Agreed. What's even more amazing is that I signed up for PS+ when it was only available on the PS3. $50 a year got me free games to play, cloud saves, automatic updates, and big discounts during game sales.
Since then they have added (at no additional cost) free games and cloud saves for the PS Vita, then the PS4, and now the PS TV. (and in a round about way, the PSP since the free PSP games they gave out for the Vita will also work on the PSP).

I remember playing a ton of Jungle Hunt and Zaxxon in the arcades early on. Then The Simpsons came out, X-Men, and Ninja Turtles. Those were all great.
Later on it seemed like more and more of the games were turning into shooters, like Area 51, but for me, Operation Wolf was the only shooter I needed. Good times.

Truth is, this was a gaffe, not an elaborately planned marketing scheme. We always give these guys too much credit. No executive would sign off on a plan that insists on upsetting over half your market.
I think people really enjoy multiplayer in games, but when you create a game that is only multiplayer, the experience suffers on consoles.
Titanfall is great and will continue to be until people stop playing. Then as the matches have fewer and fewer players, the game suffers.
The anticipation was that "next gen" would be online, online, online, and always connected. People felt really uneasy about that as the future of gaming, and now as we see how all the online stuff is playing out, maybe it isnt the future just yet.
My problem with it is that multi-player is a heavy focus and that doesn't serve the way I play. I want to play when I have time and can't worry about when my friends have time.

It all depends on where you're coming from. If you have nothing at the moment, then it's a great deal. $40 extra gets you a game, a controller, and a memory card. It's a great deal.

It is strange that they should remove the online capabilities, but if I had to guess, they probably looked at how many people were playing the older editions online and decided it wasn't enough to justify keeping it. I mean, removing it would mean they actually put some work into the game. Personally, I only play single-player career mode, so it doesn't effect me that much, but for those who do enjoy the multiplayer, it's a bad hit. I just never had fun playing an online game that...
