The Last of Us was one of my favourite games of the last generation, hands-down, but I'm still in two minds about The Last of Us 2. How can you follow up something so impactful first time around because of its novel, hard-hitting tale of survival and companionship? On the flip side, I guess if anyone can do it, it would be Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog!
It's still 10% of a shed load for doing very little, and a raising in their profile. It's about more than the raw revenue.
Scumbag prima-donnas throwing morals under a bus to make more money. Rife in our society.
Agreed. It's not a be all and end all, but it's certainly a bonus and a selling point.
Sure the spectacle is important in many AAA games these days, but...Bloodborne would like to have a word. Upcoming titles like Nioh and Horizon also look bang on in terms of gameplay.
Nintendo definitely seem to have struck gold. The share increase was remarkable! Seems there's life in the old phenomenon yet!
I can't see it matching The Witcher 3 for narrative excellence. Horizon looks to be all about the mechanical monsters...and that's cool with me!
Well the Toyota Celica was my first car back in GT3. It was a real beauty. When I realised that it just no longer had the pace to compete in tougher events I went into 3 days of mourning.
Does that answer your question?
It should be an emotional rollercoaster for sure. I'm a bit worried that my heart strings will be tugged so hard though that it'll make the beginning sequence of Up! feel like The Blues Brother in comparison.
Likewise, loved Amalur for the super slick combat alone. The story was instantly forgettable though.
Agree that it was good to see a more fully realised Nathan Drake, but I'd expect Adam Jensen to stomp all over these with spiked augmented legs when Mankind Divided releases. Cannot wait for that game!
Haha kudos for the pic. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Brucie. Why's he only got one heart, though? Sure he should start with at least twenty?
“The NX’s software output will blow away the Wii U’s software output” - That's like saying Resident Evil 7 will blow away Umbrella Corps. It damn well better do!
I actually quite enjoyed seeing loads of Breath of the Wild, although I watched the videos afterwards to avoid the filler. That said, can't help but think that not showing more of the NX (like, I dunno, it's name!?) at E3, when the eyes of the gaming world are on you, was a big boo-boo.
With all due respect I really hope that you're way out. The 3-4 towns with ones for each race served us well for the N64 TLoZ games but that won't fly in such a huge open world. As the article says I hope for a few big towns and a dozen or so smaller ones, even if some are just hamlets.
Agree that Nintendo will need more than a critically-acclaimed Legend of Zelda game to sort themselves out, but it should be a start! They really need to pull it out of the hat with the NX, with powerful hardware and third-party support, and a stellar first-party lineup on top, to attract those who aren't hardcore Ninty fans!
For me it has to be populated with lots of the whimsical NPCs that the series is so good at, ideally with more depth than they have done previously. I was so glad when Nintendo reassured us that the world will be more heavily populated, and that the towns and most NPCs had been removed from the demo.
Maybe it's just me but I found Days Gone a bit of a disappointment. I'm sure the incredible showings before that in Sony's conference had something to do it with, but it feels a bit derivative at the moment, and the bike mechanics were laughably bad. The runners didn't seem to know what to do when they got near the player character, either. Early days, I know, but E3 is often all about first impressions.
Haha yeh I bet you would Nolan. So would I!
I don't think we'll see another Uncharted for a while, though. Naughty Dog will focus on other things, now, and they're notoriously steady.
Review scores sadly matter to developers and publishers, as often a game's success is judged as much by its Metacritic score as by its sales. I don't get why ONE garbage low Uncharted 4 review should bother anybody, though, apart from to highlight the stupidity of Metacritic...
Hardly a surprising endorsement, but good to hear Ubi at least making the right noises about the NX.
