I think that the Vita will close the gap Nintendo has... but a gap will still be there.
I don't think Sony needs to beat out anything. The 3DS and Vita are completely different in terms of hardware, software, and philosophy. Which is why I think this handheld console war is retarded.
If I were Sony, I wouldn't AIM to dethrone Nintendo. I would focus on making the Vita the best it can be, give it great software support, and continue carving its place i...
That's good news.
By the end of the month, I think it will be pretty obvious that NOTHING is doomed. The 3DS has an awesome first party lineup for 2012 and the Vita has one of the best launch lineups ever. Handheld gaming is about to make a big statement.
Kefka was pretty awful. You could tell he was just one sick dude. He really gave you motivation to kick his ass. I remember being shocked when one of Kefka's cronies asked about what to do with the women and children. "Are you Kidding?! Kill them too!" was his reply. That really set the tone. The part where he poisoned the water behind the general's back was bad, too. Kefka's hardcore.
Zelda is at kind of a turning point. For the first time in a while, they have an opportunity to do something completely new. The current "era" is more or less over. They could theoretically put a game between SS and OoT, but the story arc looks pretty complete to me.
And with the Wii U coming out, it would be the perfect launching pad for a new beginning.
I like Home. It's fun to just play some bowling with 3 other people when you're bored. It's a nice diversion.
That's a pretty tall order IMO. We'll see how things go. It all comes down to preference. For me, I prefer my portable games to be simple. Having a console like experience like Uncharted or Assassins creed isn't ideal for me. I can, however, see the appeal in it. Anything is possible, but I personally don't see it. The Vita is certainly the biggest threat, though.
Oh, and I'm a regular gamer, for the record. The kind that plays whatever the hell he wants r...
Where did you get your info about employees playing and re-wrapping new games? I'm genuinely curious. I've read many a rant from ex employees, but I haven't once heard about that. I've always assumed that they can only do it with used games. The closest I've heard to what you're saying is that one person did say that they rented out gutted new copies. Even then that's only one out of about five(I like me a good Gamestop rant lol). So yeah, this is the first I'v...
I agree. I can easily see it getting too gimmicky and/or Nintendo using the tech on titles that don't really benefit from it.
From a technical standpoint, I think that if Nintendo decides to implement this tech, it would work. Rather, they wouldn't put something like this in there if it didn't function.
The main concern I have is about implementation. Will this tech co-exist with what they want to do with games, or will it be an extra bullet point...
Nintendo continues to take steps in the online department. It'll be interesting to see the inaugural DLC looks like. It'll provide a glimpse into what Nintendo aims to do with DLC. Going by what they've said previously, I would like to think that it won't be something stupid.
Man, the WiiU is looking better and better. Nintendo isn't screwing around this time, it seems. They're even considering a name change. Bring back the revolution name.
The RPG's need to show up again at some point. Say what you will about shovelware, but there was a respectable RPG lineup for the DS as well.
Continue with the Visual Novels. With the DS, Nintendo helped Popularize visual novels outside of Japan. The Ace Attorney series was a hit that no one saw coming. People really bought into that style of game, and it became a mini genre on the DS. It created some of the most unique experiences on the system.
Bring 3 ...
The stars might be aligning for a very impressive Nintendo showing this June. I have a hunch that Nintendo will stun people.
Nintendo seems very serious about appealing to the core.
I'm personally looking forward to Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and Mario Tennis for the 3DS.
Animal crossing is always fun for me, Paper Mario seems to be going back to it's RPG roots, and Mario Tennis makes its return after completely skipping this gen.
Vita looks good, but odds are I won't be getting one this year. I think I'll let the library grow for a while. There's no one title that makes me want to shell out $250 at this point. I ...
I can definitely see the Wii U getting in on GTA V. There's no real reason not to IMO. It would be a good statement type announcement to show that Nintendo is going to try harder than they have in a long time to win back core gamers.
Fi is pretty annoying IMO. Her "calculations" were funny at first, but they got old over time. Also I hate how she demands your attention every freakin time you're low on health... just to tell you you're low on health. 'cause, you know, the constant beeping isn't obvious enough lol.
I agree.. in concept. However I question weather a complete revamp would be good for the series. A quick 180 would just alienate the fanbase IMO.
To me, Zelda has a unique identity. I'm against modernization because it would Jepordize that. Zelda is starting to need change, but I don't know if adapting to what's popular today is the change it needs.
Overhauling a series like Zelda is going to be an extremely risky process. They have to find a way ...
The gameplay to me is pretty darn different. I felt awkward throughout the first half of Skyview temple because it was so different. Yes, the general format is the same, but the way you get from A to B is completely redone IMO. Right from the getgo the game throws a lot of gameplay elements that are completely new to the series. Also, some of the tired and true mechanics have gotten retooled as well.
If you were to look at SS in a general, broad sense, then yes it would look ...
If Nintendo taught me anything, it's that it's best to wait until a full reveal. Remember when Nintendo launched the Wii in concept, formerly known as the Revolution? Gamers and game journalists alike laughed the thing out of the building. The next E3, Nintendo showed the tech running actual games. The same people hating on the Wii were in that 3 hour plus line to play it for 15 minutes.
I'm just saying, let's see the Wii U run real games. No one knows enough...
Link's Awakening was indeed a fantastic Zelda game. I even enjoyed it more than LttP. The music, as you said, was great, and the game had an awesome personality to it. It really was a truly great experience.
I'll be getting this whenever it comes out. I've always enjoyed the series.
