It just depends on who's playing it, and it is based on the staff at OXCGN's choices, not the world's choice of best game of the year. Hense the OXCGN's GOTY title.
I fi was to be the industry's GOTY, that would be different.
Hey, I'd have picked Forza 3, obviously, and also Avatar, as well as Assassin's Creed. Because these games, over others, have given ME the fun I like, not what I expect others to like . . can you see what I mean.
So it's based on a ...
I wouldn't call them "older titles" . .just titles that really didn't stand up all that much in the long run. While they are great, no doubt about that, they just don't have that "something" that many of the games did this year.
I also dislike the eventual look of the GTAIV characters in-game. Compared to the vids and promo shots.
At least with this, what you see in the screens and while actually sitting there looking at a good large HD screen is what you get in the actual game.
Those vids are all in-game, and you can even see individual muscle movements on the horses, which also use the Euphoria engine for their actions.
There's literally hundreds of NPC's going about their bus...
Wait till you do mate, you'll be amazed. You can make a choice as to which side you support, Avatar or the Soldiers etc, and the world you'll be involved in is enormous, The detail is staggering, the visuals just out of this world, and if you happen to have one of the new 3d TV's, then you're in for the biggest surprise of your life.
I think you can set it to play on noon-3d tv's, but not to the proper setting you would on a real 3d TV. I've spent quite a few hours in the game wo...
I'd rather work with real life style characters than those in games like GTA. They have no real 'life' about them, whereas this just sucks you in from the very beginning. And the game is not even finished yet, and it looks amazing.
Even though there's some excellent games there, wish I could vote more than once, but I have to go fro the recently released Avatar The Game. Bloody awesome game in so many ways.
Well that's actually true to some extent mate.
Earlier on, and still to some extent now, I have the odd person say things like, "what would you know about gaming, look at your game score . . . "what are you, a 10 yr old, can't you play games and get scores" and many similar comments, plus many much worse than those and unable to be printed here.
Thing is, I've been "gaming" per-se longer than some of those on here have been alive, as have man...
You can still play games without getting scores/points.
I finished MW2 the other day, yet probably only got about 200 odd points all up, and only unlocked poss 1/4 of the awards.
Yet I finished the game to my satisfaction, but will play it again on different difficulties, and also use the opt-out on the No More Russian level to see how the game plays without it.
Even FPS's need not be so heavily Multiplayer Achievement heavy as so many are.
...
As mentioned in the article, Ihave no time for score-chasing. They are there if I get them, and not fussed if I don't.
But those who do nothing other than find every one of them simply to show that they are supposidly better than others, is not much or a real gamer inmy eyes.
Yet someone who does play the game properly, takes the time and sincerly wants to get the maximum points and awards, then great. If they have a certain skill-set that is above others, then my ha...
One bullet will kill, as will a wound of significance. But for me, that's half the reason to make sure you use your head, rather than your body as a bullet sponge like some gamers do.
I think games like this help some gamers realize that a bullet is lethal, and it can kill with one hit., and that a grenade will kill you faster than you can blink an eyelid.
I can see this game only appealing to die-hard FPS fans though. As many gamers do prefer the lazy-mans FPS's of ...
Yes, quite true mate, and the c.ockatoos' and gallars' make a big mess when hit at high speed . . . thump......
But it would be a small price to pay for such a glorious experience. shame there's only 75 of them being made, and they are all accounted for already, at $US1,05mil each.
Bugger, I was planning on buying one next week . . . .(jk btw)
Even if you simply drop the tyre pressure, you'll get a much better feel for the car, and it will handle better in most situations.
It's dead easy to do, and you will feel the benefits from it, even if it is just the tyres.
But yes, there are several other tips there that can help as well.
Just love that Sir Sterling Moss SLR McLaren . . . it's bloody beautiful. Who cares if it has no top, or windscreen. It would be like riding a rocket motorbike . . . ...
I don't see you takingthe time to research and write articles for others to read.
So unless you do, and find out the huge work load required, why not pass civil comments and suggestions.
Yes, there is a 'block' button, but on higher difficulties, even that can be ineffective in the heat of a battle.
Enough for some to simply b=give up.
Plus Ninja Gaiden was/is one of the hardest Hack-n-slash games out there . .
Cliff and crew have been working on GOW 3 since 3 months prior to the release of GOW2 last November.
I spoke with him while he was in Sydney for the launch of the game, and it was obvious they were already working on its sequel, as well as another title, which was the XBLA title released during this year.
ALL game in sequel franchises start their following title approx 3-6 months out from the release of the cominig title. One section of the team that has been dealing...
There are several games there that definitely stir my interest as GOTY.
Personally I can not see what so many are on about with MW2 being bad, or not making sense etc, I just finished it last night, and it made perfect sense from start to finish, and leads us right into the next iteration from Infinity Ward.
AC2 is a huge step forward, as is Uncharted 2, and GForza 3 is certainly a leap forward on its predecessor. So it's not going to be an easy pick this year with G...
if they have moved this far ahead with AC2, then I'm really looking forward to AC3 when it hits sometime in 2011.
i"ve only just started it, but already can see it holds much more than the first on did.
Games by nature are repetitive, god, name one game that does not have any form of repetitiveness in it, especially those with large scale environments. But they have done a great job on knocking that down to what 'seems' like not being so repetitive.
I'm not a RPG fan, but this one tickles my fancy. NOt sure why, but it seems like a much more rounded story line, and seeing the game in action (gameplay) does have me want to spend some time with it.
I can't see why some gamers have to compare the games and diss one against the other. Why not just appreciate a new game for what it is, a new experience, and hopefully more developers will continue to build new IP's for US>
Otherwise we'll be stuck with sequel afte...
Thanks mate,
we're "gamers" first and fporemost at OXCGN. We all have multiple platforms to play and own variuos platforms and enjoy the games on EACH of them.
We simply have chosen one platform to devote our time to, especially on the site for one main reason.
I find that running a multiplatform site, and giving each platform the proper attention each would need would require dedicated staff on each level.
That is impossible unle...
And we don't care if it is an exclusive, as it's a bloody great game (GOW3), and we'll be reviewing it when it does front.
NOt as a comparison, but as it stands on its own two feet.
You're also forgetting two major games that are sneeking under the radar of most gamers. That is of course Red Dead: Redemption from Rockstar San Diego, and Metro 2033 (which we predicted would be on the 360 as far back as Dec 08), which is a quite achiver.
Red Dead: Redemption should really set ppl on their backs when it is released, it'll place GTA IV in its place, and become one of the best games of 2010.
