If you look at GTA V on GameStop, it's not like you're getting that great a deal compared to the cheaper 360/PS3 version. You're literally paying more money for better graphics. It's $39.99 brand new on 360 versus $59 brand new on the Xbox One. The only thing you're getting in the new-gen version is better graphics and the already-released updates/patches. You don't even get any additional DLC with GTA V on the new-gen consoles.

It's the opposite i...

lol... the video had me cracking up. The leopard-rug pimp music at the 20 second mark was just way too awesome for its own good.

I do agree. For $49.99 that's a darn good deal for two remastered games for console or PC.

I know a lot of people complain about seventh gen games being remastered, but this is one of those few games that really deserved it, as it really needed better hardware to shine than what was available from the 360 or PS3.

@WildArmed

Nah, they didn't boo out GMG and a few other digital services that were listed where Bethesda/id games were being sold at a discount during the presentation.

EDIT: But you're probably right, they would have likely booed out uPlay since it sucks pretty badly.

It's going to be a long, hard walk back up to the top of the mountain.

I really wasn't expecting gamers to boo out deals on a gaming service. lol, I mean really... THEY BOOED OUT GAME DEALS!!!

I'd just like to toss in a point -- in regards to people talking about "the industry was always male-dominated" -- and say that a little research goes a long way.

There were many female developers with a strong presence in the industry throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Some of the best selling games throughout those times were designed by females, from the Gabriel Knight series to Kings Quest and Quest for Glory.

The thing was is that the market shi...

lol I don't get this. You wouldn't even be able to see the female even if they did put it in. So what would be the point?

EDIT: For those who don't know, the game is setup like Watch Dogs, so everyone who plays is always going to be the main protagonist, Arno. So a female avatar wouldn't even be visible to the person playing the game.

"Both of these companies think they are Netflix but Netflix is platform agnostic which works in its favour as people pay to use Netflix on a product they already own and use"

Exactly this.

Netflix has no allegiance; they don't cater to fanboys -- and as much as anyone would like to deny it, MS, Sony and Nintendo MUST cater to the fanboys if they want to maintain some form of market strength when they bring new products to consumers.

I know you only got one bubble, but I just wanted to say I agree with you: that to get real info you have to ask real people.

Before I buy a game I always check Amazon reviews, Steam reviews or other REAL gamers about a game because I've learned not to trust game reviewers and their skewed view that's been tainted by too many years being stuck in the twisting gears of publisher BS.

I understand we're running out of bubbles here, but I do have to question: What's the difference between Call of Duty and Halo then?

Personally, I always felt Call of Duty actually had stronger narrative designs than Halo, no matter how ridiculous and over-the-top they were. So why would Halo be deemed more appropos for strong female characters or depictions over Call of Duty?

I'm not really saying one or the other deserves one form of writing of ...

Of course, but what you're talking about here is something that's quite present in many games outside of the blockbuster action titles.

You'll find character traits of all sorts in point-and-click and adventure games like Deponia, Post-Mortem, Nancy Drew, the interactive visual novels or tons of RPGs out there.

Majority of the complaints from the other side come into play with how genders and traits are portrayed in games mostly geared toward th...

"Caretakers aren’t limited to women in real life, yet the vast majority of caretakers in video games lack the y chromosome. Traits that work and are part of the story and characterization are important, but when they are added simply because the writer didn’t think you’d buy the character as that gender, you get a problem"

I'd love for someone to show me how this would make sense or work in a game like Halo or Gears of War, where the tens of millions of people w...

Turtle Beach has the XO Seven, if you were interested in going that high-end.

This is actually a good line of thought.

I think a modest price cut and a Smash Bros bundle would be perfect.

Even without a price cut the Wii U will likely move a lot of units just because of Smash Bros. An added price cut could help the system maintain momentum through and past the holidays, for sure.

@No_Limit

I hated Microsoft's policies and how they treated the game community. I'm glad Phil Spencer is in charge of the Xbox brand now. He's doing right by the community.

As for this article -- the concern is that gamers may be getting gimped, those who opt for the higher-end hardware. It may or may not happen.

This is also a pretty bad issue that plagues PC gaming often, with CoD: Ghosts being one of the worst ports released t...

I actually agree with you.

Back in the 16 and 32-bit era there were a lot of games that were far and wide apart from each other because the system architecture was so different between the platforms.

While both the PS4 and Xbox One may share X86 arhitecture, both should be used to play up what strengths they do have.

If the PS4 can produce better graphics/visuals then they should let it. And if there's something that the Xbox One has th...

Well, 75% of gamers did say that graphics mattered when purchasing a game.

If Project CARS for the Wii U looks close enough to the trailers then it might be enough to convince some people who are on the fence to make the dive and pick up a Wii U.

"People complain about those Top 10 lists, especially when it involves "Sexiest Girls in Gaming," but those exist because they potential equal to 10 hits per individual that reads through the whole list."

There was a writer at Complex who did the Top 50 Sexiest Women in Tech (or something to that effect) who got drilled for the piece. He was told by his editors to do the article because, as you mentioned, it was a guaranteed hit for ad clicks.

It's so sad that this is so true.

There was one time where before, the big guys used to break news regularly by actually doing some legwork. Before Kotaku became what it is, they were known for that sort of thing.

Things have drastically changed, though. Once you reach the upper echelons it's about how well you play ball with the people who provide the ad revenue.
