IGN now rates on a 20 POINT SCALE. Last year, this was not the case. The highest score they could give ME2 PS3 is a 9.5. If the core game wasn't a perfect 10/10 last year on PC/360, it still isn't now.
In this case 9.5 = 9.6
The reviewers are different, as well. Some people need to have their posting privileges revoked... I mean, look how many agrees the first post got, and it's based on faulty logic!
Looking forward to playing th...
The sheer quality of the panels is fantastic, and the comic itself is a great recap overall.
...But it doesn't even mention the Geth?! Not once! That's very strange. Practically the whole game revolved around them.
That he wins. Anything.
Look it up.
It remains to be seen whether or not they additionally violated some other law in the process (most notably the private keys). You can't own a string of numbers though, so we'll see what the court thinks.
If these guys are pronounced "not guilty" I will be laughing and anyone who thinks they have broken a law can eat it. However, if the reverse happens, I will be more than happy to eat my own words.
Whining about it won't change anything. I'm not directly talking about your post, but in general people are wasting their time here. Learn to live with hacking, like you do with your neighbour, or the weather...
But it goes to show you can't stop hacking. Bickering about it is pointless. As long as people learn programming and computers are around, they will exist.
You don't need to go through suffering to deserve fair trial and consideration.
I don't disagree with you, but this article isn't about piracy, it's trying to make the case for hackers not being all bad, which is true.
The nature of homebrew is that it's not allowed by these manufacturers. If I knocked on Sony's door and asked for them to implement homebrew functionality, they would laugh and throw me into the sewer.
Homebrew isn't essential, but forgetting the piracy argument right now, if you buy a console, shou...
Shouldn't be spoken seriously, or hurtfully, smart-ass. Get out if you're just going to make lame comments.
It's true.
These guys have certainly bent, or possibly broken some laws by getting into the system, but it's not THAT bad. I break the law on a daily basis, in more direct ways than these guys did. Fairly minor things, like traffic laws, or downloading music for free, which 99% of people do. Technically speaking, I deserve to be in jail more than these guys. Speeding, while not significantly, endangers the lives of others, and I've stolen thousands of songs!
I REALLY don't want to here with what I'm saying, but saying all hackers are bad is JUST as prejudiced as saying that black people steal stuff, or some other horribly offensive crap that should never be spoken.
There are good examples of hacking, and bad. In the case of the PS3, it was more NEUTRAL than anything. Think what you want, but these people did not directly promote piracy. This is why they will get off the hook. Hackers hack things just for the sake of doing...
Well this argument bores me. At least I see both sides of the coin. I don't need Internet approval.
Maybe people will finally see why hackers do what they do (generally speaking). Sure, there are some poor practices of it (mainly piracy), but overall it's meant to serve a greater purpose: your computer freedom. Thumbs up for this professor stating what should be common knowledge.
Regardless of what you think their hidden intentions were, if any, they are on the record for being anti-piracy, and put no effort into aiding it other than what was necessary to free the devic...
The thing about citing someone, is that you need to take as much as necessary to comment on the original point that was made:
"Hackers are like the modern day Robin Hood; They stand for the freedom of the use of technology, and give it back to everyone. The extent to which they cause harm is the issue of course, but the IDEA of a hacker is noble..."
...would be the full quote. They stand for something important, it's just that practically speaki...
It's because society doesn't have the "intelligence."
Nobody at least acknowledges how smart you have to be to hack something. Even if they do live in their mom's basement (which they probably don't), they've still achieved more than some of you will ever do.
Sony isn't more special than the other console manufacturers. The cat's out of the bag on this one, and even if these guys do get a slap on the wrist, either they or others will always answer the hacking call.
The only foolish people are...
Don't act so spoiled:
"we didn't even need Mass Effect 2."
Get off your high horse, it's one of the top 5 games available on any platform. You do NEED it.
Right. Kill them for making your software security look like a joke... punishment doesn't quite fit the crime.
I know you're joking, but still... these guys shouldn't, and won't, get anything more than a slap on the wrist.
You guys are all lame asses. Complaining about this, but nobody gives a damn about all the jailbroken iPods and PSPs. I hope Sony has more going for them, because last time I checked you can't be thrown in jail from jailbreaking a device. These guys know this. GeoHot will have the tougher time getting out of this one, though, because he's a douchebag... not because hacking makes you a douche, he's just literally a huge douche.
Oh well, already played ME1 on 360. I'll be finishing off the franchise on PS3, though.
So for me, I couldn't care less :)
