indies became a big deal because of us. we don't want to pay more for new games, and we only buy within our comfort zone.
Combine that with the developer side. They don't want to go outside the box for fear of a flop. And with the increased cost of making games but revenue staying the same, the risk/reward is thrown off balance. One miss might sink a whole company. and with so many companies going away (your THQs of the world) the number of and innovation found in AAA tit...
That's pretty much where I'm at. If I enjoy a game, I'll do my best to 100% it. Like witcher 3, I went through the whole thing, every side quest, every contract, every question mark. Then with the Batman titles, I just kinda flew through the story. If I got a trophy, great, if not, I didn't go out of my way to nab it.
I like trophies, they scratch that completionist itch. I just don't have the time to be a completionist when it comes to gaming.
Tell me about it. I've owned my PC for about 6 weeks or so and already have over 100 PC games in my backlog. humble bundle, steam sales, gog, I love them and hate them.
Backlog... God my is huge.
Well over 100 PS3 games, around 40 or 50 360 games, 25 ish PS4 games, 10 or so X1 games, 10 or so Wii U games, 4 wii games and over 100 steam games.
And these aren't even mostly indies. It's titles like gears, BF hardline, killzone, Zelda TP (HA!), Alien isolation, red dead, shadow of the colossus, etc etc.
Sad part is my Gamerscore is like 25,000 and I'm at trophy level 25.
thanks Hoffmann, saved me a click
Who the heck disagrees to people being able to feed their families?
Seriously fanboys, grow up.
It's releasing a year from now. And the criteria they came up with is: "This list includes some of the biggest and most anticipated games set for release in 2017 and 2018." It fits the bill, so I don't really get what you're saying.
Never even knew Mario day was a thing. Now that I see it, it's so obvious MAR10
I feel the same way. The counter point I've heard is that the way the system is now, you can decide if you want to spend more on a game you like.
Bought battlefield and enjoyed it? plop some cash down for the season pass.
Bought Batman and didn't care for it? skip the seson pass and DLCs and you won't be out as much money.
Which I can see this point, but then the issue becomes the pricing for all the expansion passes, dlc, microtransactions and season ...
Lots of other countries already pay more for consoles and games even after conversion. (that's why I like GOG's policy of $1 does not equal 1 euro.) I'd be fine with just raising prices here (US).
This probably won't ever happen, but I'd like to see them go the route of indiebox. They put a steam key on the side of their box incase you want to keep the box and its goodies as a collector's piece.
Or maybe something like what movies do now where they give you a digital version along with the bluray.
Of course the problem becomes how do you stop people from just giving the digital code to Johnny Cheapskate?
Maybe charge $10 or $15 more for a version ...
Kyle was pretty much the only reason I visited that site. But I'll definitely give this new one a shot.
See at least I know those games will come out at some point. The ones I'm more worried about are those smaller projects that may or not make it.
Like on Kickstarter they have Nelo and Mediocre Monster. Awesome looking titles but who knows if they'll see the light of day.
I guess it's not that big a deal as my back log is more than big enough to keep me occupied.
Who approves these kinds of articles? n the popcorn industry has the most to gain...
Some of my happiest moment come from teaching my girls how to play Mario. I love every minute with them, but the earliest memory I can recall in my whole life is my grandmother trying to figure out how to play Zelda 2 so that she could show me. So teaching my youngins' how to play a game holds a special place for me.
Would be awesome if Sony gave them their own studio, but I doubt that's what'll happen. most likely the team will be broken up across their other first party studios.
I think you're referring to the Star wars: the old republic. It was their latest expansion.
I'm confused. I don't like Justin Bieber, so I don't buy or listen to his music. Why are you playing games you don't like?
It's simple, exit out of goat simulator, then delete it. Next boot up a game you enjoy. problem solved.
@nix
yes PS2 days were great, but they did lead to the PS3 launch.
You really need to change your handle. oxymoron
