I recently read that the x720 may well have a real quad core unified CPU/GPU . . They have been working on a unified CPU/GPU now since the 360 came out, which is to either to go in the very last of the 360's prior to the x720, or be the first gen of CPU/GPU's in the x720.

Comparing results from the last gen to this-gen is not a good way to look at things. The PS2 hosed it in last gen, and it should have. It got to the market early, it was the mainstay of gaming on a console with the PS1 (PSone) and it continued that trend, and so it should have, it was unrivaled at the time.
The 1st-gen Xbox had a specific job to do, nothing more than that, It wasn't aimed at toppling Sony. From its original concept it had a life span that would not go past 5 year...
I agree, and I'll NOT take anything away from MGS4, it's an excellent game on the PS3, but Sony does need to have another major title up its sleeve NOW, not in 6 months time (Christmas etc) . . as by then, they could be in hot water.

We're only young, and we are gamers at heart, and over here in Australia, we are trying to broaden the community, and in doing so, show that we hold no grudges or biases towards any platform, so long as the game warrants coverage, it will get it, but our prim aim is supporting our chosen platform, the Xbox 360, as well as reporting on what's going on around our neck of the woods.

Actually, it's because of comments such as yours that we persist in being "who we are" and that is gamers first, and a particular platform supporter second and run a blogging based website (you did read that there are over 10 members of our 'team'- or didn't you even bother checking the site out?). Oh do wake up, It's NOT aimed at FPS, TP Adventure, RTS, Racing or any other user intensive game, it's sole aim is the casual, family orientated gaming market which MS, Sony and Nintendo are aiming at.
Sony boo-hoo'd online gaming and Social Gaming, it's ONE of the big reasons Phil Harrison left Sony, as his entire time he was with Sony he was pushing Social Gaming, and Sony kept hitting him on the head saying it'll never go anywhere, and Japanese are not into social gaming.
One thing many seem to forget is, that MS Xbox-Div, via MS Corp have a huge amount of ready $$liquid funds available, whereas Sony had a much smaller amount, even when the PS3 was launching.
It had around the 3 billion $US mark in excess funds to use (profit in banks) but MS had 4 times than much and more. They have just stated publicly they will push even more funds at the whole platform across the board ion order for it to work.
