Wii U is definitely packing a bit more than the current consoles. Not a crap load by any means, but an amount that makes ports very easy, and then a wii bit of extra in the bank. The only port I've seen lacking is batman, and that's because the textures just plain didn't load most of the time.
People on the show floor said after a few minutes of playing it started to look a bit more normal, but not much. UE3 has always had a problem with this, so it's too earl...
Well considering everyone has yet to see a traditional nintendo exclusive on the platform, I wouldn't gauge it's potential on 2D sidescrollers, even if Nintendo has elected to use 720p for now.
Nintendo has amazingly competent development teams, but a lot of their artists are used to creating assets to capitalize on SD resolutions. Expecting both them and their programming teams to deliver instantly on a new platform is a lot to ask.
It's so absurd. Even if they were banned, there'd be a game trading classifieds site launched immediately for regions all over the world that people could check out and trade games directly with others. No middle man.
As a matter of fact... we should hope this happens. Private sales will net you a more fair amount of cash, and straight trades are crazy convenient.
I did notice that the feed provided for a lot of live demos runs noticeably above 30fps if you watch the right broadcast.
Not a big deal if it's a PC demo, but when you're on the Xbox stage it's insulting (looking at you splinter cell).

Love it.
Halo, in my opinion, has always had and will always have the best marketing.
I find Nintendo's strategy puzzling at the least and near full retard at the most.
Nothing has upset me more about this E3 than the realization that Nintendo as a company may be completely incompetent. Studios: A+, Concept: A+, execution thus far: F. I'm a big fan, but they seem like they're really losing touch.
Give me a reason to believe.
according to digital foundry, the wii u is the only one that has anti aliasing. the other two do not. I will agree that arkham city is looking a bit lackluster thus far though. a lot of the character models are pretty good, but some of the textures look incredibly flat.
again, it's being ported by a different studio. writing it off as a bad indication as Ubisoft as a whole seems to have a much better grip on the system. Pitchford has been saying Aliens is easily best look...
You must wait for direct feed footage to compare when it's released. Besides, I'd use something a little more solid than a year old port to gauge graphical fidelity.
AC3 will be a really good game to test this when it's released. It's being developed in conjunction with the other versions, done by the exact same studio.
For a first generation game for the system, we will see how it does. I'm pretty much ignoring anything that's being p...
This rumour is laughable. anyone who saw AC3 knows it's at the very least on par, end of story.
they didn't even talk about nintendo network! wtf!
RROD was more infamous, but you're right.
Nintendo focuses on reliable, (comparatively) affordable hardware. There's no reason I expect that to change.
This is awesome news. If it supports EVERY device, and if it scales well, it means you can get the same game for nearly every platform. Yes, system specs will determine how good it looks (and if the visuals are truly next-gen), but if it is easy to develop for every platform, we will see these games everywhere!
Certain features won't make it in to lower spec devices, but that is hardly a huge deal.
I completely buy this as being true. A subsidized entertainment box could enable them to put better tech inside for a lower entry price (or maybe not, but it's still and option). Marketing it as an entertainment box will put it in more homes, and larger install base means third parties will love it.
Only thing left to mention is that, I like many love Halo games and they are pretty much the only exclusive title MS cares about, but would this rumoured CONSOLE be any differ...
he might as well be. I loved the first fable, but Molyneux is kinect loving has-been.
"How much can you look up and down between the screens?" What is deemed appropriate and fun by developers. It's up to them to choose how to use it. Now, a map isn't the most inspiring use of the pad, but I'd take glancing down for less than one second over pausing the game any day. Can't count how many times I lose my orientation early in a Creed game and have to re...
Moving to an x86 chip seems a bit strange, unless they want you to be able to run any OS on it. That would be a good move if they wanted you to have the option of running PC games, but that seems counterproductive for two reasons:
1) Sony wants to sell you games.
2) Most PC games are transitioning to x64 executables.
I see no benefit of ditching PowerPC for any other reason than that AMD was financially beneficial for an all-in-one solution.

Consoles will never compete with PCs in raw power ever again (if they ever even did). Technology sophistication and price is just cruising way too high for that to work.
Luckily, with the right optimization, people really shouldn't expect or ask for it. Some great looking stuff can be achieved on dated, affordable hardware in the console world.
