Yeah but I think the frequency of rpgs getting released was much greater on the DS. Also the 3DS has been around for like 3 years, which was the same amount of time the ds was available for retail so...

There were 5 times more jrpgs on the DS than the 3DS... Still, the few that have been released on the 3DS so far are pretty good.

Well I'm pretty sure either way they're gonna release an X-3 if that excerpt from the audio drama is anything to go by. Sign me up!

Smacks of entitlement this...

If the game quality sucks to you, just don't buy it. End of. Why do you need to play them? In fact, if you don't buy them and don't support the devs, they might even pull their socks up for you and make the ports better, but you didn't hear that from me. Really, get your priorities straight. This is not what the idea of the petition was made for.

This was great in Deadly Premonition, but I'm just not sure how fun it'll feel in GTAV. Deadly Premonition's tone and world just kind of supported all that mundane stuff, and made it fun. Unless GTA has as much character as DP had, I don't know, the refueling thing just seems kind of pointless and annoying.

@Sarick: I feel like maybe you ascribe a little bit too much "care" to the idea of consumer loyalty.

"You build it by truly giving a damn about them and figuring out how to make them more success, happy and joyful."

Really? When it boils down to it, this desire to make people happy that you cite is highly conditional. At the center of it is the profit motive. You make them happy in order that you generate profit, it's not making people...

So many gamers are just super-reactionary. They don't consider the arguments being put forward, they just get angry and deploy whatever ingrained opinion they have that they don't like having challenged even if it's just totally wrong. You see it when people just give one word replies like "stupid liberal" or "mangina, white knight etc." and you just know right away that no critical thought has gone into what they're saying at all. It's just a knee-jerk...

I'll be honest it was a reference to the song Won't get Fooled Again by The Who, and the lyric "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". I got it wrong though, I should've said "same as the old controller", not "just like the old controller.

...just like the old controller.

People seem to overlook the fact that this game is shorter than A Crack in Time, which was shorter than Tools of Destruction. I'm sure it'll be fun, but I'm definitely skeptical. It's hard to see Insomniac the same way after their publishing deals with both EA and Microsoft, and the generic shooter that resulted, as well as the Zane-brain MTV generation hyper-stylized crock that is Sunset Overdrive (such a pointless game). Not to mention the obligatory sub-par Ratchet games th...

I don't know... it's meant to be really short in comparison to the previous major games. Bit worried it might suck. After Insomaniac's recent behaviour with fuse and Sunset Overdrive as an X1 exclusive BEFORE they planned to rescind the DRM crap, not to mention the whole EA thing. Idk. This mightn't be what everyone's looking for.

"expect an extremely pretentious experience."

Now, if you had said that with regards to Irrational, I'd have agreed. thechineseroom on the other hand are actually really well read guys (well Dan Pinchbeck in particular) and are academics. Probably on par with Jonathan Blow in terms of their intellect. In other words, they actually know what they're doing.

Owes a LOT to Ico and Wind Waker by the looks of things, but it could be pretty good. Sort of irritating how similar it is to those games though.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is by far the game I'm most hyped for from this presentation. The Witness didn't show but I'm super excited for that too.

Now THIS I'm excited about. Amnesia 2, The Witness, and this have been on my radar for a while now, they're going to be incredible.

(EDIT: Sorry, this was an afterthought and I couldn't edit it in in time.)

Also worth noting is that Indie developers who buy into Sony's initiatives become assimilated into Sony's industry. They too become driven by the profit motive by virtue of all the enticing benefits and initiatives. In other words, money-based support lures them over. They sort of betray their "Indie"-ness.

The way I see it, Sony shouldn't have such a monopoly...

Strooong sense that Sony is co-opting Indies here. Enticing them with loads of benefits and initiatives, but only really focusing on them because they're insurance against creative stagnation.

In other words, they're using and employing Indies to trailblaze for new ideas which Sony can then snatch up and absolutely milk for profit. If fps' and such start getting stale (already have) Sony can be insured against their industry going bankrupt by getting Indies to com...

I hope it's not called that. Tired of this sequel syndrome and franchising. It's so cynical and unimaginative.

Consumers need to stop being so dumb that they need a 2 on the end to mean they'll buy something. So lazy. Game titles aren't really important ultimately, but they are when it comes to consumer laziness and conservativism. The game should be called something completely different. It's probably the only complaint I have against Final Fantasy. Also ...
