EXACTLY!
I feel the exact same way.
Some franchises feel like they move cohesively with the market providing both great entertainment values and fan appeal.
I think so far Bungie and Naughty Dog have been the only companies (more or less) to provide blockbuster titles that were both entertaining and engaging and immersive for fans.
It feels like lately fans of any mainstream genre have been pushed off to the side for sales, i...
Well said, good piece. Too bad it's falling on deaf ears.
This industry's press system is straight-up broken and all the big-wigs completely avoid doing any kind of investigative journalism.
I mean, the whole on-disc DLC thing turned out to be true for ME3 but it wasn't like Kotaku or IGN or Gamespot was breaking the news.
They'll probably gloss over it and make it like gamers are just paranoid and cheap.
I...
I'm betting Capcom's gonna make an epic announcement about the first pack of colors being completely and entirely free, and to honor fans they'll say some BS about 2 of the 16 characters will be given away for free...maybe.
It'll be just enough to soothe the heat and give the loyalist and fanboys a reason to further defend them.
Hey man, look I'm not disagreeing about the budget fat of Hollywood, I have no plans on seeing a crappy looking movie like John Carter which looks like a cross between Prince of Persia and Avatar.
In the same token I also don't support the game industry in using the same tactics, (i.e., Hollywood actors bloating up a budget that could have gone to more gameplay, disc locked content, day-one DLC)
The used game market isn't as bad as people make it...
Buying used is not lazy it's called being frugal.
If EA doesn't like it they shouldn't publish games with 6 hour long single-player campaigns that aren't worth $60.
Uh, the extra money doesn't go to devs anyway it goes to the pubs like EA and Activision.
If you want to support devs so much support the indie community which does away with the publisher middleman.
Also, no one from Hollywood gets a cut from the used game market nor the music industry and the game industry makes more money than both of them combined.
Just sounds like greed-apologists to me.
Who disagreed with you? Come on now, speak up! Is it a Capcommie? A Biobite? Come on now, speak up, speak up!!! Don't hide behind those Actinazis, their billion dollars can't hide you from the truth.
We all know you work in the industry in some capacity otherwise there is no reason to disagree with gamers directly funding projects that gamers want to play. It makes perfect sense...cutting out the publishing middlemen.
Yes, yes, yes!
I'm glad gamers and real enthusiasts are doing what journalists should have been doing all long, INVESTIGATING THE LIES.
Gamers all along knew EA was BS and they used Bioware to push their agenda and they knew fans would fall for it and they did.
All those apologists can now suck it because it proves gamers aren't paranoid, whiney, b****es, we just don't trust companies like EA, Activision or Capcom.
Well said.
It's too bad most websites and gaming journalists were just too worried about getting their glowering quote mentioned in a commercial or whatnot, but more of them should have taken into account the 30% of content locked out on the disc.
For everyone saying "You get what's advertised", well they advertised Cody and Guy and you DON'T get to play as them unless you pay more money.
Most gaming websites though a...
Awesome. This is the first review that actually addressed this issue.
THANK YOU!
I'm so tired of so many other sites playing follow the leader because they want to suck up to BioWare.
They used to make great games before getting under EA, and now all I see is EA shining through every business and game development decision they make.
Such a shame. I wish we could get the Bioware back from the Baldur's Gate days.
Episodic gaming could work, but then again we all thought the same thing about DLC...I didn't think it was possible but the gaming industry now has me paranoid.
Assuming Capcom doesn't carry their SFxT DLC ways over into RE6 (and there's no reason they won't) then it might be the best.
But the DLC thing could ultimately ruin this game before it even gets out of the gate.
Well said. I'm gonna give you some bubble lovin'.
I also have a Crossfire setup and to be honest to be in the 5xxx series they run all the latest games great. The only games that run poorly are PC games that suffer from consolitis.
Makes you question why she wasn't DLC instead of the **Spoiler**, eh?
I tried not to complain about it as well...
I bought ALL the DLC for Borderlands, and it's funny but I regretted the original purchase of Borderlands but found that the DLC helped actually make the game fun. But that's just me.
When done right DLC can extend the life of a game, when done pure and simply for greed it will turn a loyal fan into a fire-breathing troll who rages harder than the most roided up wilderbeast.

I don't know man, this newest XCOM has me suspicious.
Did you know you can only have six soldiers on the field at any given time? I mean, I usually lose between 2-4 on a standard mission, that means this has to be easier to accomodate the limitation of only six soldiers.
It may not be game breaking but, I don't know man...I just don't know...
PC is already being revived...a lot of indie devs are blossoming thanks to Steam (still haven't seen much effort on EA's part to promote the indie community on Origin outside of games they publish) and a lot of tools have become cheap enough so that we can experience high quality games like Hard Reset and Dear Esther at a fraction of the cost of standard console titles.
More than anything, if the 720 and PS4 continue down the trend of abusing and misusing consumers I ...
I guess he got pissed off at the day-one DLC, too.
It costs around and sometimes upwards of $40,000 for developers to patch a game on the Xbox 360 or PS3, hence it's why Dungeon Defenders doesn't receive as much content or patches as the PC version and it's why CD Projekt won't be allowed to release free DLC to Xbox 360 gamers with the Witcher 2.
