An 8 is still good. Skyward Sword won't get the same crazy review average that OoT got simply because a lot has changed over the years. Sitting at a 95, SS still looks to be a more than worthy addition to the series. Can't wait.
Seeing all of these scores makes me remember all of the flak this game got after the fail E3 demo. How people called the game broken despite numerous reports to the contrary. Probably one of the most unsuccessful debuts of a game I've ever seen.
The Zelda series is unique in that there's really no substantial hype from Nintendo usually. You don't see too many "our game is awesome" type statements. They shut up and let the game do the talking. That bein...
Zelda will most certainly be in the discussion as well. Skyrim, UC3, and SS will be the top 3 contenders. Lol, look at that lineup. This will go down as one of the best years of gaming.
Yes! Can't wait for this game!
Nice. Hopefully it's the first perfect score of many for this game.
That would be great. I doubt it'll dominate like OoT did in '98, but based on the reviews so far(which isn't many, admittedly), it has real potential to get OoT level reviews.
Ditto. In that same exact order. Although I would have LttP share a spot with 2 or 3.
Sooo hyped for this game. It'll be interesting to see how things go tomorrow. I've seen so many articles that label it the best Zelda game ever. I think tomorrow's scores are going to surprise people.
Timeless is a good way to describe it. My Zelda experience started with OoT. I didn't play the previous ones, though. So when I booted up the GBA port, I was expecting an adjustment period given the game's age. So it surprised me when it felt natural playing a 2D Zelda game. Most of that is due to the game being a precursor to modern Zelda games. It's format was way ahead of it's time, given when the game came out.
I was a Genesis kid, so I didn't get to play LttP on the SNES. I did play the GBA port, and while I don't think it's the best, I respect what it did for the series.
Nostalgia will always be a part of gaming. The games a person grew up with becomes a part of who he/she is.
Both systems are great/looking great. I am firmly on the Nintendo side of things, and my comment history is pretty evident of that. I like the Mario and Zelda games, and even though they are a bit samey(though SS might put that label to rest on the zelda side of things), they are still high quality titles.
On the other side, it's hard not to be impressed by the Vita. I was interested to see how Sony would react after it's first effort. They reacted in a big way. The...
Yes! I love Jak and Daxter. Will be getting one for sure.
The Vita is the strongest threat Nintendo has ever had to deal with in the portable market..and this is coming from a huge Nintendo portable fan. The Vita seems to have corrected nearly every problem the PSP had.
So I want the Vita to do well, too. Will it overtake Ninty? My guess is no, but if any portable can do it, it's the Vita. I can guaruntee that Nintendo won't get blown out, though.
I have a 3DS, and I will most certainly own a Vita at so...
I'm still excited for it. With Zelda, it's all about the story and atmosphere for me anyway.
Ocarina of time is pretty hard... in the 3DS version of master quest. The Fire Temple is one of the hardest dungeons I've played in a 3D Zelda game.
I think Skyward Sword could be a dark horse. They're doing a lot of neat little things gameplay-wise to shake things up, and they're spicing up the story by including a few things that the Zelda series hasn't really done before. I think it'll surprise a lot of people if they can pull everything off the way they want to.
Is the combat still stop and pop? I've played a little of the first two, but the gunplay kinda turned me off. Not saying they're bad games, it's just that I don't like that particular style of combat.
Also, how direct are the sequals? Is it one continuous storyline or 3 loosly connected ones?
Kind of a risky statement, but It's at least upper tier fantasy. The lore surrounding Hyrule is DEEP. There's so much information and detail surrounding it, making it seem like a real place. Each new entry adds a new layer of depth, as well as filling in the holes of other entries. The setting is one of the best in gaming IMO.
It's going to be hard to do, but it's possible.
Those are alright 3DS numbers. The heavy hitters are going to help things greatly this holiday IMO.
That's good news. Nintendo realized and corrected the pricing error before it was too late for recovery, and the system has two heavy hitters coming out this holiday in Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Nintendo seems to be doing fine.
