They're both really good themes for sure. The early pokemon games had some awesome themes. I'm the same way, I can't explain why I think the RB theme is so epic. It really does boil down to personal preference.
GSC is probably the better game musically overall. A lot of the themes were catchy as hell.
I personally think the Pokemon Red/Blue champion theme is one of the best final themes. A bit disappointed to not see it up there. It was such a fun theme. The frantic tone really added to the battle.
The 3DS has a pretty killer game lineup for 2012.
Mario Tennis makes its return after completely skipping a console/handheld generation, Animal Crossing will make it's 3DS debut, and Paper Mario looks like it's going back to its turn based roots.
Those three are the big ones for me. Fans of Nintendo have a lot to be excited about this year.
3D land was pretty easy, but you can make it challenging.
Try clearing stage S7-4, collecting all of the star coins, and gold flagging it in one run with no powerups. Took me a long time to do that.
The hate goes both ways. Vita fanboys with their "Vita is for real gamers" crap, and Nintendo fanboys with their 3DS wins automatically mindset. I've seen some very elitist posts from both camps.
Now, the percentage of people who actually believe the above statements are small on both sides. In general, both companies have solid fanbases supporting them.
I think Nintendo should keep making them as long as the quality level remains up there.
Those are great numbers for Sony. They've really stepped up their marketing, as I've seen a lot of Vita commercials. For me, the first real indicator will be the holiday months. At that point, both the Vita and 3DS will have multiple system sellers by that point, so it'll be a good indicator of what the market is feeling about both systems.
The 3DS is doing pretty good, too. All it really needs to do is stay consistent during the Vita's launch period.
I downloaded the Picross, and I love it. I always wanted to try it, but for one reason or another it never happened. So now was the time for me to try it. It's very addicting and you can easily get caught in its pace. I gambled 100 points on it, and I think it's worth it so far.
The Vita doesn't need to beat the 3DS in sales. The Vita should focus on surpassing PSP numbers first and foremost. That's all it needs to do. There's absolutely no shame in losing the sales battle to Nintendo in the portable market. Nintendo is very serious about their portable systems, and IMO bring their A game to portable systems more often than their home consoles.
I think the Vita will do very well. It has a lot going for it. Outstanding technology, great initial software support, and at a price that's not too far off the mark. I think $200 is the magic number, but even at $250 it's well worth it.
The best part about this "war" is that there really doesn't need to be one. Each system provides great experiences. They're different enough to coexist in the market.
I'm a 3DS guy, though. Mari...
I went with the 3DS because I have always been a big fan of what Nintendo offers in terms of portables. It's a natural fit that for me goes back to the Gameboy Pocket days. The 3DS has not disappointed me. Yeah, the lineup is a little remake heavy, but I'm very excited for what's to come this year. In short, I don't regret going with the 3DS as my primary portable.
The Vita is great in its own right. It's a technological behemoth with a great game line up....
3DS/WiiU cross platform play would be cool. IE; 3DS and WiiU players playing in matches together online.
I think those are pretty good numbers. Things are only going to get better. I've personally seen a lot of TV spots for the Vita over the last few days, so it's not like they're not trying.
The Vita is doing fine.
* Pokemon is in MY gaming DNA lol. Didn't mean to word it that way.
The Kyurem-ized Reishram and Zekrom look so bad. IDK, maybe they'll grow on me, but right now they look pretty bad.
I'll buy the game, though. Pokemon is in gaming DNA.
I agree with the WW Ganondorf fight. The whole thing was just awesome. I remember getting really nervous because I had trouble timing the final parry. It was one of those things where you had to be dead on or close to it. Plus, the whole thing taking place in a drowning Hyrule was awesome.
I also really liked the Manfred case In Ace Attorney. It was an objection fest and he played his unlikable perfectionist role perfectly. Ironically, he's actually one of my favorite cha...
I actually like watching Lets Play's. They're very hit and miss, but some of them are extremely informed about the game they're covering, and you end up learning new things. Especially for the older games.
It looks pretty good, but I did notice 2 things,
1: Be sure to limit your bias as much as possible. It already came out a bit in the end of the partnership paragraph. You're doing a timeline type project. Usually you just relay the facts as objectively as possible. Using language like "Scared the hell out of" and "Bad move, Nintendo" produces a noticeable slant in Sony's direction. You want to try and avoid that.
2: Your choice of ...
I've heard various things about this. One thing I like is that you can apparently synch the controller simply by touching the system with it. That would be a great upgrade from their current format for adding controllers.
At first, to be honest, I thought immediately of Smash Bros. I saw a lot of similarities there.
However, there are some really cool elements in All Stars. The LBP level looks like it would be a blast to play on. I'm interested in the gradual finisher system they're going with. I also liked the complex/chaotic backgrounds.
Overall, I'm definitely interested, and will see how this game comes into its own.
