Andrew House says that PS Now will allow for renting games along with a subscription service.

Now everyone is telling them to do a subscription service.... Um... they kind of already said they were doing that already.

It's better to buy it outright if you have the machine to play it on. But if you want to play Uncharted on the PS4 or Vita (or Bravia TV) then buying the game isn't an option.
I like this model, but if you have a game that takes 10 hours to complete, you're potentially only going to pay a few bucks for it.
That said, most of the games that will be offered will be older games on legacy systems, so it's not like the publishers were going to get much more money fr...

I think the main problem are the two extreme price options. $5 for 4 hours is too much. $30 for 90 days is too much, but $6-8 for a week isn't bad. A couple of bucks more for the whole month. For a lot of games that you'd play through once and never go back to, it's not a bad option.
Stick It To The Man only takes a few hours to get through, and the current PSNow price is $4 for a week. That's a pretty good deal. Once you get through the game, chances are you aren'...

"If it weren't for Microsoft, and the tireless support of Microsoft fans, Bungie would likely be the world's most successful gaming studio ... for Macs."

And if it weren't for Bungie and the original Halo, there would be no Xbox. It would have been lumped into the same category as the Kin phone and the Zune. Halo made the Xbox a brand, so it's not a one way street.

This is all just ridiculous. Titanfall was an XB exclusive, does that...

No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
If you want this service to be a failure that nobody will ever use, then go with these prices.
If Sony wants this to be an important part of their gaming ecosystem, then they have to make it cheaper than this or provide a subscription service that is reasonably priced. (and $20 a month isn't that reasonable)

I don't think he disagrees with me. If he said "core gamers."
Core gamers who need something more than a phone can provide = small market.

I love the Vita, but I rarely play it outside my house. I also play it for 15-20 minutes, but it's during times when I can't start up the console. If I'm on the deck waiting for the grill to be ready, I bust out the Vita. But to pull it out when I'm driving? No, it doesn't happen.

Nope. He got it wrong.
The reason why it hasn't done as well is because Sony made a handheld console from adults and Nintendo made one for kids.
The market for the adults is very small, only a hard core gamer needs something to play all the time.
The market for kids is really big, since they don't have phones yet to occupy them while sitting in the car.

It has NOTHING to do with the kind of experience the games were providing, other than Ninten...

So what does Polygon have against publishing the interview in full instead of just picking and choosing which pieces to publish?
Most of the time when sites do that it's because they want to take something out of context. Just publish the interview in full. We don't care about your "artsy" style but with what Yoshida has to say.

You do get used to them. It's kind of like the first time you play Wii Sports. You have to kind of anticipate and swing just a little early. But I'm definitely have fun with it.

Sony should save up all the little Vita news it always trickles out and just release it all at Vita's own show. It would bring more exposure to even the smaller indie titles.

Make the Vita an event. God knows the current install base is a passionate one.

This is one of the few articles from a non-gaming website that doesn't screw up what the PlayStation TV can actually do. Other sites don't quite understand what it can or can't do but just have a vague idea that it streams all sorts of game somehow, or that it streams Vita games.

Who'd have thought the Guardian would be on top of things here.

The bundle + Minecraft + Disney Infinity + Netflix, and you have everything the kids could ask for.

Honestly though, it was always a little disingenuous to call it "Vita TV" since it only played a small fraction of the Vita games. It was more PSP or PS1 TV that could also play a few Vita games.
Hopefully the number of Vita games does get patched if the system does manage to sell well.
And I've noticed on various tech sites (and even business sites) that my simply calling it PlayStation TV, they've attracted a lot more attention from the non-games press.

The strange thing is that people aren't connecting the dots that PS TV is the same as a Vita. I've noticed on some tech sites that they are excited about the PS TV because of its potential with PS Now.
While $399 may have won them the battle last year, $99 is a great deal. PS Now, PS4 Remote Play, and access to PS1/PSP games for $99? A lot of people who won't even know it plays Vita games will pick one up.

I think it's probably a little more complex than that. But what about an unsubsidized unlocked Vita phone for $300? Sure the camera sucks, but TWIN STICKS BABY!

This my feeling as well. And here's why. In the interview Andrew House did with Edge, he let it be known that Sony's decision to delay the PS4 in Japan was a huge insult to their gaming community. If they were to announce The Last Guardian anywhere other than in Japan, it would be another slap in the face.
I get the feeling that the game is finally ready to be announced, but they are waiting until TGS to make it official. They need to give some love to their Japanese brethren ...

By my count it's the third re-positioning.
1. Console on the go
2. Play on the console then take the game with you
3. This

And just add a dialer and texting into the 3G vita, and it would be all I would need. Well, it would be nice if it had a good camera as well.

4377d ago 5 agree1 disagreeView comment

What? I don't get it. Do you want games or a sub-category? Are you saying that the Vita would be massively successful if it had exclusive games from anyone other than SCEJ?

4378d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

No, Microsoft got blasted because after 8 years, they were going to announce their newest, next gen console, and they started by talking TV, TV, TV. Gamers were tuned in to see games and instead they were watching The Price is Right. If MS had done game, game, game, oh, and it does this other stuff, they wouldn't have disappointed as many people as they did.
This year Sony announced over 30 games on stage, oh and they also mentioned they're making a TV show for PlayStation use...

Sony's really hitting it out of the park recently with these kid games. The full version of Minecraft and not a port of the pocket edition. Now, the full version of Infinity and not a port of the 3DS game. It's a good sign.
