I'm afraid it's past my desire period with such games. Many years ago I liked them, not so much now though.I did enjoy reading it though, and it did spark a small amount of interest, and did notice it in at Civic yesterday when I was there.

SO perhaps an overnight rental might ??? be in order . .? We'll see if I can get some Fee Civic Credits up, then I won't actually have to pay to play it hehehe

Yes they are, and they HAVE been in deeper discussions with MS and the new projects name is Darwin, which relates to the MS controller, NOT The PS3 one. do do some more research. Xbox360World did their homework on it around 3 weeks ago or thereabouts, and had discussions with Motus re Darwin Project which they confirmed was being designed with MS's help.

This IS has items are designed and made, through MOCK-UPS and prototypes. God, sometimes I think many just believe items appe...

Try looking at the article again, there's a new pic with a link straight to Motus's home site with a blow up of the prototype controller. Not so rumour any more eh . . .

You will find an UPDATE on the article which include a full view pic of the controller (two piece) and a link to the developer site Motus who are building it. SO to those who said it's a Photoshop mock up, have another look and see what you say now, remembering it is a prototype and will most likely vary by full production time. Many thanks to Gamer4Life for the link btw.

Do you read posts, or just post your thoughts.

The newton is aimed at party games, socially gathering style games for the casual gamers. NOT the games requiring normal controller use.

The 360's current controller pad is and will be the controller of choice for many gamers around the world for serious games, but this will open a door that Ms and even Sony need to get into if they wish to survive. And with Sony being $US3 billion behind the eight ball, you can bet the...

You just don't get it, do you.

This is simply a controller for casual, family orientated party games. Not a TV controller come remote, come motion sensor device.

The PS3 has the normal sixaxis, then it MAKES you buy what they should supply free, the rumble Sixaxis, and then just like MS, offer a TV remote at and EXTRA charge as well, not free with the console.

Stop being a fanboy and look past your blinkers and see what the industry is doing and you might...

I think you'll find it will work with 'some' games but definitely not with high use games as you mention. They simply wouldn't work over extended time periods.

The 360 controller is perfectly designed for long periods at a game without any RSI or muscle fatigue. This will simply be aimed at a "different audience" than the hardcore or even medium range gamer. It will be aimed at the family and social (read party) style games where everything is in short period and lots o...

You're probably closer to the money than you think you are mate.

The game has been pushed back, yet it's well into its dev cycle and could well come out much sooner, if they did some burning of midnight oil.

But, in order for say MS to take advantage of it (the games use of sabers etc), they could be looking at the delay (brought about by internal pressure and the hint of greater overall sales) as a way to introduce the Newton along side both Banjoo-Kazooie and SW:FU...

Again, this IS a PROTOTYPE, not a finished item. The two rarely look the same in any business development. What we see sitting on the shelves come the end of the year will NOT be what we see here now.

Ahhhh this is what I love about the net . no one reads, just looks at pics (no offense meant mate).

The Newton aka The Darwin Project, is only for certain games within the xbox360 and XBLA system. Games such as the new Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts-N-Bolts, and a few others under development right now which will be aimed at "social gaming" not HARDCORE gamers.

Aimed at "families, fun party games and social gathering style gaming. NOT the FPS, RTS, MMO etc etc et...

Prototypes generally do not look like the finished item.

God, you should have seen the final 10 Xbox360 prototypes - shudder.

So the real one will probably bear some resemblance to this, in some ways, but the nature of prototypes is to disguise the actual final product. Ever notice how a prototype car never looks the same as the one that roles off the production line.

Many aspects have to be taken into consideration once the "basic' idea is concrete...

More like a bucket with way too many holes mate.

Too many people discussing the same thing under different roofs, so little control in who says what and where and when.

Plus it's an ideal way to turn up heat on a topic and make it topical within the gaming industry at large. What better way to "leak" things out. It's a common practice to "leak" information out through "reliable sources" so that it gains some credibility, and at the same ...

Having compiled over 120 pics for this review, I'd have to disagree with you there mate.

Just check some of the ones towards the end of the review, all in-game shots and some of the thumbnail pics when seen in High Rez they look great.

I've only played the demo on my 360, so I can't say what it actually looks like being played, and I have a SDTV, so even on it they looked damn fine. DICE are using little or no memory per-say on the 360 for all that destruction, which...

So 'what' is the difference between discussing the earlier Splinter Cell series on the Xbox, than say doing so on the PS2 and if it was available through the PSN . . or any other game available on the PSN available as a downloadable last gen game.

Open your eyes a little and you might learn some things from history. You might see that in this so-called HD era, there are many developers simply cashing in and supplying YOU with sub-standard games. Games that would have been second...

I have all the Splinter Cell iterations available on the 1st-gen Xbox and 360, and Chaos Theory was perhaps one of the best ones available on the platform.

Plus those who did play it on the Xbox would have noticed that the games had far more content that then PS2 version of the same game. They had more NPC's, more level design, more story content, greater detailed environments. And each level was longer than any of the PS2 versions.

This isn't just some thing I'm mak...

Never really given it a thought until now. Reading the review while I was adding art got me thinking about at least getting it out for a day or two from Civic and trying it out.

The question remains though, whether or not Australia will get this particular CE, as it often misses out on a number of CE's and LE's simply due to lower sales numbers in Australia compared to other countries. We might be a HUGE geographical area, where the UK can be shoe horned into several times over, but our total populations is only 22+ million, which is a drop in the ocean when compared to the UK.

Many a collector has to make do with importing such items, and also knowing t...

WHile I've only played a little of it, it is quite challenging that's for sure. The ninjas are okay to get through, especially with the Lunar Staff, but when it comes to the Big Bosses, well . . they take a little pounding than normal.

It's a game I'll eventually get around to slashing my way through, but for now, I'll stick with my GRID and such-like where I know my opponents can be beaten . .

Well seeing that we are an "Official Xbox Community Site", we can't use the words like "Modded, Modified" etc, so they are in fact simply "cosmetic" or superficial mods . .

If you check on the site's article (ours), in the first paragraph you will see that there are some links to the official E3 '08 Site which is GameTrailers, they are the ones officially covering it this year, so will most likely have the first footage out on the net.
