Cool, now I don't have to import it, unless of course they don't bring out the CE here, then I'll be getting it from the UK anyhow . . But great to see it's finally gotten through, albeit in a slightly modified form.

Because it still has an "active" user base of in excess of 2 million players globally, that's why. That's 2 million gamers playing, modding, working on Live Leaderboards, in Paint Comps, Drifting events, Drag events and All the various Racing Class Tournaments . .

Plus it's a brilliant game, and even the racing pros like Marl Scaife love the game and have comment on it's extreme ability to be as close to a sim as you can get on a console. That's from REAL racing driver...

And actually, it was Atari and Konami that gave away the PS3 and games packs . . Sony were nowhere to be seen on the evening, not even a Logo was present . .

I just got back from the last day of the WCG rounds in Sydney where one young team will be heading to Germany to compete in the finals.

Then there was a HUGE fashion show that MS had organized that took 6 weeks to do. they got the young fashion students at Ultimo TAFE to design fashions around XboxLIVE Arcade g...

You do know that you're an idiot - don't you . .?

MS at least spend money on their COMMUNITY. They invest it in those that support it, the Community that helps them. All bar a few of the team have PS3's, do you hear them complaining about it. NO, DO you hear them disssing it, no. Do you see them going to Sony run events - no.

That's because SOny TELL it's supporters to buy their products, even if it costs way more than the others, and do NOT give anything back to th...

Now you know why games end up costing so much, and why majors like Ubi, EA etc lose millions each year, money that if they did get, would fun more games, help open more studios and get innovative young developers to dig deeper into new IP's . .

How can they do that if we (we're all opart of it) steal their property, or condone it in some way.

Actually, after speaking earlier on with Ron Curry, he has stated that all states can use the R18+ if they so choose, much like Qld currently do with some of their ratings, not allowing some in their state that are readily available in others.

He said that IF the industry wanted to, they could run their games in the R18+ classification in all states bar South Australia, but they would have to weigh up the financial risk against sales in that region. If it was marginal, then some...

Actually that's something I'd love to know as well.

We'll be tracking down as much information as possible. Earlier on in the year I did an interview with the new CEO of the Australian IEAA - The Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia and he's 100% behind a change that's for sure. the interview was great, and shown a lot of information on what is happening. But like all things political, they move very slowly when they don't have the push from the public to do so.

No, give me wide open spaces please.

I spent some time exploring Far Cry the 360 version and found some interesting things hidden well away from the normal routes. Plus found ways of doing the game differently than you would 'normally' do if just following the normal rails of a game.

Lead to some interesting outcomes as well.Which is why I believe gamers should often look deeper into games rather than rushing through them, and just taking the most logical route.

I'm just tired of the same old environments actually, so new ones add some greater challenges, and also greater immersion, imo anyway.

For some, they want a known environment so they can get through it quickly. But for many, new and exciting environments add a sense of mystic to a game, offering a deeper look into what is going on behind the developers concepts when coming up with the game.

I' also thinking Dead Space might not see the light of day in Australia either. It's main focus of beating your foe is "Strategic dismemberment" . .meaning that you can shoot the crap out of them and they'll still keep coming, and you need to dismember them in order to stop them .. And that's not going to sit well with the OLFC here.

Plus re environments, it actually doe s Zero Gravity really well, not only in effects, but in sound. As we all know (?) that in space, the...

Personally, I'm rather impressed with Faith and a .45, as well as the previous part 1 articles coverage of Hydrophobia. Where the water plays a significant part in what happens, and HOW it happens. It even has untertow and currents to deal with, rather than just one flow of water.

Red Faction's next game has a huge reliance on HOW a building is damaged as to what actuallyhappens an dthat in turm dictates how you will need to make choices. There' sno two reactions the same as each...

Environment are crutial for gameplay. They set the tone and the theme for the entire game. There are many more games coming that have used the environment as a major part of the gameplay, rather than just a scene to walk through.

Such as Dead Space, Hydrophobia, Red Faction 3. Games where you can use the environment to your advantage.

DO you realise you fool, that 80% of news site and web developers use blogging software to build their sites, and WP constitues 70 odd % of the software used . . Most simply remove the WP sub-domain . . and as far as you know, they are normal sites, but the WP subdomain is hidden.

Do some research. Our site has PASSED an extensive MS process to gain approval which includes signing NDA's and the like, and is only one of five on their main Community Web Sites main page in Australia...

That's funny, because Joystiq do post rumours and items such as this, This isn't CNN remember, it's called New For Gamers . . I've been on here since very early on when it was just starting, and yes, there is a great deal of rubbish that gets through, and a heap of simple re-hashed news that has no news but simply a link to the source along with no comment from who posted. it Those things should be the things disallowed.

There were rumours of Halo 3, Mass Effects expected pre-ord...

You guys that post Reports on articles amaze me . .News is news and yet if it came of Joystiq, Destructioud etc, even being a rumour, which it is, and thus allowed to be discussed . .it wouldn't even raise and eyebrow. . . Grow up and allow pple to read what THEY want to read, not what you DICTATE they MUST read.

I think you have hit the nail on the head in many ways there. With so many really good AAA titles coming out, many gamers simply want a 'taste' of each. They can ay they played it, and move onto the next one, etc etc. yet spend very little time realy exploring the game as the developer intended.

SO they (Developers) are caught in between a rock and a hard place. DO they innovate and create new IP and new physics and game play, controls etc which will require more work on the game...

Yes, you could replace it with almost anything. I have nothing against the PS3 per-say, nor Sony. MS are not angels and do some real dumb-arsed stuff. All companies do, be that through their manufacturing, promotions or marketing.

But one thing the major console manufactures have in common atm is they are all trying to innovate and make changes in a market that is 'suppossidly' screaming for change. Yet when they make changes, or advance on their existing technology, the market ...
