Thank you.
I'm not really into the soap opera aspect of this controversy but anyone at least addressing poor ethics from games media on display deserves to have the story buffered.
I fear that major media will try to derail the topic back into one of misogyny following the threats on Sarkeesian, which would be a real shame given that the larger sites would likely fall right back into their old ways.
Godmars290 has it correct.
Just to annex that point, 4chan is going a step further by collaborating with The Fine Young Capitalists to show support for female game designers in the media.
Right now the narrative from game media is that anyone supporting TFYC or 4chan are rampant misogynistic rape-apologists.
It's a little hard to keep levying that association against gamers when they're actively now supporting and promoting female ga...

Well said.
I'm kind of in your boat, too.
I don't give a crap about such-and-such's personal life. I just don't care.
What bothers me is that these high-horsers are using their influence to silence the gaming community, to trounce IndieGoGo campaigns like The Fine Young Capitalists (google up TFYC doxxed for more info) and have attacked people who actually are or are trying to contribute to the growth of game culture.
...
Godmars290 said it well and said it right.
The only thing I'm going to add is that we're in a tough economy and finding work (even for talented or educated writers) is not an easy task.
I hate that she stayed anonymous because it dampens the effect this story could have had, but I understand her trepidation given the criticism and potential job-loss she would face if she came out.
Also, one journalist stepping forward may not be enoug...
Bwahaha.
Dude, that deserves a bubble up for funny. Absolutely hilarious.
She used her connections in the gaming media to get The Fine Young Capitalists game jam doxxed and shutdown.
That prevented a good amount of potential game developers from helping make and contribute to the growth of game culture.
The simple question is this: do you support people who help bring you more games or people who prevent you from having more games to play?
A small victory, but gamers need to keep the pressure on. Exposure is the key.
Hopefully more sites will put their own take on it.
There's already groups working together to spread the word on how to affect traffic for the larger sites.

I agree and disagree about the Kickstarters -- as a gamer I feel it's the duty of the community to do all that they can to help see some of these titles come to life because the POS publishers don't care.
If I had $10k to donate to something like Mighty No. 9 I would do it in an instant. If I were writing for one of the larger sites and I wrote about the game, I do feel that that should be made known, but it doesn't take anything away from the site or the coverage...
It already is...
they don't play video games.
The truth in your statement is what makes their campaigns and rallies so silly sometimes.
Man, the sequel would be awesome with Oculus Rift support, a slightly bigger budget for better animations and a bit more exploration on the player's end.
They're true.
The Fine Young Capitalists got their campaign doxxed by The One We Shall Not Name.
In retaliation, 4Chan decided to support The Fine Young Capitalists as a capital middle-finger to all those who backed The One We Shall Not Name and helped bury The Fine Young Capitalists without doing any research or... their freaking jobs.
Good on 4Chan for representing the community in the right way. Maybe the a-holes at the larger sites ...
I just like the comparisons.
Even when games are of the same genre (Forza vs Driveclub) there are tons of excuses why they can't be compared.
But meh, to each their own.
Love the two comments above about tiny schlongs and hacking.
Man I haven't seen one of these in ages. Nice to see these comparisons come back, even though the diehard fans on either side will complain about them.
For everyone yelling "misogynist" against the gaming community, this Nathan kid got off Scott-free.
The least that should have happened is this kid should have been suspended.
If any writer/journalist covering political news for a major media outlet was sleeping with anyone associated with a candidate in the race to become POTUS they would get axed immediately.
The fact that in the games media these people are covered-for and protec...
