rpg s...
Why do Persona 5 articles keep using that image? It's not Persona 5, it's like a light novel by Soejima.
Yeah but it would different if Nintendo actually owned them. Nintendo themselves wouldn't market third party titles as much as they would first party, and if they bought Atlus, it's likely Nintendo would market their stuff more aggressively. Because of Nintendo's reputation for more family friendly games, as publishers, they might force Atlus to tone down the more mature content before they agree to market it for them, or even greenlight it in the first place. It's possible.
Well, not that they're the darkest games ever, but it's really just that the designs of the demons and personae can be a little bit racy, and the actual occult themes border on the satanic sometimes. Also there's the occasional dark plot point here and there, particularly in Innocent Sin. I don't know, they're pretty niche games, I wouldn't want Nintendo intervening at all. If they didn't, then I'd be perfectly happy with it.
Persona IS an SMT game ya nub.
I'd only be worried because Nintendo might try and tone down the risque and dark nature of a lot of the stuff in SMT games...
Still, they've left us enough brilliant games to play on our playstations and emulators. If this is what they need to, then so be it. It's better than no Atlus at all. Maybe someday I'll buy a Wii U.
TOTALLY agree with this. I know Polygon have a slightly anti-sony bent, but they're right about this, and I personally thought the Last of Us review made some strong points.
Hey, I mean it's not like it's any different with the Xbox One. This graphics / tech drive, it needs to stop. In no way is it necessarily conducive to making a good, memorable, and unique game. More risks need to be taken, no more triple A games designed to appeal to the lowest common denomina...
Good games. Good music, good character design, good arcade-y animation, and you learn a lot about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in the process (sort of).
Although, I find it's best to buy like every 3rd game, because that's the only way the differences are really noticeable enough to justify buying them for me.
Samurai Warriors is awesome too. Same shit, but I prefer the characters / character design and all the cool weapons. Music's maybe not...
So many people are going to use this article to confirm their bias, but don't forget, her body is still being used to lure male gamers to booths (that's the actual purpose). It's still objectifying - she's being treated as a sex object, and being used to a utilitarian degree for the sake of marketing. A fashionable, current idea of what constitutes the ideal female body is being deployed for the sake of a procedure within a corporate agenda, and it's altogether very cynica...
