Absolutely makes sense that an indie dev is picking this up, since SEGA don't see to have the foggiest idea what do with the hedgehog these days. Not sure if merely tweaking the level design and updating some features will be enough to make it stand out, though.
Been playing Breath of the Wild for 45 hours now and the sheer scale of it still takes my breath away. It's truly vast, and a pleasure to explore. Nothing short of a spectacular evolution for the franchise. Great review - agree with the minor gripes, too. The voice acting is eurgh.
I remember getting such glee from burning enemy soldiers with the flamethrower in Army Men: Sarge's Heroes. Man I was a bastard when gaming even then :)
Oh Clueless Bob. You tried. You really tried.
Think the console itself will be a monster, but without a stellar exclusive lineup to rival the PS4's, I can't see it mattering. Sony are just too damn strong at the moment.
Good article. Interesting to read about the PS4 and Xbox One's shifting fortunes. Lol at the X1 release being 'a bit of a blunderous affair'. That's an understatement and a half!
What a horrible thought *shudder* It better be all about the single player. Mind you GTAV itself is as a standalone entity.
The augment your preorder crap was a disaster for MD. So ill-advised. Gave it a handicap before it had even started.
I'm so utterly sick of the Call of Duty series, but the impact its had on first person shooters is undeniable. Same for the GTA series for open-world games. So many fond memories of GTA3 on the PS2...
I too have some fond memories of time playing Nintendo Land and lots, and lots of Mario Kart 8. As the article says, though, the Wii U's biggest crimes were abysmal marketing and an inexcusable failure to capitalise on an interesting premise. Good read.
I'd give you a medal for those choices. Anybody putting the almighty Timesplitters 2 near the top of any list gets kudos from me.
"Wii U did its job." That has to be one of the most inaccurate statements in history!
I bought a Wii U primarily for the new Zelda, as at least eight other people did. Possibly nine.
Always enjoy reading interviews with Kojima. Fascinating man with true creative genius. The Death Stranding trailer was superb. It raised so many tantalising questions, and yet you just know that most of the answers are in there, hiding in plain sight.
We need more imaginative tales of companionship like this and less copy and paste open-world titles. Hope TLG sells well enough to warrant a sequel that irons out those gameplay kinks...and doesn't take near a decade to make!
Good, balanced review.
It's hard to argue against Overwatch's mammoth popularity, but from a technical standpoint it had to be Uncharted 4. It excels in every category.
Cool, Cool Mountain is my favourite from this list. If only because of the penguin, and how you can be a complete monster and drop the baby off the edge :D
Wonderfully inaccurate comment. What a load of nonsense. Perhaps try reading the interview; it's an interesting insight into the world of game dev, where I guarantee there's more talent than you could comprehend.
Really enjoyed this. Very entertaining commentary.
Don't worry, the Switch to ensure that handheld gaming won't die....
I'm a PS4 owner, and I hope so. Competition is good for gamers. The console flame wars only serves the Sony and Microsoft.
