*Hopefully this carries over to next gen.
I missed JRPG's this gen. I've played some good ones on the DS, but there's been a noticeable absence of them on consoles. Xenoblade reminded me of what a JRPG can bring. So many unique and deep gameplay mechanics.
Hopefully we this carries over to next gen.
I'm afraid that any attempt at a huge console pokemon game might destroy its unique identity. There really isn't another Pokemon out there right now. When you make a pokemon game similar to Skyrim or an MMO, you're just opening the doors for all of the "lol, Skyrim ripoff" articles and comments.
I'm not entirely against something like this, but I think they should only do it when they know they have something that would allow them to maintain the uni...
I've had my eye on this for a long time. Unfortunately, I am unable to play it because my PS3 broke a while ago, and I obviously wasn't able to replace it. Hopefully I'll get to play it eventually.
I have doubts about AA5 making it this year in english at least. There's no release date for Japan yet, so it would have to release within the next few months over there for localization to get done on time.
Also, don't you mean DQ VII(7)?
True, and there are still a number of copies still in circulation at gamestop.
However, people are buying the game for $70 and up on Ebay. Worth keeping an eye on at the very least.
I was really on the fence with Xenoblade, but when I got to the store I finally gave in because deep down I knew I wanted it. I'm glad I did. The game is good, and it seems like I'll be able to make a gain on it when it comes time to sell.
I can't wait to see what these guys do with AR. That could be a big unique aspect to this series.
Since they like to encourage local multiplayer, could you imagine something like face to face AR battles? It seems kind of difficult to do, but that could be a really cool gameplay mode.
I always assumed that the gamepad was them just transitioning their DS concept to the home console.
I agree completely. The imprisoned was not an interesting enemy to me, so fighting him 3 times got annoying to me.
I liked the Ghirahim fights, though. I remember how much of a curveball the first fight was. It was pretty difficult for a first boss fight. In terms of difficulty, It could have fit comfortably in the second half of the game IMO.
Sony's arrogance in 2005-2006 is what started it I think. Some of those remarks they have to be wishing they never said.
I love the Playstation 3. Before my 60GB died, I loved playing LBP and Infamous. So it really didn't have an effect on me.
However, I don't think I'll ever like Kaz Hirai after hearing his "Next gen doesn't start until we say it does" line. That was pretty much the first time a gaming story truly pissed me off...
The trailer was far from a full reveal. The only thing they showed of the battle system are the animations. Those people saying that the core mechanics are not going to change much have a good chance of being right. But how people can say so with such a degree of certainty after a ~30 second trailer with nothing but the MC running around is beyond me. If there's something I missed in the trailer, tell me.
I wish fanboys on both sides would stop fabricating a handheld console war. There really is no need for one. Both systems appeal to different groups of people, and the way they go about business is completely different as well. There's not a ton of overlap between the two. I think the two can coexist in the market.
With them doing a dual Japan/US announcement, I think it's some sort of tournament for either the card game or the video game.
HG/SS, BW and BW2(I believe), were all revealed in either Coro Coro or their TV show Pokemon special/smash. I would be more optimistic about Gen VI if it was teased by either of those, but with the pokemon company teasing it, I think it's some sort of event/promotion.
Yeah, there's a group of people who really, really want Nintendo to be a software only company for some reason. Very likely won't happen, though.
Not to mention Nintendo has clearly stated that its software will die with its hardware in that case. So people dreaming about Mario on Playstation and Xbox will very likely never get their wish. Nintendo is very adamant about that.
Having a friend around does enhance some aspects of a JRPG, especially when you do something incredible.
An example is when I was playing a Pokemon game, my cousin was watching me play. I was training a new team of level 20-somethings. I accidentally ran into a trainer with level 45 plus pokemon. My best chance was to throw out my Quilava because it had a type advantage against the opponent. Incredibly, my Quilava swept the opponents team despite a 20 level advantage. My cou...
Thank you for saying this. It truly makes me sad when I read comments from people wanting Nintendo to leave the industry. They've done so much, and they continue to provide an alternative for people who are in the mood for something other than the gritty, blockbuster type games. So I think that a market without Nintendo would be a very bad thing at this point.
These things are a guilty pleasure of mine. I like how light hearted and infomal they are. Plus, this setting allows Nintendo to inject its quirky sense of humor, which reminds me of those 90's video promos for games that you got in the mail sometimes.
That said,I cringe every time the developers talk. The lines seem incredibly forced/phoned in.
I agree. There haven't been too many defining boss fights for me this gen. A lot of times I usually make preparations that I don't even use because it usually ends before I start to get nervous.
I remember the days where you got scared when the game started giving you lots of health potions all of a sudden, and then you see the save point. You knew something big was about to happen.
