They said the game was in "full development" all the way back on Nov. 3, 2011, the day after the first trailer! And here we are 11 months later...
And you speak as if the 360 and PS3 were on common ground. The PlayStation brand dominated last gen. The PS2 outsold the Xbox 6 to 1. For the 360 to even come close to the PS3 in sales, let alone surpass it, is the biggest victory Microsoft could have hoped for. No puny one-year headstart could have been the sole reason for the console's victory. Microsoft tripled Xbox sales with the Xbox 360 while Sony halved PS2 sales with the PS3. The PlayStation brand had so much momentum coming into ...
Watch out guys. Read the fine print - there's a limit of 30,000 Microsoft points that you can earn from this promotion. So if you're getting the 2% discount, once you have spent $18,750 you will no longer receive any rewards back. Just a heads-up!
Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about. Well said!
@DragonKnight
This gen is all but over. Not much can change at this point. And the facts are:
Nintendo quadrupled GameCube sales with the Wii.
Microsoft tripled Xbox sales with the Xbox 360.
and
Sony halved PS2 sales with the PS3
It is very clear who the winners and loser of this gen are. Nintendo made a huge comeback while Microsoft solidified themselves as a real competitor in the industry with so much momentum going...
Especially not a new model that is more expensive than the models already on the market. If a 360 owner was interested in a PS3, they would have picked one up in 2009 when the Slim launched with the new low price point of $299.
And this year is definitely seeing the PS3's weakest lineup in a long time, with no blockbuster AAA exclusives at all for the holidays, while the 360 has the behemoth that is Halo 4 and another entry in the highest rated racing series of this gen w...
Wow, look at those terrible hardware sales. PS3 and Wii down almost 60% over last year. Xbox 360 down 27%.
Agreed. GTA IV and Mafia II have the deepest and most satisfying driving controls in any open world game. The cars actually feel like they have weight. It's a much more dynamic experience. Driving feels like an afterthought in games like Saints Row and Just Cause, while it feels like the meat of the experience in GTA IV and Mafia II. I tend to think it is because of budget constraints rather than lack of talent from the developers.
GTA IV is the highest-rated GTA game to date (and the highest rated game of the last decade), so it is definitely considered the best GTA title. There's really no argument to be made against that. As for the soundtrack, VC and SA took place during a certain time period in the past. Rockstar got to look back and choose all the perfect songs that characterized those time periods and brought great nostalgia. Unfortunately, a GTA game set in modern times will never be able to have that same, ...
You're right. It just goes to show how irrelevant Japan is to the Xbox 360's success. Microsoft's console was the number one seller worldwide in 2011 despite virtually no support from Japan whatsoever. You could take the 360's lifetime Japan sales away and it would still be ahead of the PS3 in total hardware sales. It's kind of sad how out of touch they are over there, but what are you gonna do?
Grand Theft Auto IV is, without a doubt, my favorite game this gen. Just the sheer level of detail in Liberty City still blows me away to this day. What an ambitious game. Red Dead Redemption naturally comes second for me because it shares all the same qualities as GTA IV. Such incredible presentation values and polish.
Xbox is the way to go for Mass Effect because your character carries over from the first game, but why would PlayStation necessarily be the way to go for Resident Evil? No data carries over from the previous games. If anything, the Xbox 360 would be the better choice for the timed DLC.
This list is sorely missing Forza Horizon. A beautiful open world game with the details and physics of Forza Motorsport. No doubt it is going to be one of the highest rated games of the year and I can't wait to play it! It hasn't gotten enough publicity yet.
1. Grand Theft Auto V
2. Assassin's Creed III
3. Forza Horizon
4. South Park: The Stick of Truth
5. BioShock Infinite
6. Gears of War: Judgment
7. Tomb Raider
8. Far Cry 3
9. The Last of Us
10. Resident Evil 6
Those are my 10 most anticipated games, with GTA V taking the lead BY FAR.
Another AAA 360 exclusive. Microsoft is just on a roll this year with Xbox LIVE Arcade - Fez, Trials Evolution, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, Spelunky, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and now Mark of the Ninja. I'm loving it!
It basically seems like Chinatown Wars to me.
Audio and pre-rendered cutscenes are what take up a lot of disc space, not the map. Practically every open world game this gen has shipped on one disc, with worlds much larger than GTA IV's Liberty City. The only exception is L.A. Noire, and the culprit there was the MotionScan facial animation technology. That giant, detailed 1947 L.A. map appeared in its entirety on all three discs. So unless GTA V is using some new, unheard of proprietary tech, Xbox 360 owners need not worry about swap...
Despite console sales being down across the board this year, the Xbox 360 was the best-selling console for the 20th month straight and held almost 50% share of all console hardware sales. Microsoft is just dominating this gen! If they're doing this well already this year, I can't wait to see the kind of numbers they pull off this holiday season, which is when the Xbox always sees its strongest performance and seems to get a larger bump than the other consoles.
This is a known fake. A simple changing of text that anyone with basic photo editing skills could pull off.
Looks like this, Halo 4, and Forza Horizon will be the best-selling exclusives on any console this year!
